  1. Congrats on your success!! Those last 20 are always the toughest. Try doing something different to shake things up a bit. I different exercise routine or go back to how you ate the first couple of months. Best of luck! Carol
  2. People need to relax. It was funny and obviously meant to be so. Best of luck!
  3. My belly no longer touches the steering wheel when I drive!! I'm short so I have to get pretty close to the wheel anyway and this has always been such a source of embarrassment to me when others rode with me. YEAH!!

    Genepro

I also use it in hot decaf and never worry about the temperature. I just mix it well then add a little shake to my cup every now and then to keep it from settling (i use an insulated cup with a lid).
  5. @@Okiebon I wanted to let you know what my friend just texted me about her labs. She uses only GENEPRO as her suppliment. Our surgeon checked her CBC, B12, Folic Acid, Potassium, Magnesium, Serum Protein (total), Vitamin D, Calcium, Iron, HQ AIC, Lipid Panel, and PTH, and ALL of her labs came back great! I have the order for my labs and will get blood work done in December. As soon as I get the results back I will let you know. Genepro did the job. I sent the website to my NUT and surgeon's office before I started taking it and both approved it. I was concerned about it not being whey isolate since we were told that was the best protein and what we should be using. This is her email response: "Hey Carol, Whey peptide is completely appropriate. It's basically just the isolate form broken down one step further so if you like it, keep drinking it!" Hope this helps. Carol

    Ideal size?

I'm 5'3 and currently in a size 14-16 or XL. I would love to be a size 8-10 and a medium. Best of luck to you!

    Exercise and calorie intake

Yes, I did. My NUT wants me to never be below 1000 calories and to aim for 1000-1200 and at least 80 grams of Protein, daily. I'm 3 months out and thought these calories were high but she assures me they are not. She also wants me to get most of my calories from food so I only take one protein supplement a day. I'm still losing well. Your exercise routine is great! Good for you! Carol
  8. @@Okiebon I am scheduled for my 3 month follow-up next week, and I assume I will be getting bloodwork then. I'll post and let you know after I get my results. I also have a friend I met in our support group who is a month ahead of me, who is also using only GENEPRO, and I'll contact her and see if she's had blood work yet and what her results were. So far, I've had no problems. I've not noticed any hair loss yet and I have tons of energy, and my weight loss is pretty steady. Carol
  9. It's great to hear you are doing so well! Same here! I am so happy with this surgery. I have been allowed to add a little bread back so long as it's toasted (whole wheat, rye or whole wheat sandwich thins) and some crackers. I love Nut Thins since they have a little Protein in a serving. Wishing you continued success! Carol
  10. I've read quite a few "what's for breakfast" posts the last couple of days and I've been surprised to see Cereal and milk as one of the Breakfast options that some folks eat. I was just wondering how that worked since we aren't supposed to have any liquid with our meals because of washing food from the pouch? My NUT says no to it but I was wondering if others say it's okay? I miss having that quick option for breakfast but I'm afraid to try it. What's your opinion? Carol

    Cereal and milk

@@Amyllf2 do you use milk with it or eat it plain? I'm not concerned about the protein, I'm just curious about the milk washing the cereal from the pouch since we can't drink when we eat. I've added it to my yogurt, but I've not had cereal with milk. My NUT doesn't even want us to eat soup unless we drain most of the broth off.

    Cereal and milk

I typically have greek yogurt or eggs for breakfast as well. I guess I was just surprised to see so many having cereal and milk at the same time.
  13. I bought a couple of outfits in the "regular" woman's department. It was so exciting to not have that W or X attached to the size!

Congratulations!! You look great! So happy for you! Carol

    Scared of missing comfort foods!

Trust me, after surgery you will not miss comfort food. Food becomes fuel and nothing more, at least for me. I could care less what I eat so long as I get enough protein.
  16. Just wanted to say welcome and best of luck to you! Carol

    V8 juice

I love V8 and have been drinking it from the beginning. It's my go to if I'm running short on protein at the end of the day and I feel like I just can't eat more. I'll mix a scoop of my favorite protein and I'm set. I love it since it's not sweet!

    Protein powder

There are hundreds of whey Protein powers to choose from. The best thing to do is to get samples from different companies and try them. Don't buy a lot before surgery because your taste and tolerance might change. I've used unjury and Premium chocolate shakes, and for me, both are very hard to take. They have a very strong whey taste and smell and they are very sweet.I discovered GENEPRO Protein from theses board and that's all I use now. You can find it at Amazon.com and the company websit a Muscleglen Research. It is odorless, tasteless, and can be mixed in hot liquids and most anything. Best of luck on your surgery! Carol
  19. I only drank one cup of coffee a day before surgery, but I drank tea and soda all the time. Now I drink decaf tea and coffee and no soda and don't miss the caffeine at all. I can't taste the difference.

    Caloric Intake

I just had my 6 week NUT visit and was eating around 600-650 calories a day. She told me that I MUST get my calorie intake up to 800, minimum a day and really wants me to be closer to 1000! She wants me to do this by adding Snacks. It's hard! I've hit 800 calories once. I'm trying but there's just not enough time in the day to get it all in it seems. Good luck to you!
  21. I love My Fitness Pal for the scanner. It's so easy to use.
  22. @@jessiquoi that's it. I order from Amazon.com
  23. Nope, it's not chalky either. It disappears! I've been told by my NUT to always use whey isolate and not whey concentrate because the isolate is more absorbable so I was concerned that the GENEPRO Protein didn't say either. I sent the info to my NUT and she said the peptide was just a smaller form of the isolate so I was good to go. I told my surgeon's office about it and they now add it to their list of recommended Proteins for new patients. I gave away all the other proteins I had bought because I just couldn't stand the whey smell and taste. Genepro is the only one I use now. I hope it works as well for you! Carol
  24. I mix it with everything - hot decaf coffee,V8 juice, yogurt, sugar free pudding, applesauce, smoothies... You are going to love it!
  25. GENEPRO Protein is COMPLETELY odorless and tasteless. It has been a lifesaver for me because I couldn't tolerate how sweet the usual shakes are nor could I stand the whey taste/smell. I would gag trying to drink them. You can get this protein from the company website or from Amazon.com; just google it. I mix it in everything including hot coffee, yogurt, V8 and it disappears, oh and it's 30 grams per scoop. Both my surgeon's office and the NUT approved it. Good luck! Carol
