Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits
georgia girl replied to georgia girl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am back from my appointment at the OTC. I had a fill of .25cc about two weeks ago and I haven't felt a difference so I decided to go and get another fill. When I got on the scale, it showed I had gained 4 lbs in 2 weeks!!! I was shocked!! I have never had a gain. Elizabeth seemed to think that the antibiotics I have been on could have caused it. I am also expecting TOM in the next few days, so maybe that has something to do with it too. Anyway, I asked her if she would withdraw all my fluid and just check the amount. I sometimes worry I have a leak because all of my fills seem to last only a couple of weeks. I was supposed to have 6.75cc and she withdrew 6.25, which is good. Some can evaporate over time, so she said that was a normal amount to lose. So she put the 6.25 back in and added .5 more, so now I actually have 6.75cc in there. I can already tell a difference. I am having to sip slowly. Hopefully this one will hold for a while. Was anyone there today at about 9:00? I heard someone come in but by the time I got out, I didn't see anyone. They could have been weighing or already in a room. -
I pretty much feel the same way you do. Even though I still like him a lot, I thought for sure that Jason was out. I was pretty worried about Brooke last night too. I thought it could have been her who was sent home as well. Poor thing, she was shaking during her performance. I agree with whoever said that the judges have destroyed her confidence. Syesha did so well. I could definitely see her having a future in Broadway. I think if the winner is chosen by talent, David Cook will take the cake. I was a little surprised that he didn't change up the song to fit his style. But, I think it was a wise choice. It definitely showed me that he can really sing. I thought it showcased his vocal ability better than any other song he has performed. Carly can definitely sing, I just think she over does it a lot. Too much shouting for me. I didn't really like her performance. David A, eeeh. It's not that I don't think he can sing, because he can, very well actually. I just don't care for him as a person. Everything about him irritates me. Grrrrr. Okay, I'll stop now.

Which celebrity do YOU think needs the Lap Band?
georgia girl replied to **pink**'s topic in Rants & Raves
I definitely think there are obese celebrities that would benefit from having lap band, but it's not my place to pick and chose who needs it. I'm trying to think of this from a personal point of view. How would I feel if someone put my name on a "lap band list"? Any obese person, famous or not, would most likely benefit from lap band. The problem I have is, many of the ones listed would not even come close to qualifying for the surgery and are hardly overweight, which tells me that some people are just being judgmental. -
Which celebrity do YOU think needs the Lap Band?
georgia girl replied to **pink**'s topic in Rants & Raves
I was thinking the same thing. I love that you brought this up! I wonder if 7 is some one's favorite number? Back to the topic. I just don't understand why anyone would enjoy making a list of celebrities that they think needs lap-band. Who are we to judge? I think it's just rude. How would you feel if you were in a crowded room of strangers and a few of the people decided they would sit in the corner and point out the people who they think needs WLS and word got around that YOU were one of them? I would feel so embarrassed and hurt. Most all of us (as overweight, obese, and morbidly obese people) have been picked at and criticized our entire obese lives, whether we know it or not. I remember that feeling and I don't want anyone else to have to feel that way, whether I know them or not. Just because they are celebrities and we don't know them personally, doesn't make it okay to scrutinize them about their weight. I mean, really....... to sit here and call off people like Britney Spears, Vince Vaughn, Jennifer Hudson, Kimberly Locke.......none of these people would even qualify for lap band! There is a big difference in genuine concern for someone who is obese, and poking fun/gossiping about someone who is a little "thicker" than we think they should be. -
Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits
georgia girl replied to georgia girl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Jeannie Everyone knows I had the surgery too. All my family, friends, church family.....everyone. I decided that I wanted to tell everyone because I knew everyone would be asking what I was doing to lose weight, especially since I have so much to lose. I also did it for accountability as well. I know that people are watching me and that keeps me motivated. There have been a few people that I barely know ask what I was doing and I just tell them. I am an open person as well and it just doesn't bother me that people know. But, if I had a job, it might be different. I used to work with some ladies that were big time gossipers/talk about you behind your back kind of people. Honestly, if I stilled worked with them, I probably would not have been so open about it. I guess it all depends on the type of people you are surrounded by. I can totally understand why some people wouldn't want to tell everyone. -

