There are potentially bad side effects with all antidepressant medications. That being said, it is a very individual thing which one is going to work the best for you. My best friend and I both have been on nearly every different one-she loves Cymbalta and thinks it works the best for her, and I swear by Effexor. It just depends on your body. This probably didn't help much, but I just wanted to share my experiences. I believe any doctor would probably agree with this.

I jumped on the BAND wagon today! Surgery complete....
munchkin392 replied to divaofsongs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah, Miss Mona, you did it!! You're going to hurt like heck for the next few days, but I promise, it gets a little better every day! Take your pain meds and rest, that is what helped me the most! Let me know if you have any questions. And I second what you said about Dr.K, he is great. I was extremely impressed with him and also very, very impressed with the surgery center (and I am a nurse, so I have high standards)! CONGRATS Miss Mona! You go girl! -

Congrats to all you new bandsters! And don't worry, the pain does get better. I am sleeping in my own bed, on my side and my stomach a week later! Everyone have fun at RR tonight! -
I just need to vent. We have an ongoing dispute with the neighbors across the alley. It is a long story, but let me assure you that we have never done anything to them (until when I finally got sick of it after 4 years and told the wife what I thought of her a few months ago...) Now, it's to the point that we cannot even go out in our own alley without getting harrassed by these people. When I flew home from having my surgery, they were in the alley, harrassing us. Tonight, my husband didn't go outside to do snow removal until 11pm in hopes that they would be in bed and would leave him alone. Oh no....that would be way too easy. The next thing I know is a cop is ringing my doorbell. Apparently, my husband was outside shoveling and the a**hole across the street came outside and tried to start a fight with him. My husband immediately just called 911 so things would not escalate any further. This is just ridiculous that we can't even live in our own house without being harrassed. We have contacted a lawyer, but the lawyer doesn't even think he will be able to do any good. Moving is not an option, does anyone have any suggestions?

Mini-Well, Dee already told you all my ideas as far as the pancreatitis goes, great minds think alike I guess! I'm sorry your son has to go through this, it is very painful. If they want to transfer him to a higher level of care because they don't know what is going on, I would probably go for it. Woofay-I have been taking my time released meds for the last few days (and praying they won't get stuck) and all seems to be ok. I think they probably may just take slightly longer to get absorbed if anything. Dee-did you get to go shopping and go out to lunch today? I finally feel like getting out of the house to do something, and I can't due to the weather (see below). Anyone here from Miss Mona? I hope she got there ok. I'm glad my surgery was last week or I would have never gotten home. We are now on our second ice storm since I got home from Colorado. EVERYTHING is closed, there is power out all over the place...it's gruesome. Thankfully our power has not gone out this time (yet). My poor dogs go out to go potty and look like they're on a skating rink! I am feeling better every day...still having some pain but I haven't taken any pain meds for about 2 days now. My incisions all look good. I go back to work Friday night. I think I will be ready by then. I just hope we have a light lifting weekend! I'm really afraid I'm going to pull on something. Wow, did anyone watch Oprah today? It's an episode about spousal abuse, it's really dramatic. An abused woman taped her husband abusing here. Wow. She finally left him and the prosecutor managed to get an 18 year conviction on the jerk. He made his wife call him "master". I don't think so!!!!!! It reminded me alot of a paramedic I used to work with who was in an abusive relationship. Her boyfriend used to get beligerant with me because I would not let him talk to me the way he talked to her. Sorry, I digress...I got off subject...ADD moment....:biggrin1: Mal,I love your doggie picture. I think of your dog when I'm on the way home from work, because the highlight of my morning drive home is this beagle that lives by me. He has an electric fence, and he is always out in his yard bopping around when I drive home. He is adorable, and he always is so curious and happy about everything. I wouldn't know what to do without my dogs-they are so funny and provide me with so much amusement. Well, my husband is off to shovel, so I am going to follow him with the camcorder in case my jerky neighbors decide to do anything. It's so sad that these people are so petty, especially since they're 20 years older than me. Get a life people! One of the girls killed in the Omaha mall shootings was from here and is being buried today. (She was only 24 and my sister and stepson both knew her and were friends with her in high school...) Isn't there already enough hate in the world without mindlessly perpetuating it? What is wrong with people?????? -
And no, they don't rent, they have lived here for 30 years, and think they own the block and the alley. They didn't like that the police didn't bow down to them tonight, so I'm sure more wrath will be coming. (But it will be ok because I will have my trusty camcorder! It might just end up being the best eBay purchase I ever made!) :biggrin1:
-
That is a genius idea to record them!!! I can't believe I didn't think of that! The lawyer did tell us to write a timeline out, and keep documentation of everything that happens, but the video tape idea is genius!! I bet they will think twice if they are being taped. I'm going to carry the camcorder with me everytime I go outside from now on I think. Thanks for the idea!

