GNC Protein Shake suggestions?
munchkin392 replied to MamaJava's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What flavor Crystal Lite do you add to your Alpine Punch out of curiosity? I have a whole case of the Alpine Punch that I haven't tried yet. -
Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Part Two Dr. Kirshenbaum
munchkin392 replied to want2bmeagain's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hello everyone!! Sorry I haven't been around in awhile! It sounds like everyone is doing great with their weight loss! I have lost 19 pounds since surgery five weeks ago. I go for my first fill next week. It won't be soon enough- I can't eat as much as I used to, but I can still eat too much! But all in all, considering I still have a cast on my foot and haven't done much physically for over a month, I think I'm doing ok. I get my cast removed next week too, so hopefully I'll be able to use my treadmill again, and if not that, my spinning cycle. I want to join the Y but my husbands ex-wife works there, so I don't think that will be an option- I can't deal with seeing her all the time! I'm going to check out some other options, we get alot of discounts on gyms through the hospital I work for. All of them are across the river in Iowa mostly though. Excuses, excuses huh? Other than that, I know now that I am not eating enough Protein, so I have to crack down on drinking my clear Isopure. (I HATE, HATE, HATE Protein shakes, they all smell like tube feeding that we give to patients to me...) My hair is starting to fall out already, and I don't have any hair to spare! It is very fine and thin to begin with, and I WAS trying to grow it out...wish me luck! Thankfully, no more PB's since my first one. I can tell with one bite usually now which foods are not going to agree with me. I have problems with chicken also it seems. Hope everyone is doing ok. Beautiful pics Tarheel!! -
I have to respectfully disagree with the above poster. After marrying at 23, and being in almost the exact same situation as you with the evil sister in law, all I can say is RUN. Get out while you can. It will not get any better. Your husband needs to grow up or else find someone else that will put up with his shit, but you don't need to be the one putting up with it. It will be hard at first, but you can do it. And 10 years later, you will be much happier without him, and much less willing to put up with any crap like that from any other man! You go girl!!:whoo:

Yes, I am a nurse, you guessed correctly. I did not know that statistics show nurses usually have an alcoholic parent...but it does not surprise me at all. I think a large majority of nurses have very codependent personalities. My family doctor and shrink both agree with this theory. Food for thought.

Famous People with the Lapband

Carnie Wilson had bypass. She was just on the Oprah show about transfer addictions, she became an alcoholic after her bypass surgery apparently. -

She was in the band Heart. -
I soooo 100% agree with what you said about families and addicts being attracted to each other. My addictions: food and shopping. My stepfather was a raging alcoholic while I was growing up. My husband is a (now sober) alcoholic. I never thought I would ever date someone with a substance abuse problem after what I went through growing up...but here I am. I also never thought I would have an addiction...yet here I am. And so it goes on.

Wow, it's really mature to tell people to GTH too....my mom always taught me that if I don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.... -
Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
munchkin392 replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Ok, I'll grant that you have gloating rights if you lived in WI and MN both! I live in IL and I hate MN-I have a friend that always wants me to move up there...nope, not going to happen!! Although I am told I already have the MN accent...people ask me all the time if I am from there. As for your question, I do not drink the protein drinks I am supposed to drink, because I basically cannot tolerate any of them except for the clear Isopure. And I am getting so I cannot tolerate that either. I don't know what my problem is, they just do not agree with me. So I try to eat my protein instead. -
Anyone get to stop using acid reflux meds (Nexium,Protonix) post-op?
munchkin392 replied to citygirl4616's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Before my surgery I actually had reflux so bad that I DID get it from drinking even water. I used to love drinking iced tea and had to totally quit drinking that because even a few sips sent me into agony for the rest of the day and night. Pepcid, Nexium, etc did not help. I downed TUMS like they were candy. I haven't had to take even one since I have been banded. It was almost worth the money just for that! -

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

LA, It is just not fair to boast of your balmy weather to those of us who are suffering through the freezing cold and inches upon inches of snow....Sigh...I want to move!!:scared: -
I was just wondering if anyone buys "motivation" clothes in smaller sizes...there are some awesome clearance deals right now, and now seems like the time to stock up on smaller sizes for my future weight loss. Any thoughts?
-
Well...my birthday is in a few weeks, so I'll be getting more mad money...I'm sure I'll be purchasing some more motivation clothes with my birthday money. I always buy clothes with my birthday money, because the sales are so good, I'll just have to guess a little at the sizes now. Right now I'm mostly sticking to XL tops which is basically one size smaller than I am now. I wear a 20/22 in jeans now, so I have bought some 18's and 16's. My absolute goal is to be able to soon fit back into my all time favorite pair of size 16 Gap jeans (but they fit more like a 14).....wish me luck all!!

Tell me about it! I have been getting sooooo paranoid reading other threads admonishing people for advancing their diets too fast! Now I'm already afraid I have damaged my stomach and my band. Every time I get a little twinge of pain, the paranoia sets in! -
Sue Sue, Another thing I should have said in my post is that unless my dog starts having very frequent seizures, my vet absolutely refuses to put him on phenobarbitol, she says it will damage his kidneys. Just something to think about. Hope you and your fur kid are feeling better!
-
Sigh....decisions, decisions. Target.com has winter coats on sale for $30 so I bought three new coats in smaller sizes....but now I'm afraid that by next winter they will be too big!!

Isopure clear protein drink
munchkin392 replied to jewelee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Look on GNC.com. You can get their gold card and get extra savings off a case of the Isopure. A lot of the time they have free shipping incentives also, so you can have it delivered right to your door instead of carting it all home from GNC-it is quite heavy for a case! They have a case with a bunch of different flavors so you can try them, but my favorite so far is the grape. I hate other Protein drinks and these are the only ones I can tolerate-I think they are great! -
I would definantly see an infectious disease doctor and possibly a wound specialist also. This has been going on for too long.

LA, I hope you had a good Christmas (as well as everyone else)! I think Dr.K will be able to answer your questions about the preop diet. He basically doesn't want you to eat anything "white". No potatoes, no rice, no pasta, no white bread, etc. That was what he told me. What do you think of your Isopure? What flavor did you get? I have a whole case of the apple-melon sitting here and it is not agreeing with me much. I really like the grape one though. If you like the apple melon let me know and maybe I can ship it to you! I do thank God for Isopure though, because I do not like protein shakes AT ALL. I am really sensitive to the smell of them for some reason. Let us know how your consult goes and how you like your Isopure! -
I couldn't have said it any better myself. My dogs always seem to find me, so I think there is a reason pets come into our lives. I do have a lab that is 8 years old and has had seizures since he was a puppy, and he does fine, so hopefully your fur kid will be ok also. I also had a cat that had epilepsy (which is very rare in cats), and he lived to be 14. Good luck.

Bad Christmas Eve today - total PBs.

Julie, Just wanted to see how you were and tell you I hope you made it through Christmas dinner ok! -
Wow, that's a serious bummer...I had been at work all weekend so I didn't get to see the news. So sad. Thanks for updating us Lap! Hopefully they will rapidly find the jerk that did this to her!

Has anyone seen this on CNN? This 21 year old girl just disappeared out of her house. It says she was extra cautious about security and safety. This stuff scares me so much...you can't ever be too careful.
