Am I the only one? Sometimes I want to eat something that I know I should not eat for it may get stuck or it has just too much fat, carbs or caloires. So giving into temptation I will chew it up and then spit it out.

You guys are great.....still laughing. I don't feel like a freak now. I don't do it as much as I did when I was on liquids. I think I have adjusted pretty well. One day I took a sip of my daughters soda and then relized it was carbonated. I was driving but close to home so 2 minutes later when I got home I watered the grass. Angie not only will the liquids force out the full feeling it can backfire and make you vomit. If you are already full and you might not know it the liquid will sit on top of it and make you feel sick then here comes the pb.

Why has the scale not moved for 3 weeks?
Teresita replied to shalopash's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WOW I am impressed, you are doing great. Well we all know that muscles weighs more then fat, you have hit a plateau, you are probably seeing changes in your clothes because you are loosing inches or your scale is broke. LOL Don't worry about the scale, keep up the great work. Do change up your exercise routine every couple of weeks if you don't. Don't get discouraged because you are the poster child for living healthy. -
I don't know what to say. It is not like she went through this stuff, she is going through it right at this very moment. Count your blessings and .........

WHEWWWWW that was something just to read all these entries. First of all Jodie (THERAPY) it sounds like you could benefit from some good old fashion therapy. I guess you can't help it if you are a negative person, which you stated that you were. But I saw a speaker and #1 on her list for loosing weight was not exercise but POSITIVE ATTITUDE. Since you can't get the surgery and you don't have a positive attitude I guess you will be stuck in this same position for the rest of your life. Hmmmm but that is a choice isn't it. Well let ME tell you what to do since you don't know and you don't sound like want to take advice from anyone. 1. Therapy 2. Attitude Adjustment (don't blame others) 3. Try (JUST DO IT) 4. Pretend the surgery does not exist becuase even if you get it. You still have to eat right and EXERCISE. 5. See a Nutritionist if you don't take in enough foods you won't loose 6. Consider and STICK TO A liquid diet THAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF CALORIES AND NUTRIENTS FOR THE DAY. 7. Exercise 7. PRAY Good Luck

Congratulations!!!! You are now on your way to a healthy you. It will take a while for the whale feeling to go away but Gasx and walking helps. Try to get your 64oz of water in but you may not be able to do that for 2 weeks but try.

I love Leslie Sansons Walk Away the Pounds tapes. I lost 30 pounds 2 years ago walking to her tapes in my living room. Right now I go to a 6 month program of 1 hour of nutrition and then 1 hour of exercise on Thursday. I am 4 weeks out of surgery so I just walk while they do other exercise. They do have a Monday session also so I am going to try to go to both. Also, I try to lift my small handweights while I watch tv.

I just wanted to ask how are doing with your lifestyle change. I am struggling with getting it together but it is coming along. Thank God for the exercise class, I go faithfully because if I don't I may not get any exercise in. I am still learning how to eat but it is not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think the pre op liquid diet helped alot. I do have to say that sf popsicles and fudgesicles are a blessing. LOL

I am getting nervous about eating now that I am in my 4th week. I am eating soft foods but I can eat more now. I have found out that I can't eat after a certain hour or it gets stuck. I eat a cheesestick for Breakfast, a Protein shake for lunch and then her comes the food. I started out going to taco bell to eat the insides of a burrito but now I fix my own at home. For the past 3 days I have refried Beans, a mix of meats (grd turkey, turkey sausage and a little lean grd beef), fat free sour cream, salsa, cheese and a lettuce. I may have this when I get home at 3 and again at 5. Once I start eating I stop drinking so for the past 2 days I did not get in all my Water. I usually drink about 4 cups at work and 2 to 4 at home but it is an effort after I have eaten. I think well if I drink now I will have to wait to eat. So I am choosing food over drinking right now. Last night I went to the bathroom 3 times because my urine was so strong (sorry guys) that I just started downing a 20oz bottle of water and then drank more. I did not exercise last week at all and I am scared to get on the scale tonight. I go to TOPS Taking Off Pounds Sensibly and we weigh in every week. I still weigh 4 hundred something so it is not like I can get on a scale at home so I need their scale and their support. All I can say is I'm trying and I know I can do better. I will go to the exercise class Thursday at Take the Challenge and I will do my hand weights everyday this week. Hold me to it guys. I need the help.

Very Dissappointed - What am I doing wrong?
Teresita replied to lovebugg1026's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lovebugg I am learning that losing even with the band is a very slow process. Be patient and work with it. Do count calories and carbs. You may be able to eat 2 and 3 slices of pizza but why would you want to. Diet and exercise is still a key issue. There are better choices then pizza but I am sure that is not an everyday occurance anyhow. Are you walking or doing any exercise? -
Band Gone....Pocket Book Empty...Feeling Blue but Healthy
Teresita replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sonnie I too and very sorry but I see you know that your health is most important. If the band was the answer to all of our troubles we would not need this type of forum for support. What do we discuss but diet, exercise and everything else in life. You can do this. You are not the only person to have ever had to get their band off. Act as if you still have your band, measure your food, drink your Protein shakes, stay away from sugar, drink your Water, sip, eat slowly, chew chew chew and exercise. We are all behind you. Anyone of us at any moment could have to have our band removed and if it happens to me I hope I can still get the band support. I love you and am feeling your pain. -
DeLarla first of all I love your quote. As far as snacking if you snack and if you do it should not be much. But if you are you should watch the calories and carbs. Believe it or not the band does not seem to care for major carbs like bread and rice. Then taking a chapter from Gastric Bypass patients they can not eat sugar and we all know how the weight just comes off of them. So if we think protein for snacks it would help in so many ways. Think about it protein keeps your bloodsugar stable therefore you won't get those major cravings or hungar pains. Your energy stays up and your metabolism.

