I am 3 weeks out. I just tried the peanut butter balls and was sick for an hour. I was cleared for soft foods veggies and fruits. I am going to try a protein powder other than whey. I just hate that feeling. -

Can't drink protein shakes, afraid of hair loss

Can't drink protein shakes, afraid of hair loss
dariablah posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have spent lots of $$ on various different protein shakes, all of which make me nauseous. I am sitting here feeling the after effects of one, broke out in the usual sweat feeling horrible. I was lectured by the nutrionist today that if I dont drink 3 protein shakes per day, I will lose my muscle, become weak, and lose my hair. I am eating pureed chicken and other protein no problem. But she tells me my stomach cannot absorb the protein in food right now so protein shakes are my only alternative. She suggested mixing fruit, peanut butter into plain protein powder or trying Syntex Nectar. I seriously don't want to spend more money, and now the thought and smell of the shakes make me want to gag. I was reading on here about rolling protein powder into peanut butter balls? I am desperate, not wanting to lose my hair. What about drinking egg whites? Has anyone tried it? Please, any suggestions on how to drink more protein. -

May 19-23 Sleevers, Roll Call!
dariablah replied to ChavaBling's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a slow loser as well. Down 14lbs. Am hungry on and off during the day. I feel like I can eat more than most here and I don't know why. I can eat almost a whole container of Dannon light greek yogurt. If I can't finish the whole container, I wait an hour and polish it off. Getting enough protein, but not drinking enough water which I assume is the problem. -

Going It Alone - No Help After Surgery
dariablah replied to blondiebabs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My boyfriend left me and moved out a month before my surgery, so I was alone through the whole thing. Sadly he was my emergency contact at the hospital, and I really didnt even have one. My daughter is 20, so she drove me but she works and doesnt live me me. Luckily the surgery and recovery was easier than I thought. But I did it alone. Physically, it was easy, emotionally not so easy. -
I was sleeved on May 21 too it was a band revision. I only lost 13 pounds. Only one pound this week so far. I am on puree and eat a few spoons every hour..it feels like I am hungry. I am mainly eating greek yogurt and pureed meats. Sometimes some applesauce or eggwhites. I lost more the first month of my band. I know I am not drinking enough which may be the problem? Otherwise I feel ok but disappointed in my weight loss as well. I can totally relate to your stories.

May 19-23 Sleevers, Roll Call!
dariablah replied to ChavaBling's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had band to sleeve revision on May 21. I was 190 and only down to 178. Any protein drinks make me nauseous. I cant drink water. Ive been drinking unsweetened iced tea and propel zero. Any sugar makes me nauseous. I do have an appetite starangely enough. Been eating baby food meats and pureed chicken w ricotta cheese. My weight loss suddenly stopped Monday and I am worried I am eating too much and not drinking enough. Yesterday I had a jar of baby food, a few ounces of pureed chicken, few sips of protein shake, more baby food, half a cup greek yogurt and an ice pop. Only drank half a bottle of propel zero. What am I doing wrong? Why am I hungry all day! -
