Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
munchkin392 replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Howdy everyone, I could barely read all the posts from the last few days! Chatty bunch you gals are!! Wow, it was a crazy weekend at work. I had the CUTEST peds patient though-she was a precocious 4 year old and she had me in stitches all weekend. We were quite the duo! She wanted to "do my hair" which was fine until she said "I want to put little braids all over your head". I had to veto that idea! I did however warn my other patients that if I came back with crazy hair, it was because I was having a 4 year old stylist do it for me! Mini-one question...if you become a truck driver, are you going to have peace signs on your rig? Hee hee! That was the first thing I had a visual of when I read that. Question number two-DID you have a full diaper? I can't remember if I updated everyone on the neighbor/fence situation the other night. The lawyer basically said what I knew he would say-that the house next door has the burden of proof and they have to get the survey. He did say if I have to move my fence he will get the fence guy to do it for free or we will sue him because he basically didn't do his job correctly when he placed the fence. He also said he is going to look into getting criminal charges pressed against the evil witch across the alley for moving one of the property line markers. Karma really is a bitch honey!! And I made it clear to him to convey to the other party's attorney that if I do have to move the fence, there are plenty of other ways I can be detrimental to the sale of the property. Starting with having my friends 4 year olds come over to paint the side of it that faces their yard. It's called "choose your battles wisely". Fence 4 inches over the property line....or all kinds of other mayhem when you are trying to sell your house? The ICU nurses can be pretty obnoxious sometimes and I am sure some of them would be happy to visit when they are showing the house! Hmmm....decision would be easy for me personally. I made it clear to the lawyer that I am NOT playing nicely with these people any longer. He said I have "been very above board" with the situation the whole time and basically that I have been too nice for too long already. So I think I have found the right lawyer! After everything that witch across the alley has done to me, it would be poetic justice if she has criminal charges pressed against her, as she always attempts to portray herself as "holier than thou" to all the other neighbors. I hate to stoop to their level really, but enough is enough already. I guess it is time to give them a dose of their own medicine and see how they like it! Deb-Glad the Tuckermeister is doing better! Shelbi-I have not one, not two, but FOUR labs who do not like water. And the one that is the absolute worst about it is the one who used to duck hunt with his previous owner. He goes outside and if it is raining, he will immediately turn around and come back into the house. What can I say, I am clearly running a house for special needs labs!! -

 Yep, I just had the joy of having one of those last Wednesday. Isn't the barium delightful? My final weigh in when I went to the doctor Tues was 180. Of course I lost this because I haven't been able to hold down any solid food for two weeks! He took out 0.3 cc's after much debate which finally boiled down to me basically demanding he take out that much. He wanted to leave it!! It's official, I think my fill doctor is a crackhead for sure!! And what a coincidence, I can hold my food down now and haven't PB'd once...I guess it wasn't really "all in my head" after all! At any rate, I am now officially the weight I have lied about on my drivers license for the last 10 years! I ended my vacation tonight by slicing my index finger open on a paring knife while I was washing it. I had to go to the ER and get glued up. Sheesh. I am ready to go back to work after the vacation I have had! -

Dee-Zumba is kind of like a Latin Fusion class. It is basically an aerobics class based on different Latin dances. I think I will just order the videos and do it at home, that way I will pass out on carpet this time. And spinning classes are clearly out of the question until I find out what is going on. -

Ok....so here is my not so good spin class experience. We were about 15 minutes in, and doing "climbs" (standing on the bike). I have a history of having syncopal episodes (which is a big fancy name for saying passing out). I have not had one in about 5 years because I am VERY cognizant of the preceding signs/symptoms before I am about to have one. The first time we did climbs, I felt woozy, but it improved once we sat back down. The second time, I definitely felt my syncopal symptoms coming on- dizziness, nausea, and generalized just not feeling well. So I immediately got off the bike, went into the locker room area, and laid on a bench (which is what I am supposed to do-lie down). I layed there for quite some time, started to feel better. Sat up for awhile. The next thing I knew I was waking up on the floor-seems I had passed out after all. And I have a nice huge bruise on my jaw to prove it. Yikes. Kind of scared me. But I was really glad no one walked in and found me that way or it would have bought me an ambulance ride over to my place of employment across the street! (And probably scared the poo out of them because my heart rate drops to about 30 when I have one of these episodes. A lay person would have probably coded me!) So now I have a call in to my PCP. I have a feeling my electrolytes and such are all messed up from not eating well recently. Sigh....not a good way to start the day. -