It sounds like it's just a small hematoma (a little blood under the skin that leaked from the vessel). It will absorb back into the body. You can put a warm compress on it if you want.

Dee, Are you rockin the stylish hospital sockies yet? Did you find them? I'll be happy to send you mine if you don't find them!:biggrin1: I can even get you a different color from my hospital, or perhaps you would prefer a snazzy pair of red ones that we use for fall precaution patients? (They have tread on both sides in case they get twisted around. My coworkers say that I'm so clumsy I need a pair more than the patients do!) -
Couldn't do my job without the help of my excellent CNA's!! I am lost when they are not there for us, they help soooo much!!

Hi everyone, Sorry to hijack your thread, but I am from the Quad Cities, and I was wondering if you know of any docs up there that provide fills to other doctors patients? I was banded in Colorado, not Mexico. Thanks! -

Want2bmeagain, Looks like we have another soul sista as far as the hospital goes! Maybe we were triplets seperated at birth?? And don't worry, I'm sure you didn't get kicked out of the surgery center for talking too much. I think they just took pity on me after hearing my nightmare flight story-I hadn't had hardly any sleep since I got off work the morning before. I was soooo tired I don't think they could get me to wake up. It was hearing that Dee had been in the waiting room for 2 hours that got my butt moving! I felt bad that she had been waiting for so long, so once I heard that, I was ready to wake up and get going! I also just want to say for the record, the surgery center was great-that place was sooo organized and all the nurses were great. -
Mona, You're awesome, you never fail to make me smile!:biggrin1:

Mona, Yes, if you are used to it being warmer, you will definantly want to take a coat, scarf, gloves, a hat, and possibly boots. I lucked out the days I was there, it was beautiful-it was 70 degrees Tuesday. But that is not the norm, and now it is cold and yucky like here in Illinois. Good luck with your travels! Woofay, Yes, I am one BIG OL hurtin unit. I have been taking the pain medicine and the Keflex like I'm supposed to. I haven't really needed the phenergan because I haven't been nauseous. (Except when I take the Keflex, the taste of it momentarily wants to make me puke...I should have asked the pharmacist to add flavoring to it like they do for kids!) I couldn't sleep all night last night because I was uncomfortable-lots of abdominal tenderness and gas, but I made up for it by sleeping all day today! My husband is being awfully good to me and one of my labs (who is usually my hubbys dog) will not leave my side. He has been sleeping with me in the living room on the couch since I got home. It's funny how they know when something is wrong. The other 3 have been relatively well behaved also, instead of running around and playing, they have been pretty sedate. Well guys, someone please tell me it gets better. Dee told me she has read the 4th day is the worst, so maybe I will feel better tomorrow! This is the wierd thing though- sometimes I feel like I'm starving and I want real food!! And I am craving wierd things that I don't usually want-like salt and meat. My body must be trying to tell me something. Did you all experience this also? :guess -

