Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
munchkin392 replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Well, when I was leaving to go run errands today the neighbor was outside and actually nodded and waved to me. I took the opportunity to go talk to him and basically ask what their issue is with me. He told me his issue was never with me, that it was always with my husband. I said "But my husband has been gone since February, so why do you keep bothering me?" And he said, much to my surprise that he thought I was still seeing Shawn because he sees him driving around and saw him go up to my front door last week. I told him in no uncertain terms that I am NOT still seeing my husband, that my divorce should be final within a month, and that if he is driving around and coming to my house he is not supposed to be and to feel free to call the police because obviously he is stalking me again. I had no idea! He told me that he always hated how Shawn treated me because he used to consider me like one of his daughters, and he hated how he talked about me and couldn't believe I would still see him and put up with his crap, so I think that is where the issue was. He wouldn't fess up to calling animal control, and swore that they didn't, but I think they did and he feels bad about it now that he knows I am not seeing Shawn. I told him that Brutus is the only dog who doesn't know Shawn, and that he has already protected me once when Shawn was outside my bedroom window at 3:30 am and I had to call the police on him. I told him that once I get a default judgement in my divorce and Shawn finds out we are divorced, I will NEED Brutus to protect me and the house because things are only going to get worse. I think (hopefully) he understood this. Again, he swears he didn't do it, but there is no one else that logically would have, unless my stupid ex did it in an attempt to get his dog (he has threatened to call animal control on me in the past and tell them I have too many animals, so it could have been him I guess.) He also did tell me that they are buying the house next door for his daughter. I told him that I have never been unwilling to move the fence if it is over the property line, that I have gotten an estimate to move it already and gotten a loan to do it, but that the estate attorney will not return my attorneys phone call. I told him I have been ready to take care of it for 3 weeks now and that I am not trying to be unreasonable about it. He walked me back over to my garage and gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek so hopefully things will settle down now. Sigh. -

Yes, it is probably best you have the wise voice of your mom to listen to instead of me being completely reckless telling you "Do it!" Thank goodness for moms!! And I also have more than my share of blonde moments on any given day!!! Remind me to tell you someday about my worst all time blonde moment!! (My mom and friends actually tell me I should never tell anyone about this one because it makes me look so stupid!) -

Mini, Yes, I was probably about 40 pounds heavier when I stopped taking Effexor in February, maybe a bit heavier than that. That is a good thought. I am going to try starting it today again now that I am not working and see what happens. But, I need something to calm DOWN my fight or flight (which is pretty much going constantly lately because of the neighbors), not rev it up! And yes, everyone under the sun knows I have had surgery, including my shrink! Are they missing the point that I paid lots of money to lose weight or is it just me? -

I honestly don't think they were trying to be rude on purpose, they just seemed concerned. But still!! I know what you mean!! And like you said, you can't win...fat or skinny! -

Oh no! There is an ER nurse who does dog rescue, and I was talking to her about my situation last night, and we discovered that for the Dept of Agriculture foster home license, they want it to be through a shelter or rescue. So it may not get approved. I am hoping that the State of Il will be as disorganized as they usually are and just put it through. (Keeping fingers crossed). Otherwise I may have to beg my friend at the Lab Rescue to let me get licensed under her. But, one of the other ER nurses who does rescue gave me the name of a local woman who does Doberman rescue, who is also an attorney, who is apparently very knowledgable about all this licensing stuff. So I am going to email her later if I get time at work. Please pray that something works out for my dogs ladies. :tt2: -

Denver-wouldn't it be nice if the athletic bug IS contagious? :frown: Although I don't have any mountains to climb in Iowa. I will have to find a hill to climb instead. Not quite as exciting! I am glad you had fun with your daughter. It sounds like you did a lot of nice things. -

Okay, I am really perplexed. I do not think I have lost weight that fast...I am right around schedule, maybe even slightly behind schedule on my weight loss. But I am starting to get a complex that people think I have an eating disorder! First, when I went to the psychiatrist to get my antidepressants the other day, he weighed me. Now I have gone to him for over 4 years and never once has he weighed me. I thought it curious but was so upset about the dog issue that I didn't ask why. So maybe I am just overreacting to that one, but I have never seen a psych doc weigh anyone except for eating disorder patients. Friday night and last night at work, almost everybody I came into contact with at the hospital made a comment about my weight loss. Then, this morning, the nursing supervisor (who is male none the less) pulled me aside when he saw me in the hall and told me he is concerned that I am losing too much weight. WTH??? I eat-honestly!!! I probably packed away a good 3000 calories on one of my emotional eating days the week before last! I just had gastroenteritis last week and wasn't particularly hungry for that reason. I had diarrhea all week and was nauseous. Who would want to eat when they have a stomach bug? I did weigh myself on the hospital scale as opposed to my scale, and according to it I did lose 6 pounds since I weighed myself on it last weekend, so I am not sure which scale to believe, because mine is only showing a two pound loss. I don't know,I am just really perplexed by this. It's not like I am a stick or anything! I am still 30+ lbs overweight according the the height/weight scale. It just bothers me, I am almost starting to dread when someone remarks about my weight! -

I had about 2 cc's in mine the first time my fill doctor accessed my port. It was always my understanding that the band comes primed with a little bit of saline in it from the manufacturer. -

Yes, he said it is the same as Effexor basically but taken once a day. I took Effexor for years without trouble which is why I think he put me on it. -

I just put the bark collars on all my dogs before I go to work. I feel SO bad to do this to them. I hate what these people are doing to us. Now they can't even be dogs and bark to protect the house if they need to! (My mom didn't think this was necessary, but I told her my dogs only bark when someone rings the doorbell or is walking around outside the house. They are doing their job of guarding the house. But these people are so conniving I would not put it past them to stand out there and taunt my dogs to get them to bark, and then call the police and complain.) Paranoid? Maybe. But I will do anything to protect these guys. -

Adork-I am sorry about the situation with your coworker. People can be so two faced, especially in a field such is yours that is so laden with politics. That was the only thing I hated about that field was the politics. You just have to learn how to play the game I guess. (Which I was admittedly never good at! I am just not like that!) Yes, the Ben & Jerrys is evil. I did try the cake batter one and thankfully, did not like it that much. But the cinnamon buns one was a different story!! As far as the inflating and deflating of the band, I hope it's not bad for it because I have lost track of how many times I have had mine inflated and deflated!! I do have to say though, that I do not understand your doctors explanation of why he wouldn't use a stopcock. I don't know why that would affect anything since it is on the outside attached to the syringe. Anyone else want to weigh in on this? Maybe I am missing the point since I have never had a fill with a stopcock? Darn it, I wish your mom would bring you with to Bettendorf! Even though it IS really boring here!!!!! -

Puff Mama, I need your opinion on something since you are the neurotransmitter goddess. I started taking that Pristiq yesterday. I have had that little stomach bug all week, but I felt fine yesterday before I went to work. A few hours into work (about 3 hours after I took the Pristiq) I got clammy, had a low grade fever, almost passed out again, was nauseous, my heart rate was in the 130's, and my blood pressure was sky high. We took my blood sugar and it was 78, so a little low, but it has been down to 60 before and I have not had symptoms like that. So I am wondering if maybe it was a reaction to the Pristiq? Just curious what your thoughts were. At any rate, I think I will wait until I have my days off to try it again! I almost had to go home from work but we couldn't find anyone to relieve me! -