Ok ladies, seriously, with all the drama going on in my life with the soon to be ex, money issues, neighbor issues, and my fill doc being a jackass, I am in a serious FUNK. I can usually pull myself out within a few days (and working out usually helps) but nothing seems to be doing the trick this time. I hate feeling pissed off all the time like this-it is soooo not me. -

Zumba kicked my arse tonight. There was an anesthesiologist from the hospital behind me in the class and I told her I was glad she was there so she could resuscitate me when I keeled over. Not sure how it is going to be on my plantar fascitis, it is already hurting more than it has been the previous few weeks, so I will see how it is in the morning. Seriously though, it was kind of fun. I am just woefully out of shape! I am trying the spinning class tomorrow if I can drag my lazy butt out of bed! I am NOT a morning person! :cursing: -

Dork-That sucks about your roof. I had to replace mine a few years ago, so I am feeling your pain, believe me! Mine was $6,000 and I have a little bungalow! But that is AWESOME about your promotion!!! Congrats!! Now you can hire me if I ever decide to quit being a nurse and go back to dispatching... And that is awesome about your gym membership prize too! -

Green-I would snap up that deal with Golds-that is a way better deal than our corporate rate through the hospital. We have a $69 enrollment fee and then it is $39.99/month. It would be much easier for me to swallow if it was $15/month! I think I am going to try the spin class tomorrow-although my cycling shorts and ALL my other workout gear it too big for me now, so I have no idea what I will wear. Sigh. More money to spend. The Golds we have here is pretty nice because it is only a few years old. I was impressed with alot of the equipment-nice, nice machines. Oh, and BTW, my fill doc is usually really cool. Him and I are going to have a "come to Jesus" talk about the "all in my head" comment at my next appointment. -

I checked out the Golds Gym across from where I work today. I wanted to check them out because they have spin classes and Zumba. I have a 7 day free pass, so if I can actually ingest enough calories, I am going to try both a Zumba class and a spin class. The spin class looks super fun (other than the whole ass pain factor). -

Not really unless I fly out to see Dr.K which I in NO WAY can afford right now. I think I am going to have them send the films to him so he can look at them though. To me it looked like my esophagus was dilated on the films, but what the hell do I know? I am just a stupid nurse. Oh, it DID show I was having reflux, which from what I have read is enough reason to take fill out of your band? And I had a small intermittent hiatal hernia which I did not have last year when I had a barium swallow. I'm telling you, something is just not right.... -

Had my barium swallow today and allegedly nothing is wrong. I quote, from my fill doctor "It's all in your head". This is my smilie for him-(Only without the smile). Yes, I have always been a compliant patient, and this did not happen until my last fill, but it is all in my head. Then, he refused to take any fluid out of my band. Then he made a comment about complications with all these patients who had other doctors put their bands in. I SERIOUSLY had to bite my tongue and not tell him that Dr.K has put in about 400 more bands than him!! So apparently folks, I am a bona fide nut case or I am bulimic according to my fill doc. Never mind the fact that I am going to have an emotional meltdown if I do not get to eat some solid food soon (but of course I would puke it up since I am bulimic)! BTW, what is with a few of the smilies-there is one smoking a big joint, a conehead, and two bananas doing the deed? Where could we possibly fit any of those into a sentence? -

Well, one good thing about all this stress is that I have actually been frustrated enough to walk, and walk, and walk on my treadmill. But not so good when I am hardly eating... I don't want to drink barium in the morning....BLECH!!!!! -

Lap-What issue was this article in? I would like to read it. I used to take Effexor until Feb when I got pneumonia-I was too sick to care about taking my meds and quit cold turkey (and was too sick to care about the withdrawal symptoms). I need to start something for depression again but I am very hesitant to start Effexor again (even though it worked great for me). I would like to see what that article has to say!
