Thanks Whosya! I was worried that maybe I did something bad to it. As soon as my ankle heals, I will be running again. Today was supposed to be my running day and boy did I miss it. I'm so ready to start week 3.

    Stress Fractures? Over-exercising?

Bsides, it sounds like we kinda have the same problem, except my problem is my left knee. I started the couch to 5k about a month ago and I noticed last week that my knee was slightly hurting after my runs. I always take a rest day in between my runs. My knee is usually fine on those days but it does start feeling stiff and sore at night. I've been icing it and elevating it when I can. I also twisted my left ankle again yesterday (second time in the last month!) so I figured I better take a few days off and try to get them better. If the problem persists, I guess I will go to the doctor. Hope your foot gets better soon!

    Smothered Crockpot Meatloaf!!

It kinda mixes in with the gravy. A little of the gravy goes a long way, so no need to go overboard with it. I used a slotted spoon to dip it and that probably helped some too.

Serenity~ Welcome! Sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the good work! Leslie~ Hope you and your kiddo are feeling better. Renewed~ Can't wait until you get your PS!! How exciting!! You are mighty driven aren't you? LOL. Good job on the run!! Sugarbean~ Glad your leg is feeling better. Hope you are able to run soon. Good luck! Lyn~ Congrats on your clearance to run! That's awesome! I couldn't even imagine myself running 3 weeks after my surgery. Glad you are doing well and good luck with the running! Well, I am going to have to forfeit my runs, at least a few days. My ankle is bothering me much more today than it was yesterday. My knee does really well during the day and starts getting stiff and sore at night. I'll continue doing the RICE for a few days and see if it helps. I'm gonna miss doing my run today, but I think I need the days off to recooperate. I guess if they are not better in a few days, I need to go to the doctor.

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Hello all! Ya'll are not going to believe what I just did. DS and I were headed out to the car to go to the store. I stepped in a hole and twisted the same ankle I hurt a couple of weeks ago! I am such a klutz!!! Luckily, I don't think I hurt it too bad. It's not really swollen or bruised, but I think I am going to wear my ankle support for a couple of days and ice it. It doesn't hurt unless I rotate it, so I think it's okay. Renewed~ I have done the same thing a time or two and I have learned my lesson! I always eat a little something about 30 minutes before I run and it really helps. Good job though!! I can't even imagine running that long!! Kathy~ Thanks for the advice. My knee hasn't bothered me at all today and I've been in town doing quite a bit of walking already. It seems to only bother me when I run. I will continue to rest and ice it though, I think it really helped last night. To my surprise, my weight this morning actually matched my ticker! YAY!

Sugarbean~ Thanks for the tips and thanks for being the voice of reason. I will rest for a few days and see what happens. I did elevate my knee last night and iced it a few times and this morning it feels fine. Thanks again. Mamato3~ Good luck today! Positive self talk is wonderful! It has helped me get through quite a few of my runs. Sending you more positive thoughts.....

By rest, does that mean I have to hold off on my runs for a while or just rest a lot in between?? Can you tell I don't want to hold off on my runs?? I got to thinking, and I very well could have stepped on it wrong or something when I fell and twisted my ankle. I didn't really notice it hurting right then, but that's the only thing I can think of that might have injured me..... BTW, I too am a scale addict and I want in on the challenge too! I don't know how in the world I am going to do it, but I will give it a try!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Okay, I just did what I hoped to be my last day of week 2. I woke up this morning and my knee felt fine, it actually felt normal. So, I go to the gym and start my running. About halfway through my run my knee started hurting. I probably should have stopped, but I ran through it and finished my run. Now, my knee is hurting again. I don't know what to do. It usually bothers me after my runs and some on my off days, but when it's time to run again it feels better. So, I run and then the whole process starts over. I did wear my knee support band today and it seemed to hurt worse. I dunno?? I've never had any knee problems so I don't know what a pulled muscle or ligament would feel like. What do you guys think???? Should I start icing it or applying heat???

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

I noticed Wednesday, after my run, that it felt a little funny. I didn't really think much about it, but the next day it was still bothering me. I ran again on Friday and it's still kinda acting up. It almost feels like it has a catch in it when I turn it a certain way. It kinda feels stiff if it stays in one place for very long too. I bought a knee support band, so hopefully that will help. Have any of you had any knee problems since starting? I'm definitely worried about it. I love my runs and I would be so upset if a knee injury kept me from running. I finally found something I really enjoy. Whosya~ you've been running a while. Have you had any knee problems since starting??? Mamato3~ ((Hugs)). Please don't feel like a failure. My very first run (day 1 week 1) I only lasted 12 minutes! Please don't be too hard on yourself. You have done such a wonderful job and you have definitely inspired me. It very well could have had something to do with not drinking enough or not having enough food to fuel you. I've never experienced that so I don't really know what to tell you. My advice to you would be to take it slow. Build up to the 20 minutes gradually, if that's what you need to do. I'm sure I will have to. Heck, I had to build up just to be able to do day 1, lol. Seriously, you are an inspiration to us all! Especially to us newbie runners!

Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits

Hey bamboobabe! I guess it would depend on where the leak is. If it was in the band itself, which I highly doubt, the band would have to be replaceed. If it's in the tubing, I'm not really sure. If it's where the tubing connects, it might could just be fixed. I don't think I'm losing enough Fluid for it to be in the band itself though. So....I guess we will just wait and see.

    Creamy Spinach Chicken Salad

I made a new recipe using the spinach dip. 1 whole wheat/low carb tortilla (med size) 2 tbsp Tostitos spinach dip Roasted Sweet Red Peppers, sliced (in the jar) Shredded cheese of your choice, I used fiesta blend (about 1/3 cup) Just spread spinach dip over tortilla, top with sweet peppers (use as many as you want, only 5 calories for a whole ounce) and shredded cheese and bake at 400 until golden brown and cheese melts. If you wanted, you could also use shredded chicken or another meat. I just had a fill, so half of the recipe was more than enough for me. But even if you ate the whole thing, it's only about 200 calories and 7 net carbs total.

    do things change?

Hi Nina! It varies from person to person. I've been banded since Sept of last year and I have been able to eat bread and pasta. I am just now finally getting some really good restriction and I haven't eaten much bread or pasta lately, mainly because I haven't been all that hungry and I just don't need a lot of it. If I do eat bread or pasta, I try to make sure it is whole wheat or whole grain. It's much more nutritious and still tastes good. Toasted bread will go down much easier than doughy bread will. Try using substitutes for your favorites foods. Like making homemade pizza out of a whole wheat tortilla. Much healthier choice and it will get crispy so it will be easier to handle. You could also use whole wheat english muffins. The possibilities are endless. Get creative and just try out new things. That way you still get the taste of bread, but in a much healthier form. It's really trial and error. You'll quickly learn which food you can tolerate and which ones you can't. Good luck!
