  1. How is everybody tonight? I am bored silly. I am in one of those moods where I want to do something because I am bored, yet I have no motivation to do anything. I hate being in a mood like this!! (Especially when I have things I actually need to be doing!) I went to the dentist today, and discovered why I probably have headaches all the time... and it is not because of my blood pressure. Apparently I am grinding my teeth quite badly when I sleep, to the point that I am wearing little notches into my teeth. Sigh. Now I need some plastic guard that costs $350. (That insurance will not pay for of course). I met a local gal on the OH forum and went to her first fill with her yesterday. I have to say, I am thankful for Dr.K's port placement. My fill doc has never had a problem accessing my port, but he had a terrible time accessing this gals. He poked her three times, with progressively longer needles, was digging around, and had her bleeding. It did not look like fun. He is sending her to have it done under flouro next time. It made me want to send a big hug Dr.K's way!!
  2. At least she didn't ask for Minnie Driver! Oh wait, that's me and Shelbie that picture you as Minnie Driver! Silly me!
  3. Brandy, I know your aggravation. I lost that 4 pounds after my fill last week, but my blood pressure has been a little high so I started taking my metoprololol again Friday night, and guess what? By yesterday I had gained FIVE pounds!! And I had eaten really well over the weekend, so I know it is probably from the medication! What the *#@*????? No more metoprolol for me!! I had always suspected it played a large part in the weight I had gained because when I started taking it coincided with when I started gaining weight, but now it is confirmed! Well, I am glad you are feeling better even if you haven't lost. At least you are not gaining, right? Nothing new with Dave, but a lurker on this thread PM'd me last week and told me she was really excited to see a Dave fan on a non-Dave forum. I told her you were a Dave fan too! She said she was going to see him in Atlanta this week. Lucky girl!!
  4. Brandy, How are you feeling? I hope you are doing better!
  5. Green- Steak specifically does this to me...my husband calls it my "special steak farts". Isn't that just so sweet of him??
  6. Hee hee, you quoted one of my all time very favorite movies!! It doesn't matter how manner times I see that movie, it still makes me crack up!! It is sooooo unpolitically correct in todays times!
  7. Mini-I am so glad to hear you are feeling better (even if you have to be sneaky about computer time). Adorkable-insist on that test so you can have peace of mind and know, like you said, that they checked into everything regarding your gallbladder, that way if it is not that you can get on with finding out what is causing the pain. And yes, I wholeheartedly agree that chronic pain sucks. I cannot wait to have surgery on my foot next month so I can get rid of mine. It makes me cranky! Dee-your name change confused me for a minute last night too, but I figured out soon enough who you were! BTW, I am really hoping my foot gets better and I don't have to have surgery so I can fly out to your neck of the woods and visit all of you when my friend has her surgery! I hope everyone else is having a healthy, happy Sunday!! Best wishes from the Munchkin/Labrador/Mastiff crew!!
  8. Shelbi-As always I agree with what Dee said. You probably don't need an AIC if your fasting is always ok, but it wouldn't hurt to get one either. My PCP always does one (mainly because I think he is convinced I am going to be diabetic even though my nonfasting sugars are always in the low 100's...he doesn't believe me I don't think! Men!) I also think you should just stick with what you are doing and maybe add the oats-I would not go on Niacin unless you absolutely have to because of the side effects, especially since your numbers are so close to normal. My fill doc does check a CMP and prealbumin on me every few months.
  9. Woofay-my very, very, most favorite dressing in the world is Kraft Zesty Italian, and it comes in a lite and a free version, all equally tasty. Very flavorful and yummy!
  10. So I thought this was pretty cool... Last night, one of my nursing supervisors called me from home and dropped a huge bombshell on me. She said she was so impressed by how I was doing that she is going to have the lap band done...and she is going to have Dr.K do it!! Isn't that cool?? I am SO excited for her!!
  11. Mini- They probably gave you a ton of IV fluids during surgery-you will diurese it out soon enough. No worries!
  12. Bookholder, I second what Dee said. The same thing happened to me over the last few weeks. I had restriction one day, and then BAM! Overnight I had no restriction whatsoever. Why it happens that way is beyond me? But I got a fill Monday and I have been good to go ever since! Good luck chickie!! We love ya!!
  13. Dee-you can have my hunk for sure, I think I am swearing off men forever after the whole husband ordeal!! :frown: Must be the name Hannah-the one across the street is adorable and a little comedian also! Mini-I was nauseous all the time after surgery, and after talking to Natalie extensively, we finally figured out it was probably the protein drinks-she said they just make some people nauseous. I quit drinking them and was fine. (That is why I have so much Isopure left!) But I have always been a freak of nature and I am probably the exception to the rule! You may be right, it may have been a virus, it may have been residual effects of anesthesia. (I was really scared to have my lap band surgery because I was HORRIBLY nauseous from the anesthesia when I had my gallbladder out. I was nauseous for about a week afterwards.) So give it a few days and see if it gets better my dear!
  14. OMG, you guys look AWESOME!!! Every one of you!! Dee, you're going to find some hunk before you know it!!! Hannah Banana is being shy eh? (I have to call her Hannah Banana, there is a little girl named Hannah that lives across the street from me and I have always called her that!)
