Cauliflower crust.....now THAT does sound interesting, lol. I would give it a try though. I am always looking for new ways to make pizza
-
I am not doing low carb right now, but I thought this would be nice for those that are. I made this a while back and it's really good. I was skeptical, but it really is pretty amazing. Ingredients: For the crust: For the pizza: 1 (8 oz.) package of full fat cream cheese (room temp.) 2 eggs Freshly ground black pepper Garlic powder 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese 1/2 cup jarred marinara sauce* A pinch of cayenne pepper 1/2 teaspoon oregano 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, or more if desired Sauteed pepperoni Garlic powder *Finding a sauce that doesn’t contain added sugar is not easy, but I did find a “no sugar added” by Ragu that with a few added seasonings tastes fantastic on the pizza. You could always make your own too but I’m not THAT brave yet. Directions: For the crust: For the pizza: Preheat oven to 350. Butter a 9×13 baking dish Blend cream cheese and eggs and season with pepper & garlic powder Add parmesan cheese and stir until combined Pour into buttered baking dish Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown (this step is important. Make sure it cooks until golden brown so that it doesn't turn out too soft.) Let crust cool for 15 minutes before adding toppings After crust is cooked, raise oven to 400 degrees Mix together marinara sauce, garlic powder, cayenne pepper & oregano Top crust with marinara and spread evenly Top with mozzarella cheese Add toppings Bake for 8 minutes or until cheese is bubbly This pizza really surprised me. I made mine with ground beef as topping, but you can use any topping you like. My husband even liked it....and he is super picky!! The crust is not crisp like traditional pizza. Make sure you cook it til the top is golden brown and let it cool the full 15 minutes before adding the toppings and that will help.

How To Make Your Own Nutella...without All The Calories And Fat
georgia girl posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love Nutella, but I don't like wasting 200 calories and 11g of fat on 2 tbsp of it. I made my own today for only 80 calories and 3g of fat. Granted, it's not made with hazelnuts, but you get the same kind of taste with this. I used some in a smoothie this morning (I call it Nutella pumpkin Smoothie...YUM!) and I also put some on my whole wheat toast today for lunch. It was delicious!! Ingredients: 2 tbsp PB2 powder (basically ground peanuts without the add fat like in peanut butter) 2-3 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder (I used 3 and it came out with a rich dark chocolate taste) 1 tsp of raw natural honey (if you like yours really sweet, you could always add a little more) about 2 tbsp of Water In a small bowl, add PB2 and cocoa. Whisk together with a whisk until most of the lumps are gone. Add honey and 1 tbsp water. Mix well. Add another tbsp of water if it's too thick. You can add as much or as little water as you like depending on your desired consistency. Enjoy! *I think there is a PB2 powder that already has cocoa added to it, so you could just omit the cocoa if you have that kind. *If you are not fond of a rich dark chocolate taste, you could use a little less cocoa and a little more honey and it should dial the flavor down a little. I love the dark chocolate taste though! -
Try adding a frozen banana (cut into at least 4 pieces- makes it easier to blend). It kind of gives it a milkshake consistency. Here's my go-to recipe... 1.5 cups unsweetened almond milk (this is a thick milk, so it helps with thickness too.) 1 scoop chocolate Peanut Butter Protein powder 2 tbsp PB2 powder mixed with Water to make peanut butter paste 1 frozen banana Blend it all together and enjoy. It is thick and delicious!

I use black beans all the time in my chili! I hardly ever use any other kinds of beans now.

Seriously Messed Up Today :(

I am going to mimic what everyone else has said. We all have bad days. The important thing is to learn from it and get back on track....immediately. I have bad days from time to time and feel guilty as well, but I forgive myself and move on. Hope you have a better day today -
I have a Breville juicer too. I love it! It works fantastic! Good luck with your juicing, m.boyer!

Thanks for the info, Kimberly!