B'fast- 1/2 can low carb slim fast Lunch- 3/4 c. cottage cheese mixed with weight watchers yogurt Snack- 1/2 can low carb slim fast Dinner- 1 cup homemade spinach chicken salad -
Most everyday I drink a low carb slim fast for Breakfast (20g protein). I am not a big breakfast eater in the first place, so it works out really good for me. Maybe you could talk to your doctor about it. Tell him you are pretty tight in the mornings and it's really hard to get solid food down. Maybe he would be okay with it.

Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits
georgia girl replied to georgia girl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Leslie Don't worry, it's totally normal. My weight went up and down for a while after I started mushies. Just do the best you can until your fill. Have you started any type of exercising? I know you can't do anything strenuous yet, but has Dr. B cleared you to walk? Walking will help in keeping you from gaining until your fill. Onder woman Congrats on your surgery coming up. Wow, less than a week away. As far as your work situation goes, some people just need to be told to mind their own business. Most people will respect your decision not to share, but some are just too nosey. Maybe your secretary hushed her up. Hopefully she will not continue to ask you about it. If she continues, you may just have to point blank tell her it's none of business. Then maybe she will get it, lol! Anyway, good luck with your surgery on Monday. Be sure to check in when you feel like posting. -
Wombat, WTG on the 5k!!! I hope one day I can do something like that. Ceredad, you never cease to amaze me! Good job! This morning I did 40 minutes on the elliptical.

Wow, I can't beleive it's been 7 months!! It has been a lot harder than I thought too! I've really had to step up the cardio lately. All in all, I am very happy with my results. I still have bad days (and weeks), but it is sooo much better than my pre-band days. Everyone is doing so well! I'm so proud of everyone!

Congrats Jeannie, that's awesome!! I can't wait to be "overweight", as strange as that sounds, lol. I am also the baby of the family and I am definitely still daddy's little girl, I always will be. It is funny that no matter how old we get, we still want to please our parents. You have done so well, Jeannie. Keep up the good work! -
My PCP is disappointed...
georgia girl replied to mrsgriffin2u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you like coffee? Sometimes I blend my shake (chocolate) with some leftover coffee and ice.... I love it!! -
Congratulations on your approval!! I agree that low carb works to drop pounds quickly. I have done many times. I have done the 2 week induction (Atkins) before and lost about 15 pounds. Good luck to you!!

Since you are not drinking much, you could be a little dehydrated. Try getting some gatorade (there is a new one with less calories, G2 I think) and see if that helps. Try to work up to drinking more too. Hope you feel better soon.

Banded April 11. Eating Question
georgia girl replied to BandedFootballC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on the 25 lb weight loss! I suggest you go back to creamy fluids. Even though you probably didn't hurt anything, it is best to follow your doctors guidelines to a T. Give your stomach time to heal. I know it's hard to be on liquids, but it is crucial that you follow your doctors instructions, especially the first few weeks. Believe me, it will be worth it. Good luck to you! -
Headache, weak spells
georgia girl replied to JennyLynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
JennyLynn First of all, congrats on the surgery. Sorry you are feeling bad, be sure to up your Water intake and see if that helps. Okay, I'm not harping on you, but you need to be very careful with your food. Some of the things you listed that you ate are NOT considered mushies. Deli meat and broccoli are not mushies. I know deli meat is pretty soft, but you need to give your stomach time to heal. You've only been banded for 3 days! I am amazed that you are already on mushies. I was on liquids for at least 2 weeks. Did your doctor say it was okay to start eating mushies? Did he/she give you a list of appropriate foods to eat? Please be careful, I would hate for you to mess up your band. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon.