  15. I have been having mucho problems with this site since the other day after I couldn't get on the internet forever. I thought it was just my computer! Miss Dee-put me down for a 3 pound loss since my fill Monday!! Yee ha, hello restriction!! Mini-I hope you have a safe flight back. Shelbi-Not only do I have to work, but I am getting floated to the other hospitals MICU! I hate floating! (I like my routine...I am a creature of habit...) To all my other peeps, Happy 4th of July!!!!
  16. Denise, Yep, that one was a tearjerker for sure. I was crying like a baby through most of it. I love that you call your daughter munchkin too! Especially when she is 6 feet tall! Too funny! I unfortunately was named that for being "vertically challenged" in the other direction.
  17. BTW Mini, great minds think alike. When you were talking about pics of us on Dr.K's website, I was thinking that we should have a naughty nurses section, then you said it for me! Tee hee! And Shelbi, I am really sorry we have made you laugh so hard that you have farted and had coffee coming out of your nose. Ok, not really. I will be sorry if we make you laugh so hard that you shart though!!:Banane30:
  18. Bratty Nicole- Welcome!! With a name like Bratty, you will fit right in here, right gals??
  19. Not sure what the Q and little angry frownie face is in my post but I didn't put it there! And I can't edit it out! Help, I think my computer has turned into Linda Blair from the Exorcist!!
  20. Hello everyone!! I didn't forget about you, I was having major internet connectivity issues over the last few days! I was starting to get frantic because they kept saying they were fixing it, but I would try to log on and nothing...then I decided to try one last time awhile ago and guess what...here I am! Mini!!!!!!!! YOU DID IT!!!!!:Banane30::thumbup::biggrin::thumbup: Big hugs from Illinois, I hope your tummy isn't too sore!! I am so wishing I could have been there to go to dinner with you guys! That would have been so fun! I also so wish I didn't have to take all my vacation time for my foot surgery in August so I could fly out and go to the BBQ!! Waah, I don't get to do anything fun!! Dee-I also want to personally hunt down the restaurant asshole and put the screws to him!! I may be small but I am mighty!! (And awfully bitchy alot of the time, tell him he does not want to mess with me or my Dee!) Seriously, what an ass! But I totally agree with everyone else, at least he showed his true colors before you put any further effort into him! Tell the new man he better treat you in the manner you deserve or he will have to contend with the Munchkin!! (When I worked on the casino, we used to have state police officers that worked there to oversee the gaming. They used to call me "the vicious little chihuahua", because they said I was deceiving because I looked all sweet and cute until someone screwed with me, then I turned into the aforementioned chihuahua! So see, he better be good to you or I WILL fly there all the way from Illinois!!) Mal-OMG, I would totally FREAK out if one of my dogs ran away from me! Seriously, you must have been terrified! But I love that Buster stopped and looked for traffic before he went out into the street! Too cute! I am so glad he is safe and sound and back with you! Shelbi-What's happening chickie?? How did spin class go? I was thinking of you today when I saw some gal in full cycling regalia! FW-I am really sorry about your daughters friend. That is so hard. I went to a code in the ER about 2 months ago, and it was a 19 year old that looked an awful lot like my 19 year old stepson. It was hands down the hardest code I have ever had to go to. We were not able to resuscitate him, and I walked back to the ICU, walked in, and just started bawling. I felt so horrible for this kids mom in the ER after we pronounced him. She thought it was her fault because she felt like something was wrong earlier and she had left him to go somewhere...she was screaming and crying...talking about how kids aren't supposed to die before their parents...it was just horrible. I am grateful to be a nurse, because while it is a very hard job sometimes, I am frequently reminded that life is often too short and taken away when we least expect it. It is very humbling to say the least. Bahot-I love firemen too! My first husband was a fireman, and my best friend in the entire world is a fireman also! He was my preceptor on the ambulance forever ago when I went to EMT school. I have all kinds of friends on the fire dept also from when I went to EMT school and worked on the ambulance. They are a great bunch of guys! The practical jokes they play on each other just about kill me! Too funny! And way to go on the size 10s!! I have been thinking about venturing into The Limited but I am not quite skinny enough yet! Soon! (I used to work at The Limited a very long time ago...loved the discount!)
  21. Dee- That's awesome! We get some great stories from nursing huh?? I had a really cute guy with dementia last night (well, he was cute when he wasn't trying to hit us!). He finally announced to everyone that I was a "real wiseass". Heh heh, sometimes those dementia patients are right on the money!! And for my weigh in....I am on a roll with another BIG FAT NOTHING lost!! Woo hoo! Like I said last week, at least I haven't gained, which would not have surprised me with how poorly I have been eating. I go for a fill Monday also! Phew!!
  22. Remember when they used to sell tapeworms in the drug store as a diet aid? (Ok, so I technically am too young to remember it, but my vet told me all about it at our last appoinment!Gross!!)
  23. Amen Mini!! When I flew back from Florida last summer there was the MOST obnoxious chick sitting across from me, loudly blathering on her cell phone during boarding about all the drinking her and her friends did, and how drunk they got, and her sexual encounters....she was dressed like a prostitute too...bet they didn't charge her extra for making us all listen to her obnoxious phone calls!
