    Welcome Lap Band Veterans!

Thank you for this!!! Looks promising without being drastic. I really appreciate your wisdom.
  2. I have been through a rough time since I posted last. I have been in and out of Emergency with pain around my port, on my second dose of antibiotics, had 2 CT scans and a dye test. So far it appears my band is not leaking but it could be a very slow leak. It seems that when my surgeon went in to check my port with surgery a month ago, I got an infection. Once a port or band gets infected it has to come out. That would mean I have to pay for another band. I paid 15,000.00 ten years ago. In the meantime I am trying to get the infection under control. One radiologist says my port looks normal and another says it doesn't. My family Dr. and a second surgeon says it does not look normal but my Bariatric Surgeon says it is normal. I am so frustrated. I just want my band working with restriction the way it did for nine years. If you or anyone you know has any experience please let me know. With thanks!
  3. Thanks for replying! According to my Bariatric surgeon once an infection is in the port or tubing to the port it is unlikely to heal and the entire band must be removed.
  4. I had my mid band surgery in 2004. I successfully lost 87 lbs. Over the past 6 months I have gained 38 lbs! I have gone in for many Fills and can't maintain restriction. After a couple of days my restriction disappears. I have had the barium test and last week in day surgery had the port checked. It is fine. My surgeon is at a loss. There was 6cc in my band. I have always needed a larger fill than his other patients. I am hungry all the time, eat healthy, organic foods but due to Polycystic Ovarian Disease compounded with genetic obesity I have to eat next to nothing to maintain weight loss. I eat about 1200 - 1500 calories a day keeping carbs low. The band gave me the restriction I needed. I am at a loss as is my surgeon. Please, any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. I am depressed and ashamed of the weight gain after so many years of success. I do not know where to turn for help.
  5. Hi - Thanks for your reply. Its not a case of poor eating habits as my band has stopped keeping restriction. 9 years no problems. I go in for a Fill, have good restriction and within 2 days restriction is gone.
  6. I would be interested in hearing from people who have found that the Band stops working. Mine worked successfully for 9 years until now.
