I really enjoy reading the posts, but every time I read about someone having a rough time it worries me. When I don't read them for a few days I feel really optimistic about the surgery. (mine is on Oct 16th). I guess its because I had a laproscopic gall bladder surgery 3 years ago and a hernia repair this past January with absolutely no pain or gas issues. My Dr says the Lap Band should be much like the gall bladder and probably I won't have any problems, but then I read about all the gas and pain and I get worried again. Has anyone had this surgery without a lot of pain and gas ? Judy

October, 2007 -- my new and improved life begins!

Hi - my name is Judy and I live in north central Ohio. I've been thinking about and planning to be banded for a few months, but now its really going to happen. I start my pre-op 'drinking' on October 10th. My surgery is the 16th. I'm not too worried about the six day starvation, but wonder how it went for those of you who are far past that and on your way to some 'thin-ness' ?? Nice to be here with you all! -

Hi Sbee - I did find my way here! Thanks for the invitation! Do you know yet when you will be banded? What part of Ohio are you from? -

Now I'm worried - I won't have anyone here to take care of me. My Dr didn't think it would be a problem.. will it ? -

Hello! I'm another Judy. I'm 57 (for a few more weeks) and I'll be having my surgery on the 16th of October. So far I haven't told anyone and I'd love to just do it without anyone knowing, but I live in Mansfield and I'm going to Riverside in Columbus. My surgeon won't let me drive home.. (I know he's right), so I have to figure something out. Anyway, I'm very excited and I know at my age especially there are very few other chances for me to change my life so dramatically. I'll be quite proud of myself when this is over. Anyone else from the Central/North Central Ohio area? -

Wow - this is a great forum! I'm so glad I found it because I haven't told anyone yet that I will be banded on October 16th. My birthday is the 21st, so I figure this will be the best gift I can give myself! I'm 57 years old and I wish this procedure would have been available when I was younger, but there's no time like the present! I have two precious grandkids who always want me to get down on the floor to play with them and its so hard to get back up at my size.. that I usually just tell them I can't. Soon grandma will be down on the floor having a great time with Sam and Lily !! My question is - how long was it before you could drive and return to work? I've recently had hernia repair and a couple years ago gall bladder surgery and I bounced back in about two days. My surgery is on a Tuesday and I'd like to be back on the job (sitting at a desk all day) by the following Monday. I live alone so I need to drive as soon as possible. Thanks for any replies!!