ShelbiCallie-I'm sorry to hear you've been sick. I hope you're feeling better. Having a cold sucks-I dread them. There was some guy behind me on the plane coughing the whole time and it was making me paranoid! To answer your question, I am feeling pretty darn good-I just wrote a post about it in the other Dr.K thread. I woke up with no gas pain, and no incisional pain except for a bit of soreness from my port incision. I have only taken my pain medicine once. I've mainly just been snoozing because I hardly slept for two days. I was so pooped out that it took them forever to wake me up after surgery!! But the nurse was nice and let me sleep for awhile. Unfortunately, Dee and her friend were waiting for me the whole time, which made me feel bad! But it was soooo awesome to meet them. They are really great gals. If I wasn't terrified of the NICU I'd want to move here and work with them because I think we would have a blast! And they had a good point- that I wouldn't have to look at any funky looking feet in the NICU! LOL!!! Little baby feet are always cute! No hairy toes, ingrown toenails, hammertoes, etc... Want2bmeagain, I have a sneaking suspicion that we are awfully alike. I was reading your post and cracking up, because I did almost the same thing when I got my gallbladder out. I got dressed, but I absolutely REFUSED to put my shoes on because it hurt to much to bend over!! I acted like a 5 year old! The nurse was this older, motherly nurse, and she was like "Honey, you have to put you shoes on to walk outside, you might cut your feet on something!" And I was like "Yeah, whatever, I don't care, I'm still not doing it!!" This is before I was married, and my poor ex-boyfriend was standing there shaking his head, knowing that she could try to talk me into it all she wanted, but it wasn't going to happen, because once I make my mind up about something, discussing it is pretty much pointless! I LOVE that you came home in your gowns!! I just have this vision of you, regally walking through the hotel lobby, and if anyone looked at you, you were like "Yeah, I"m wearing hospital gowns-what is it to you? Get over it, it's very fashionable!!" Now for the really important question-did you put your shoes on or did you wear your little hospital sockies home?? Enquiring minds want to know!! I hope everyone is happy, healthy, and doing well! Have a happy Thursday! :biggrin1: -

Hello everyone, I'm finally awake (for a minute) so I thought I would update you. ShelbiCallie, I am NOT that brave-I was a little scared before surgery. I heard an alarm going off on someone at one point, and it totally freaked me out. I thought "If that's someone coding, I'm out of here!!" But that was my only irrational thought. Otherwise, it went really well. They were soooo nice at the surgery center, really! They are a class act team of nurses! They took good care of me. My surgery went well. I had a really hard time after I got my gallbladder out, with the gas pain and nausea, so imagine my surprise when I woke up and had NO gas pain whatsoever, NO nausea whatsoever, and the only incisional pain I have is my port incision, and that is only when I get up and out of bed. I have only taken my pain medicine once. I am mainly just catching up on my zzzz's because I have been really sleep deprived for the last few days. The best part of my surgery was that Tied2BFit and her friend Marty came to pick me up and they are both awesome!! They brought me a pillow for the car ride home, and some delightfully yummy strawberry banana juice and Gatorade. They saw me into my hotel, and Marty even offered to let me stay with her if I come back for my fills. How nice is that of them?? Seriously, you don't meet complete strangers that are that nice and generous very often, so ladies, take a bow! And Dee, you didn't even tell me you had a new surgery date silly!! I'm so excited for you!!!!!:biggrin1: Now I am just keeping my fingers crossed that my flight doesn't get cancelled or delayed, because it's snowing quite a bit back home. Well folks, I've rambled long enough. I need to go do my incentive spirometer and take a walk! Sleep tight everyone! -

Well everyone, after my flight being cancelled and rescheduled, I finally arrived here Denver last night around 2 am. I see Dr.K today at 4 and my surgery is tomorrow!! I'm starting to get nervous!! It doesn't sound like we have many takers on RR, so I think I am going to go shopping tonight instead. Nothing to take my mind off things like some retail therapy (my other addiction)! I will update everyone tomorrow night when I am back at my hotel. Hope everyone is having a great week. Want2BMeAgain, you never fail to crack me up!! Grin! -
You reminded me of something I had completely forgotten about! I also had a cat that stole my jewelry. I didn't even realize she was doing it until I went to retrieve a toy from under my dresser one day, and there was a big pile of shiny stuff under there! At my old house, I had a bathroom sink with lever style faucet handles, and two of my cats liked to turn the faucet on when I was gone (or if they were just bored). I found one of them with his head under the faucet getting it all wet one day! I love Maine Coones! The cat that used to do perverted things to my head (who, by the way, had been hit by a car before I owned him, so I think he had brain damage) was a beautiful Maine Coone. How anyone could have abandoned him is beyond me. His name was Mr.Tails (my neighbor named him before he was mine) and he has long since gone to the rainbow bridge, but he was an awesome cat.

I hate Walmart also. Has anyone seen the documentary "Walmart-The High Cost of Low Prices"? It's been on Starz channel. Wow, what an eye opener!! They treat their employees like absolute dirt!! Seriously, I was so disgusted by this documentary I vowed never to shop there again, and I haven't. I go to Target for everything!!

Want2bemeagain, I already thought of that...I weighed myself without the cast prior to going to the doctors office, then with the cast when I got home, so I know how many pounds to deduct! Pathetic, eh?
