Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits
georgia girl replied to georgia girl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Mia Sorry you are having a rough time right now. Well, you are working out, so that is good. Are you eating Protein first, then veggies, then fruit or bread? Are you drinking enough Water? Are you drinking with meals? Plateauing is pretty normal for me. Sometimes it lasts a week or two, it has lasted a month before. It can get pretty discouraging. I just got over a long one. If you are doing everything right, you might want to try and change up your routine a little, it shocks the body and often restarts weight loss. Maybe have a really high calorie meal (just one day, then start up strong again with the right foods) and switch up your exercising. One of the trainers at the YMCA told me that if you do the same exercises everyday, your body gets accustomed to it and doesn't react anymore. So he said if you stop losing, do something different for a while. Plateaus are always frustrating. You have done so well since your surgery. Just keep doing everything you can and it will pass sooner or later. About the fill, I think you are right for waiting on that, especially if you sometimes PB. Just make sure you are chewing really well and eating slowly. If you have a daily snack, make sure you are eating a high protein snack because it will stay with you longer. I found these South Beach Diet High Protein Cereal Bars and I really like them. They come in a variety pack with Peanut Butter, chocolate, and cinnamon raisin (my favorite- taste like a cinnamon roll). They stay with me for a while too. Congrats on the pound!!! Yay!! Maybe that means you are over your plateau!! -

Hi and congrats on your surgery date. I don't think there's anyway to get rid of those pesky nerves but just keep reminding yourself how much healthier you are going to be and try to focus on that. Good luck!

I hate it when people post just to post.....

You're right, I need some balls. From now on, NO ONE pees on me! Unless I get stung by a jellyfish! :cool2: -
When going to a restaurant, what do you order?
georgia girl replied to laniayala's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I know, I ate sushi a couple of months ago, it was no easy task. I ended up picking it apart to remove the seaweed. It wasn't pretty but it still tasted good. I have heard others on the site mention that some places will put soy paper on it instead of seaweed. I asked last time I went to Sho Guns and they looked at me like I was crazy. -
Which celebrity do YOU think needs the Lap Band?

I wish I could be as important as you. I'm just a little peon  -
Oh, Growing Pains is a classic! I had such a crush on him, I think his confidence on the show had a big part in that. I loved him in the movie "Big" too, with Tom Hanks. His sister played on a good one too, "Full House". I love those kinds of shows and I still watch the repeats on TV. Some others I liked were "Who's the Boss", "The Cosby Show", "Facts of Life", "The Wonder Years" (DH hated that show but I really liked it), "Head of the Class", "Different Strokes", and "Punky Brewster". Oh, and "Saved by the Bell" in the late 80's. They just don't make em like that anymore. And cartoons, don't get me started on those, lol. Do ya'll remember pound puppies? I used to have like a hundred of them.

I do weigh at night sometimes too! I used to never weigh pre-band, mainly because I just didn't want to know, lol. I do not know what I would do without my scale now though. Oh, and I spend all of my free time on this site. I am totally addicted! -

PB stands for Productive Burp. It's just a band term for food coming back up. Bagweaver, do you weigh at home? I admire people who don't, but it seems I am addicted to the scales since being banded. Most of the time, I weigh at least once a day. I know.....I can't help it! I tried going without the scales once and I last only a couple of days and then caved. I hate not knowing. -
I can't believe I left that one off! That's another one of my favs! Patrick Dempsey looks soooo much different now! Hottie... Wheets, Joey was my favorite too! It could have been because he was the youngest and the closest to my age. My sister and all her friends were in love with Jordan.

Nip It is nice. I was beginning to think I wasn't going to lose any more. It's funny those thought creep into our minds. I started thinking, "OMGosh, what if I am one of those people in the statistics that only lose like half of their excess weight?" It's a scary thought. Brina Your posts always amaze me. I don't know how in the world you make a story about PB'ing entertaining, but you do. To this day I haven't PB'ed yet and I hope I don't. I do have a question though. Since my last fill, when I wake up in the morning (still laying in the bed), I feel like acidy stuff is coming up my throat a little. It doesn't completely come up, just a little. Has anyone else experienced this? -
Those are 2 of my favorite movies! Also, Dirty Dancing, Ferris Buellers Day Off, Goonies, Top Gun, Adventures in Babysitting (one of my favs), Gremlins, Flash Dance, Mannequin, Teen Wolf, Big, E.T. I love 80's movies, that was a classic time.........ahhh, the good ole days. Oh, and The Princess Bride, I love that movie! I like all the Molly Ringwald movies too!

7 months out,Dr. says NO to Smoothies!!
georgia girl replied to REDGIRL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Honestly, I've never heard of Smoothie King and I don't know the nutritional content in their products. If it was me, I would just try to eat some soft foods that have protein. You can get a little protein from yogurt and good bit of protein from cottage cheese. I like to mix yogurt and cottage cheese together. If you must drink something, Starbucks has a skinny latte that has 10g of protein or you could just drink a Protein shake first thing in the morning and try to eat some of the soft protein foods at lunch. Not sure if any of this helps, but that's what I would do. -

Have you explained to him that you can't handle food during your TOM? Is it only around you TOM that you are too tight to eat? If it was me, and it was ONLY around my TOM that I was too tight, I would maybe puree solid protein and make a homemade soup with it. I have pureed really chunky type stews after I get a fill, just until my band loosens a little. It's soft enough to go down, and it's still thick enough to hold me for a while. If he didn't ask, I wouldn't tell him. Now if you are too tight to eat at other times too, maybe you do need a slight unfill. It's not good to make a habit of drinking your protein on a regular basis. What about soft fish or canned tuna or chicken? Have you tried those? -
Sounds goooooood! Thanks for sharing!!

Puddin totally slipped my mind. She was such an inspiration to me when I first joined! She was so successful with the band!!
