    Don't Overdo It

    July 6, 2006 (Biggest Loser Club) Don't Overdo it! BLC members set goals they can stick with and reap the rewards. Most of us dieters tend to go to extremes about the latest diet plan. We eat right, work out, and drink water by the gallon for the first week or two. Then we fall off the bandwagon just as quickly. Part of the problem may be that we get a little obsessive about our new lifestyle, too obsessive to reasonably sustain what we're doing. Here are some tips from our BLC members about how to control "overdoing it" behavior that may end up causing us to quit dieting all together. Do you weigh yourself over and over, then find that the number on the scale depresses you? Over-weighing can make you feel hopeless! Instead weigh yourself once a week. "In the closet is where the scales should always be," says one BLC member who only takes her scale out on weigh-in day. "Most of all, remember to only weigh first thing in the morning, and never after exercise. You lose 2 to 3 lbs. overnight and can gain up to 5 right after exercise." Do you cut out snacks or meals in an effort to speed up your weight loss? Under-eating can leave you listless and slow down your metabolism. Instead, eat everything on your meal plan and drink plenty of water. "I grew up with coal furnaces," says one BLC member. "If you don't keep them stoked, the fire burns out. It's the same with our bodies...we need to eat tiny portions all day long. If we don't, the fire that burns our calories goes out. Your body goes into survival mode when you don't get some type of food. It doesn't have to be very much. If your inner furnace thinks the fire is going out, it quits burning calories and your metabolism slows way down."

    I am in such a good mood today, right now. LOL I got excited in the MD Forum writing about my walking and that the weekend is here and that I WILL BE WALKING THIS WEEKEND.....!!!!! My daughter put in the WAP tape and I put on the radio and we walked and danced for 45 minutes. We did almost 3 miles according to the tape but 3 according to my pedometer. LOL I was having a ball and my daughter was laughing at me while she was walking. I was wet and my hair was soaked when I got through. It felt so good just to be working out. It was gorgeous outside yesterday and I should have gone to the park but I did not so this was better then nothing. Fri (I don't know yet, walk somewhere) Sat Walk - C&L- RT Sun Walk Mon TTC Tues Weigh in (I'm excited, I need to know, I can't wait to get my scale)