I peel my lemons too. I think I will peel my cucumbers when I do try them since cucumbers seem to be overpowering. Maybe it will help. About the cabbage....is it best to juice just cabbage for the ulcers, or can you mix it with other stuff and get the same results? And how much and how often should he be having it? Thanks!
-
I have not tried cucumbers yet. I have been wanting to though. Do you guys leave the peeling of the cucumbers on? Seems like I read somewhere to peel them first if you wanted a milder cucumber flavor. I have seen Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead, too. It was very inspirational. For me, seeing it was a Godsend. I don't fast like Joe and Phil, but I try to juice once or twice a day. My band won't allow me to eat many vegetables and fruits, so I love getting in these nutrients without having to stuggle. readytogoforit, my husband found out he has multiple ulcers (doctor estimated about 8 of them!). He has been losing weight and eating healthier and taking meds to help with the ulcer pain. I will have to let him know about the cabbage. That would be awesome if it could help him!

I have been thinking of buying a juicing recipe book too. I usually use kale, spinach, carrot, and apple every time and change up the other things I add. I WILL NOT use celery again. It didn't taste too bad while drinking it, but it left a HORRIBLE taste in my mouth. I brushed and brushed and couldn't get rid of the awful taste. Ugh, it was bad!
-
That sounds good! What else do you typically have with the red bell pepper and ginger? I have been wanting to try beets, but I'm not sure I will like it.

I recently purchased a juicer and I have had fun trying out new things. Here's one of my most used recipes. I will even have this for dinner many times and feel great about putting such great nutrients in my body. There is absolutely NO WAY I could eat near this many vegetables and fruits. It's really the one thing (besides scrambled eggs) that I can't eat much of anymore. 5-6 kale stalks 2 big handfuls of spinach 4 medium carrots 2 apples about 6 strawberries 1 lemon (peeling cut off) 1 lime (peeling cut off) *fresh ginger- optional (I sometimes use it and sometimes don't- be careful and only use a little because it can overpower the recipe....I use about 1/2 inch piece) I have been googling recipes, but it would be awesome to get some recipes that people have tried out and tested. Anyone that would share some of their favorite recipes would be greatly appreciated!

Most doctors do recommend high protein/low carb....I just chose not to follow that. I rarely drink slimfast, just every once in a while. Not because of the carbs, because I try not to have much artificial sweeteners in my diet. -

I have a question- how do you all wash your fruits and vegetables before juicing (or blending)? I have heard some say, just wash with Water and others have said to make your own vegetable/fruit wash by mixing water, vinegar, and baking soda (I think?- can't remember exactly what I read and where I read it). Anyway, just wondering what you all do.... Thanks!

I just ordered a juicer and I can't wait for it to come in. I have so much trouble eating vegetables (they get stuck easily) unless I cook them to death and even then I sometimes have trouble and they have lost a lot of their nutrients. I am looking forward to getting in some wonderful nutrients without having to struggle with eating them. I eventually want to do a fast, but I think at first i will be having juice for Breakfast and a snack, and eat solid food at lunch and dinner. My hubby and I are going on a cruise next month and when I get back, I plan on doing a juice fast to detox and then plan to follow a vegetarian diet. I have been looking online for recipes and I signed up for a free e-book that has 25 recipes. I am going to attempt to paste the recipes, but if it doesn't work, check out www.myjuicecleanse.com http://app.getrespon...=Br&s=IcDkK&y=Q&

I have tried going vegetarian a few times and I really love eating that way, but I have a hard time eating vegetables. I have no problem with meat. I don't eat as much meat as I used to and may eventually end up following a vegetarian diet in the future. I ordered a Juicer the other day and I can't wait for it to come in. I am looking forward to juicing lots of vegetables and fruits! I am ready to get in some great nutrients without having to struggle with eating it. I have never attempted going vegan though. I followed a Lacto-Ovo vegetarian diet a while back and it worked well for me. Good luck, everyone!
