Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY
georgia girl replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It's been almost 10 months since my surgery. Here's my most recent picture. -
Okay, I know I'm a little late coming into this but I'm going to start on Monday. I bought a pair of running shoes yesterday and I'm excited to get going. I'm still pretty heavy, so I worry about not being able to do it but I'm going to give it my all. Everyone has been doing so good. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Susan and LilMiss! I am hoping it was just a miscalculation somewhere. But, it's second time I've lost fluid so I dunno? Anyway, thanks for the good thoughts....keep 'em coming, lol. -

Aww, thanks! I've been hesitant to post any new pics because I haven't lost any weight lately but I think I've lost some inches. Ya'll keep your fingers crossed that I don't have a leak. I haven't been able to hold restriction and I lost quite a bit of fluid (.75cc in a 2 month period) so I'm getting checked again at the end of the month. -

LMJ~ I didn't think it was that harsh either. If it hadn't been for your post, it probably would have continued being a pampering party, thus condoning what was going on. IMO, that is not helpful to anyone. Susan~ Good post. You made some great points and hopefully people will think before they tell someone it's okay to cheat because they did it. I can honestly say that I don't always make the best food choices now, but I followed my post-op diet to a T. I'm amazed at how people show no concern for the damage they could do to their bands.....beyond amazed! -

Swimsuit pictures!!! For all you daring bandters

I can only speak for myself, but I thought the opening post was rather vague and had a certain "quality" that made me uncertain about it (kinda like an advertising quality with the wording and all the animated pictures). The Internet can be a scary place, especially when it comes to pictures that show skin. Just being cautious...I don't think I was wrong for that. BTW, I think it's okay to be concerned with skin issues. For me, it was a mixture of health and physical reasons as to why I got the band, but more health related. I do agree with Libra, losing weight alone probably won't solve all of your body image issues, so just be prepared for that. Best of luck to you. -

I agree Susan. People openly admit they are not following rules and ask for help, then get offended when people don't pamper and baby them. It get's really old... -
Get rid of your Dieter's Mentality
georgia girl replied to MacMadame's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great article! I get caught up in dieter's mentality a lot. It's something I definitely need to work on. Thanks for sharing this. -
Thank you. Yes, I've had several plateaus, some that lasted quite a while. I'm having trouble keeping restriction, so I've been on this plateau for a long time. Most of the time I lose in spurts. Congrats on your weight loss too! That's great and you're almost at goal!

OMGosh! See, I don't even visit those forums anymore because of stuff like that. It's ridiculous! Who goes out the country to get lap band and doesn't research or get dismissal information? Seriously, who does that? C'mon people! -

Ha! I know, I don't think I've ever seen so many smilies on one page... -
Keri~ I have struggled with restriction so I know what it's like to be able to eat anything. Definitely talk to your doctor and nutritionist about this. For now, I wouldn't focus on the amount of food you are eating but instead the types of food you are eating. Like Kat said, focus on eating healthy food right now. If popcorn is something you are craving, buy some of the 100 calorie pack bags (kettle corn is good) and it's not so bad to eat a whole bag. But if you are truly hungry, try eating something more substantial that will stay with you longer. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

georgia girl replied to GDC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm not trying to be rude but I'm a little confused as to why your only posts have been requesting to see scars and now people in swimsuits  It just seems a little strange that these are your first posts. Are you concerned with the scarring THAT much? -

Apparently you could up your protein shake intake to 1/2 c a day (with nothing else of course) and still be okay. You might as well drink a couple of more sips if it will still work.... -

I hate it when "experienced bandsters" give crappy advice. Maybe I'm just crazy, but I don't think 1/2 cup of food A DAY is enough. 1/2 cup per meal would be more understandable, but per day....GRRR! -
