    Some people, I swear...

Where can you buy them? $100 is mighty steep. I definitely wouldn't want to put that much into one right now but I might possibly reward myself with one once I lost most of my weight. My girls are rather large, so I definitely need help in that area, lol.

    Just posting to post :smile2:

    Some people, I swear...

Laurend, what's a miracle suit? I hate shopping for swimsuits too! I like to be really covered and the only ones that have enough coverage for me, is the ones that look like a little dress and let's face it.....they're not the best looking swimsuits. They end up looking like a sack on me. Grrrrrr, it's very frustrating! Hopefully when by June or July, I will feel better about wearing one.

    80's Trivia

I know I'm not quite 30 yet, but I'm pretty close, lol. I love 80's stuff. Renewed, my hubby is STILL jealous of Ralph Macchio, lol. I own all 3 movies and I still love to watch them. I had the biggest crush on him. He's the reason I wanted to take karate lessons......I'm still mad at my parents for not letting me, lol.

Protein Bars are full of SUGAR!

Right now I have the South Beach Diet Living High Protein Cereal Bars.......wow that's a mouthful. I bought the variety pack. It comes with Peanut Butter, chocolate, and cinnamon raisin (I love the cinnamon raisin.....yummmm). They have 6g of sugar and 10g of protein. I really like them. I have used the Kashi ones too. I like them as well, but I don't remember how much sugar is in them. I think the protein is around 7g.

    new,excited, nervous

Hello and welcome to LBT! It is very normal to be nervous. I was nervous and excited at the same time. It has been a dream come true. My eating lifestyle is very different now and I feel really good. Congrats on the surgery date coming up. I wish you the best and keep us posted!

Signs when you are full ..I hiccup

It depends. If I am eating slowly like I'm supposed to, I will take a deep breath then feel the urge to hiccup. If I'm eating faster than I should, I get a tightness in my chest and it hurts to take a deep breath. I think it also depends on the food I'm eating. It's usually not the same every time. Sometimes it's tightness in the chest, sometimes it's hiccups.
  8. I saw the videos a few months ago. I don't know the guy personally, but I didn't get a good vibe from him. Seems like he is just trying to persuade people to follow HIS WLS procedure. Didn't he do gastric bypass and mini gastric bypass or was it just the mini GB?

A different kind of frozen yogurt...

I ate one for lunch today. This time I put it in the freezer for 45 minutes, stirred it, then put in for 20 more minutes and it was better. Just colder, thicker and creamier than normal. It was really good.

    Chocolate Slim Fast HP drinks...

I haven't tried the High Protein Slim Fasts, but I use the Low Carb Slim Fasts and I really like them. Actually, the low carb ones have 5 more grams of protein than the high protein. I think the HP has 15g protein per can and the LC has 20g. Try blending the chocolate with decaf coffee and ice, it's really good.

    NEW favorite body part

Right now I would have to say my legs. 79 lbs ago I never showed my legs. I always wore pants or long skirts. I am really enjoying wearing capris and shorter skirts now.

    Low Carb Potato Substitute

Wheets, do you have a recipe for the "fried apples"? Can you either post it or PM to me? Thanks.

    Low Carb Potato Substitute

I've never thought about turnips as a substitute, but I might have to try it. I have had Jicama before and I really like it. I just ate it cold and raw. The "fried apples" idea is a great one, I will definitely try it. Does anyone know if Jicama is a seasonal vegetable? I wouldn't think so, but I don't know? The local grocery stores here used to carry it and I haven't been able to find it in months.

A different kind of frozen yogurt...

I had to let it sit out for a little while. While it didn't have the consistency of ice cream or regular frozen yogurt, it worked for me. I guess if I had to describe it, the consistency would be somewhere between ice cream and a Popsicle. I left it in the freezer for 3 hours, that was probably way too long. Next time I'll try just an hour and see how it does.

Which celebrity do YOU think needs the Lap Band?

I assume you are refering to me, you can correct me if I'm wrong. Not sure who called you a kid.......I sure didn't. I simply stated how I thought the thread came across and I never said anything about kids. Not sure where that came from? The only person I called out was the OP, mainly because I question their intentions about starting this thread. Some of the celebrities that were named were barely overweight, that's where my comments were directed. When someone says Britney Spears need a lap band, I can only assume they are just picking at her because she has gained a little weight. I admit, she's not my favorite celeb, but saying she NEEDS a lap band is just crazy. Sorry you took my comments so personally, but they weren't directed at YOU.

Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits

I got there at 8:30 and probably left out around 9:00 or so. I did here someone talking, so it could have been you.

Which celebrity do YOU think needs the Lap Band?

Laurend, don't worry, I don't think anyone is going to yell at you, lol. On the contrary, I think if the comments had been more like yours, there wouldn't have been a big "to-do" over it. Your post actually seems sincere to me. I think the reason people were on defense, is because this thread didn't start out being focused on the health aspect of needing a band. To me, it came across as people trying to make themselves feel better by calling out all celebs that have a little weight to lose and making fun of them (mainly the OP). I've met people before that do this. Perfect example, I had a friend that was obese. She was very self-conscious about herself. Any time we were in public, she would make comments about others that she saw. She would say things like, "OMG, those pants make her look twice as big" or "Her arms are huge", constantly. Somehow, picking people apart made her feel better about herself and it drove me crazy. That's exactly how this thread came across to me. I agree with you, there are some celebrities that would benefit greatly from the band. I just don't think we should have the mind-set that every overweight person needs a band, especially those that only need to lose a few pounds (like some that were mentioned previously). It's a great tool for many, but it's not a good choice for everyone.

All This Free Time! What to do?!

Why don't you try picking up a hobby? Have you ever thought about taking a night class somewhere, like a hobby-type class, such as photography, a cooking class (not implying you can't already cook), or an art class? I have dabbled with painting and some day I would love to take an art class. Cooking is the same, I love to cook and would love to learn more about it. Or, you could just spend all your free time on here like me :rolleyes2:

    Going through the steps

Hi Lorraine! Welcome to LBT! I know how you feel. In 2006, I wanted the surgery sooooo bad and our insurance would not cover it. Mid 2007 I decided to give them another call and to my surprise, they added it. I was so excited! Anyway, good luck to you and keep us posted!

    At last straw

Hello my fellow Georgian! Welcome to LBT! This is a great site to do your research. You will find lots of info here. Make sure you go in the complications forum and you will see some of the bad there. Everyone is different though, some have a harder time than others. In whatever you decide, I wish you the best! Where in Georgia are you from?