    New diet i found

    Sacred Heart Medical Diet This 7-day eating plan can be used as often as you like. If correctly followed, it will clean out your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. After only 7 days of this process, you will begin to feel lighter by at least 10 pounds and possibly 17 pounds, and experience an abundance of energy. SOUP: 1 or 2 cans of stewed tomatoes 3 plus large green onions 1 large can of beef broth (no fat) 1 pkg. Lipton Soup mix (chicken noodle) 1 bunch of celery 2 cans green Beans 2 lbs. Carrots 2 Green Peppers Season with salt, pepper curry, parsley, if desired, or bouillon, hot or Worcestershire sauce. Cut veggies in small to medium pieces. Cover with Water. Boil fast for 10 minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue to cook until veggies are tender. This soup can be eaten anytime you are hungry during the week. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want. This soup will not add calories. The more you eat, the more you will lose. You may want to fill a thermos in the morning if you will be away during the day. DRINKS: Unsweetened juices Tea (also herbal) coffee Cranberry juice Skim milk Water, water, water DAY ONE Any fruit (except bananas). Cantaloupes and watermelon are lower in calories than most other fruits. Eat only soup and fruit today. DAY TWO All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with fresh raw, cooked or canned veggies. Try to eat green leafy veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas or corn. Eat veggies along with the soup. At dinnertime tonight reward yourself with a big baked potato and butter. Don't eat any fruits through today. DAY THREE Eat all the soup, fruit and veggies you want. Do not have a baked potato. If you have eaten as above for three days and not cheated, you should find that you have lost 5-7 pounds. DAY FOUR Bananas and skim milk: Eat at least 3 bananas and drink as much milk as you can today, along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates, as is the milk but on this particular day, your body will need the potassium and carbs. Proteins and Calcium to lessen the cravings for sweets. DAY FIVE Beef and tomatoes: you may have 10 to 20 ounces of beef and a can of tomatoes, or as many as 6 tomatoes on this day. Eat the soup at least once today. DAY SIX Beef and veggies, eat to your heart's content of the beef and veggies today. You can even have 2-3 steaks if you like with green leafy veggies but no baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least once today. DAY SEVEN Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice and veggies, again, be sure to stuff yourself and eat the soup. You can add cooked veggies to your rice if you wish. By the end of the 7th day, if you have not cheated on this diet, you should have lost 10 to 17 pounds. If you have lost more than 17 pounds, stay off the diet for two days before resuming the diet again. This diet is fast. The secret lies within the principle that you will burn more calories than you take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. This diet does not lend itself to drinking any alcoholic beverages at any time. Because of the fat build-up in your system. Go off the diet at least 14 hours before any intake of alcohol. Due to the variety of digestive systems in individuals, this diet will affect everyone differently. After day three, you will have more energy than when you began, if you do not cheat. After being on the diet for several days, you will find that your bowel movements have changed. Eat a cup of bran or Fiber. Although you can have black coffee with this diet, you may find that you don't need caffeine after the third day. The basic fat burning soup can be eaten anytime you feel hungry during the seven days. Eat as much as you wish. Remember the more you eat, the more you will lose. You can eat broiled, boiled or baked chicken instead of the beef. Absolutely no skin on the chicken. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef on only one of the beef days. You need the high Protein in the beef for the other days. Continue on the diet as long as you wish and feel the difference both mentally and physically. DO NOT - DO NOT No bread, alcohol, carbonated drinks (including diet drinks). Remember, absolutely no fried foods. DO - DO - DO - DO Drink plenty - at least 6 to 8 glasses - of water a day, as well as any combination of the following beverages: black coffee, unsweetened Fruit Drinks, cranberry juice and skim milk

There was an article in the post last week about the best steak and cheese in town and that is what I want but I don't want to hurt my feelings and not be able to eat the bread.....maybe if I eat it reallllllllll slowwwwwwwwwww. LOL

    It is cardio. The personal trainer brought one to class and had the lady with really bad knees just walk on it. She said it was a workout. Go For It!

  19. Tomorrow is my BANDIVERSARY JULY 8!!!!! WOW I don't stress about seating in restaurants anymore I can fit into my size 32 jeans and working on 30 I can walk 3 miles in 55 minutes I actually want to work out I can go to the pool and not feel self concious More Confidence There's 1 or 2 more things I can't mention I was down 71 pounds and at my last weigh in on June 27 I was at 66 pounds. I hope that I back down to the 71 mark. I will let you know next weigh in, July 11.

    I can't wait to get my own scale.     Scale

    You go Ali, keep doing what you are doing and one day while you are walking you will realize that you walked more then you had before, effortlessly. I am so surprised with myself that I CAN, actually able to walk for 1 hour or 3 miles and not literally drop dead or at least cry. LOL Seriously, I was scared to go walking initially because I didn't want to fail. I think I can say I love to walk now. I do, I love to walk. Thank you Ali and keep up all the great work and keep on walking. Walk while commercials are on, take that extra walk to the kitchen to get another cup of water, take that extra walk upstairs to get something. It all adds up.

    Motivation/Exercise

    On a roll now...oooohhhhh a kaiser roll, soft, chewy,.....what the heck was that I did the WAP tape w/dancing incorporated. I got my 10,000 steps on the pedometer. 45 min of walking and dancing which was about 2.5 miles. I am excited tomorrow is Saturday....I will be walking my 3 miles Sat and Sun. I would love to do more. If if if if it is nice like yesterday was I will go walk on the mall and try to do more then my 3 miles. I would like to walk from the museums to the Jefferson memorial. It is a shame I live here and don't see the museums anymore.
