I was just wondering if what I'm experiencing is normal or if I should get checked out. I'll be 4 weeks post surgery on Monday I had a lap band removed and bypass at the same time. I'm still so tired all the time, like physically exhausted that I can't do much besides sleep. I'm also feeling nauseated especially when eating and the last couple of days I've had a dull ach across my stomach, I'm not sure if that's just the internal stitches healing etc or if there's more to it, any help would be great, also I'd love to know what ppl lost (in KG if possible in the first 4 weeks post op, I've lost 12.4kg) and just want to know I'm on the right track! Thank you

Hi, I'm 7 days post op, I had removal of a lap band as well as a bypass! I had very minimal pain from the bypass, however the band site was excruciating. I've been home for 2 days now and I'm able to keep my fluids up with water however anything else is very minimal. I have a shake with added protein powder in the morning and something similar at lunch how ever it's only about 1/4 of a cup at the moment which I understand is normal and at tea I have some type of soup. I'm just so exhausted throughout the day, I can't do much but sleep and even activities such as walking to the letter box makes my muscles feel like jelly, just hoping I can start feeling more alert soon! I realise I'm still only very early in I just hate it being able to contribute around the house etc

Thank you, that's all really great advice! I'm no longer taking pain meds so I can rule that out but everything else is certainly helpful to my current situation.

I have removal of band and bypass surgery scheduled for 10/10, I've come down with some mild asthma obviously caused by an underlying virus which has also caused some post nasal drip and I feel a touch chesty and gunky! Everything else is fine, no blocked nose, temp, etc and the hospital said they can give me things to tame the Asthma but I'm worried my chest won't be clear enough for surgery.

Has any one had this surgery and suffered previously from any bowel conditions? I have had long term diarrhoea problems which I've had all investigations done for and nothing ever diagnosed. My surgeon has just told me today she's concerned about the issue with my bowel being a complication (4 weeks out from my scheduled surgery) and wants me to yet again see a gastroenterologist. I was just wondering if any one else has had similar issues pre surgery and how they manage now? Also is diarrhoea a major problem for any one after surgery?

Yeah it works well most of the time but I do still have episodes where I need to add the seroquel as well

I was Banded the 07/06/14 i lost 8kg on the pre op diet and was so excited to begin my weight loss journey! I then started weeping from an incision site and being a nurse and also it being my body I kept presenting at the ER telling them I had an infection, my surgeon was away and they kept sending me home on the same anti biotics I had been taking for 72 hours telling me to give them time to work however I could see and feel the infection spreading! I ended up with cellulitis which the antibiotics cleared however the port site started weeping and I ended up out one day and looked down to find my top soaked in blood, ppl around me thought I'd been shot! Eventually after a week I got to see my surgeon who admitted me to hospital and after another 2 days they decided I needed to be opened up again and washed out! I was then left with two very big deep opened wounds! I was out of hospital after 5 days and had district nurses daily to change my dressings and pack my wounds! I then had to wait until the wounds fully healed before my first fill! I finally got a fill in August! 5cc and nothing, four weeks later another 2cc, still nothing, another 4 weeks and 1cc, still nothing, I'm on shakes twice a day and a healthy meal once a day plus exercising but I'm getting no where with the weight loss, it is so disheartening! I'm wondering how many calories those of you who have been successful consume a day? I was averaging 800 at 110kg but I was told that's not enough! Thanks for reading my whinge if you bothered to finish it!

I put on 16kg in 2 months on seroquel, I had to come off it which was a shame because it really worked for me as well, I know take epilem and have seroquel for severe episodes but as it's not my regular medication now it a tiny dose knocks me out but apparently that's what it's meant to do when your in an episode

An you drink alcohol after the band?

Had my band done on the 17/06 and ended up with cellulitis in one wound and golden staph in the other! As a result I have not yet had a fill as I was taken to surgery a week ago to reopen wounds and wash them out! I'm really frustrated as I feel like I've spent a lot of money that is going to waste because I'm not feeling any restriction. My meals are only slightly smaller than pre op and I'm starving like an hour or two after! Has any one got any helpful advice?

Port Site Infection & Surery to Remove Port!!
BandedKT replied to Summer87's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have cellulitis and I've been to my GP 3 times who keeps sending me to the hospital because the oral antibiotics aren't working then the hospital give me the same oral antis and send me home again! My surgeon is on leave but I'm seeing a different one tomorrow! My wound is dressed but it feels like the wound has tripled in size! I'm scared the infection will turn septic before they'll even do anything! -
I in the afternoon I will finally be getting my band done, very nervous but also very excited to start on this journey, although I followed the pre op diet to a tee and only lost 5 kg I'm scared that I just can't lose weight!

Ok so had surgery yesterday and all went great but it's a lot more painful than previous surgeries (Gaul bladder and appendix) or maybe my pain tolerance has changed over the years not sure!

Was just wondering how much weight everyone lost on pre op diet (opti fast) please say starting weight, how many weeks u were on it and weight lost, I started at 120kg at 117.1 a week on

I'm scared I'm not doing well enough, I was told I could have as many veggies as I like and a tsp of oil a day but the veg have to be certain ones, so I've been miking my veg with a tsp of oil and some garlic and roasting them for Dinner with my shake but now I'm scared perhaps I should of just stayed with the shake

Am so proud of my self, been on my pre op diet a week today and had my 30 the birthday Saturday night, yes I ate a couple of little appetisers but did not go stupid and I didn't drink! Since then the house has been full of left over appetisers, cake, lollies, chips etc and not once have a caved in and ate them, not even a nibble! I've lost almost 4kg so far! Hoping for 6 before surgery

Hi I'm scheduled for surgery on the 17/06/14 and I'm in my pre op diet phase, however it is my 30th birthday tomorrow night and I've had a big party arranged before I found out about surgery! Is it ok for me to have a night off the diet or do u recommend I stay on trek? I'm petrified that my liver won't shrink enough! CW 120kg