Teresita replied to gunn4ya's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OH Happy Day Amy is back. Congratulations and welcome back. I'm glad everything went well with the surgery. I'm sorry to hear about the migrains and such. If you follow doctors orders I know you are going to be just fine. As far as the liquid diet I also drank some protein shake during that time. I mainly focused on water, crystal light, clear broth and popsicles for the first week. -
Pam there is a safe way to do chocolate. Sugar free pudding and sf fudgesicles. One is satisfying.

Carrie that was a funny visual after you made light of it. I hope youre knees are better. Don't let that treadmill take advantage of you again. You get right back on that thing and walk it girl...LOL. I am sad, I admit it I do like taco bell. Tanya I was surprised at myself too but I did better this weekend. I bought my own refried Beans and fixed it up with sauteed ground turkey, ground turkey sausage and lean groundbeef all mixed up. Then I put a little fat free sour cream and picante sauce on it. It was really good. I had a little bit of salad yesterday and it was good because I had been dying for one. Today I have a shake for breakfast and lunch but I have a cheesestick in case I desprately need something to chew. Where is Oh Happy Day she should be back today. I hope her surgery went well. -
Being in the 400's I understand. There is always that much more of a risk with surgeries. I was blessed to be able to get the band laproscopic (ly). I will keep him in my prayers.

Tanya that message was for me also because yesterday I just was eating anything. I took chances on somethings I never had before. All this week I eat a cheesestick for Breakfast and a shake for lunch. I would have Soup or Pasta for dinner but yesterday I lost my mind I went to Taco bell and Arthur Treachers. I know the calories were that horrible but I know I should not be eating fast food like that and so much of it. I think I need to eat something else at work so I don't do that again. I took a nausea pill after I at the cruchwrap and the pepcide after Arthur Treachers 8:00am cheesestick 11:30am Protein shake 2:15pm Stuffed burritto insides TB 5:00 Crunchwrap insides except that tortilla TB 7:30pm Arthur Treachers fish insides5 fries -
Joyce that is what helped me. I found out here on lap band talk that walking and gas x will help with the gas. I made sure I bought if before surgery. For my clear liquids when I got home I had diluted crystal light and gatorade but they were so sweet I preferred the Water. The sugar free popsicles were a life saver thoguh. I agree that the port area will be sore for about 2 weeks but it everyday the soreness gets better. You will be surprised at how good you will feel in one week. By the third day after surgery I began to feel more like myself again. Each day gets better and better. I was given in the hospital light grape juice and broth with Protein added. Micki you said you had gb surgery. You had the RNY gastric bypass? My sister did and is now looking at the lap band because she had begin to gain weight. Good luck Micki and welcome.

Any way to prepare BEFORE consultation??
Teresita replied to Lisa*in*NJ's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think you have done pre consult stuff. Your research and the seminar. Oh write down any questions you can come up with for the surgeon. See if they have a coordinator. My hospital had a coordinator who can make all of your appointments and tells you what your need referrals for. Here are the following test I had to go through before surgery and was able to get the surgery done in about 2 months after consult. Oh you may my need proof that you have been on doctor supervised diet but if your doctor knows you have been trying to loose you may be able to bypass that. They ask if you have done ww, atkins, etc.. psych eval nutritionist consult blood and urine cardiologist (possibly if heart issues) upper gi blood gas test ekg/eeg sleep study (possibly 3 appts, the study, results, fitted for machine ) nurse interview -
There was no way in the world I could have slept on my stomach with all those wires and I take a diuretic so I go to the bathroom during the night. I don't have any of the usual symptoms of sleep apnea. Because of my size they assume I have it. Like I said before CPAP for sale, going once, going twice, gone in the closet. I did try the cpap and it is just irratating I even got a mask that is comfortable. They set the thing on the lowest setting so I just don't get it. The nurse even asked why was it set so low. I don't know.

Well see that is the thing, I am well rested when I wake up, I don't fall aseep during the day, I'm not tired during the day and if I try to take a nap, I can't because I am not tired. I do get enough sleep, I go to bed around 9 becuase I have to get up at 5:30. When I did the paper work for the sleep study those things did not pertain to me except that I snore sometimes but not enough to wake myself up. I sleep on belly and during the study I could not do that so I had a restless sleep during the study. I would not put myself through that mess again. I am not sleep deprived and I have slept with enough people that someone would have said you stopped breathing last night. LOL The doctor I saw automatically said I'm sure you have sleep apnea without the study because I am big but I am also 6'1".

How do you get fiber in your diet?
Teresita replied to Iluvharleys's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I eat 2 chewable fiber pills a day. -
Txdani are you still drinking your protein shakes? Protein helps with your bloodsugar and will keep your energy up. If you can eat a cheesestick during work but chew chew chew.
-
You guys gave all the reasons why you loose quicker with the other surgery. With the other surgery you can stretch your stomach and gain the weight back. Now doctors are doing revisits to shrink the stomach again and some are even putting the band on patients after the gastric bypass patient has stretched their stomach. Be thankful you got the band. Just work with the band, eat right and exercise. If you work to get your Protein in that helps. Because as I see it you are going to supplement with a meal with a Protein shake therefore there are less calories taken in at one meal. Go back to the basics and you will see the results.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea right before surgery. They don't use the cpap machine during surgery but once I got to my room they checked it out and brought it back and put it on the counter and that is where it stayed. So now it is in the closet at home. I think I was misdiagnosed. Brand new CPAP for Sale!!!!!!
