    scalingdown....don't worry about your speed right now. Just focus on endurance. Your distance will increase each week as your running time increases. You can work on speed later. Keep up the good work!

    Carol...it's a Nike+ challenge. You have to have an ipod nano and the nike+ sports kit to participate. The nike+ sports kit is only $30, but it's only compatible with the ipod nano. The challenge is about distance....who has the most at the end of the challenge. Walking/running counts. I highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about running. It really keeps me motivated!

    Renewed...I'm glad Dylan's foot is going to be okay. Do you know when you are going to have your revison done yet? Well, today I weighed and I lost......(drumroll)....3 lbs! I am very happy with that because TOM came last night, so I was a little worried about it. I hope this is the beginning of some major weight loss!

    January 2009 Exercise Challenge

    Saturday and Sunday- nothing Today- 5 miles on treadmill (ran the first 3.5 miles and did intervals for the rest) 30 minutes strength training (arms) DH is going to the gym tonight, so I will probably end up going with him and doing some sort of cardio again (probably either walking or stairmaster)

    Oh, and I am excited to weigh in tomorrow! I really feel like I've lost some weight this week. 5 lbs would be wonderful, but I'm shooting for at least 2....surely I lost at least 2 lbs...

    Welcome Carol!! I'm glad you decided to finally post! I think we have all come to LOVE running and we have wonderful support here. We all kinda feed off of one another for inspiration and motivation. You are doing FANTASTIC!! Good luck with your 5K next Sat. Be sure and let us know how it goes!

    I went to the gym this morning and ran. I ran 3 miles straight....YIPEE!! I don't think I've done that since Thanksgiving!

    Lyn...I've always heard that red wine was the best for you. I don't have anything to back it up. That's just what I've always heard. Sounds like you are having a blast!

    Kathy....Darn it! I was hoping you took the day off, lol. Just kidding :thumbup: I didn't run today. I decided to take ya'lls advice and do strength training. My legs felt like butter when I left the gym, lol. I'm predicting I'll be very sore. I plan to run tomorrow if I can lift my legs. :biggrin: Kathy, you always have the best NSV's!

    Renewed...I'm so sorry Dylan got burned. Poor fellow...hope he feels better soon. Whosya...I must admit, I'm one of those women who worry about lifting weights. I've always been on the muscular side (even when I wasn't overweight). My tennis coach in college asked me if I lifted weights and I told him no, I didn't. He pretty much said it was impossible for a girl to have as much muscle as me and not lift weights. I worked out a lot, but I didn't lift weights. I do have a hormone imbalance, so I always figured that was why I was muscular. I don't know, I always felt self-conscious about it. Anyway, that's why I don't do a lot of weight lifting. I do some every now and then, but not regularly.

    DH and I were wondering the same thing. At first I thought I missed it, but I hit rewind and still didn't see him or his partner do the temptation. In fact, it really didn't show Dan very much at all this episode.

    I CAN RUN AGAIN!!!! YIPPEE!! I ran yesterday and today and my ankle is still doing fine. I am still wearing my wrap and it's working great! I'm so happy to be running again!!!
