Anyone Have A Good Roasted Chickpea Recipe?
georgia girl replied to georgia girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I made these today, and they are delish! I altered the recipe a little. I used 1/4 tsp of the following: paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, and cumin. Very tasty!! -
Not sure if you like cottage cheese, but it's pretty high in protein. I sometimes mix cottage cheese with yogurt for breakfast. The kind I buy has 11 grams of protein per 1/2 cup.

B'fast~ coffee Lunch~ 2/3 of Oven Roasted Turkey Salad from Cracker Barrel (with fat free honey mustard dressing) Dinner~ Chili (Wendy's), 1/2 baked potato Snack~ 1/2 c. roasted chickpeas -
I was hoping I would hear from someone that could compare the two! Thanks for the info. The main reason I didn't like the bodybugg is because it had to be worn on the arm all the time. I got tired of people always asking me what it was, lol. I like how compact and small the fitbit is and the fact that it be worn in the pocket or bra.

Wow....that's not very long. I'm glad you told me that! Thanks -
Haha! I've never heard that about the dogs, lol. I don't eat asparagus, but I imagine it would be harder to get down. I love avocado! It's pretty soft, so I can't imagine it getting stuck easily. Maybe you were told not to eat it because it's fattening? They are higher in fat, but it's a good fat.

That actually sounds really good! I LOVE mushrooms!

I am just curious as to why you can't eat onions and avacados? Did your doctor tell you this?

I am thinking of getting a fitbit too. I used to have a bodybugg and I hated how bulky is was and hated it being strapped to my arm all the time.

I don't mean any disrespect either, but why do you care if people are posting recipes? Just because we have a band now, we are not supposed to think about food? Food is still a major factor in everyday life. This post is one of the many posts that offer a lower calorie and fat alternative to some typically high calorie fatty foods. I have a family to cook for, and it's nice to have these recipes and ideas. I am glad you don't think of food much anymore, but I don't think the majority of us are that lucky. If it bothers you that much, why do you even look at the recipes?

I would definitely make an appointment and have some fluid removed. That itself could make a world of difference. If it were me, I would start by having some fluid removed and see if it gets better. Then, if you are still continuing to lose, you may need to seek counseling. Best of luck to you!!

I love laughing cow cheese! I am definitely going to try the Alfredo sauce recipe. I also like to use laughing cow cheese in my chicken salad and tuna salad instead of mayo. Thanks for posting!

Hello everyone! I made some low carb stuffed mushrooms that were really good and thought I'd share. Ingredients: 1 package stuffer button mushrooms ( the one I used had various sizes and had about 12-13 mushrooms in it) 1 package ground sausage 1/4 cup Philidelphia Cooking Creme 1/4 - 1/2 cup of mayo (start with 1/4 and go up from there, until you get desired consistency) 1/2 of a green bell pepper, seeded and diced 1/2 c pepper jack cheese 1/2 c sharp cheddar cheese Directions: Preheat oven to 375. Brown sausage and diced peppers together until peppers are soft. Drain and pour sausage and peppers into a big mixing bowl. Add cooking creme, mayo (1/4 c), and cheeses. Mix together well and add more mayo if the mixutre is too dry. Remove stems from mushrooms. With a spoon, pack and mound the sausage mixture into mushrooms. Place mushrooms on sprayed baking sheet and bake until mushrooms are soft and mixutre is golden brown. The entire recipe has 22 carbs. I divided the mushrooms and the sausage mixture into 3 servings and cooked them a batch at a time. So, if you divide it into 3 servings, it would be about 7 carbs for about 4 good-sized stuffed mushrooms. Just refrigerate the other servings until you are ready to eat them. Hope you enjoy!

Hey Leslie!!! I posted on the other thread, but I thought I'd post it here too. Copied and pasted...Well hey there, Leslie! It's been a while. Sorry you are not doing so well with your band. When are you having your band removed? I have heard lots of good things about the sleeve. Might be worth checking into. I miss talking to you! I was thinking about the 5k we ran a while back and how you got lost on the course, lol. Good times I haven't been doing too hot either. I'm still 40 lbs lighter than I was when I had my surgery, but still...I have gained A LOT of weight back. My weight gain started when I noticed I was losing restriction really fast after my fills. They started measuring the fluid and I was losing fluid everytime I went in. I thought they were going to fix my band, but they kept putting it off saying I wasn't losing "enough" fluid to validate surgery. I was having to go in every 2 weeks to get a fill and I just got fed up with it and stopped going all together. I was also diagnosed with cluster headaches a while back and had to go on a high dose of steroids for 2 months. I gained 30 lbs in two months from the steroid and I couldn't seem to get back on track after that. I've been meaning to post too. I've been walking with a friend of mine for a couple of weeks and that's been helping. It's nice having a workout buddy....it makes all the difference! I really miss the support we all used to give each other. Anyway, it was good hearing from you! Please check back in and keep us updated! Are you on facebook? If you are, look me up and add me. I keep up with most of my lapband buddies on there now instead of LBT. georgia girl -

I have missed you, Brina! You look amazing, btw! I can't get over how different you look since the last time I visited. What an inspiration! It feels good to be back on track. I was on a high dose steroid for about 2 months a while back and gained 30 lbs. I never recovered. Gained about 20 more since then too. I have been low carbing for the last 2 weeks and lost 14 lbs. The sugar cravings are gone and I feel great! I will try to post pretty regular....maybe we can be each other's motivation!
