Offically introducing myself!
georgia girl replied to anitak33's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery and good luck! -
:welcome: Heather! I have a son who is almost 2 and like you, I look forward to the days when I can do activities with him that I am unable to do now. Good Luck with your lap-band journey and I hope things go well for you.

I just posted on your other thread, but here's what I said: I think you should follow your surgeons instructions. Did he/she give you a list of foods and tell you how long to be on them? You definitely don't want to risk having complications. Good luck!

Thanksgiving Holiday - Celebrating or Ignoring?
georgia girl replied to Chelle B's topic in The Lounge
This will be my first Thanksgiving with the band. We have so many places to go: My mother's side of the family, my father's side of the family, my husbands family... I usually graze all day because we're on the move all day. Hopefully this year I will have some self-control. -
I've just discovered Chai Tea!!!!
georgia girl replied to mandi78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been watching this thread and I just thought I wouldn't like hot tea. I'm from the Georgia and we drink iced tea. Well I finally broke down and bought some at the grocery store and I was pleasantly surprised. I love it!!! I mix it with a little skim milk and a little splenda. It's official, I'm hooked. -

Right now I'm wearing a 44DD. I was hoping they would shrink as I lose weight. Sue: Maybe when I get my TT, I can get rid of my DD's. -

My Mind is Playing Tricks on Me!!
georgia girl replied to nessa3678's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's okay to drink coffee as long as it is decaf. I sometimes would even dream about food but once I started mushies it got a lot better. Good luck! -
Hi Traveler! Congratulations on your surgery! I did have some hunger pains but nothing unbearable. Are you getting in enough liquids? Or maybe you're just a really fast healer and your stomach is already feeling close to normal again. Anyway, hope it gets better for you and good luck!

newly banded on November 5th
georgia girl replied to deirdreboo8's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Deirdreboo8! I'm glad you're doing well but now is not the time to be worried about the scales. Give yourself time to heal and trust me, the weight will start to come off. Good luck! -

One of my cousins used to get out the mayo jar and a spoon and just go to town. I like mayo....but not that much. -

I used to love mixing together mayo and ketchup to dip my fries in. My DH thinks it's nasty but i love it. -

New waiting for a surgury date
georgia girl replied to opus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations!!! Hope you get a surgery date soon. -
I'm not a huge fan of low-carb, personally, because I like carbs too much, but it does work. I think it would work good for you since you only have 10 lbs to lose. Once I lost 50 lbs doing low-carb, so it works, but for me it is not something I would want to follow the rest of my life. Good luck and hope everything goes well for you!

Hi blooh and welcome!:welcome: It's really nice that you and your sister can go through this together. As far as food mourning goes, you need tobe prepared that there may be some food that you cannot tolerate. But for many people, they can eat all types of food, just less of it. Right now I can eat pretty much anything. I've had one fill and no restriction yet, so when I get to my sweet spot there may be some foods I have to live without and I am prepared to let them go. I did this to get my life back... no regrets. Hang in there. I think you and your sister will do great and you have each other for support. Good luck!

Hi Amerdoodles! Congratulations on your surgery in December! Does you doctor have you on a specific pre-op diet or did he/she tell you to do it however you want?
-
Could it be because "someone" is gone? If it is, I'm doing the happy dance with you!
-
I was banded 9-20-07 and had my first fill Nov. 1st. I do not feel any restriction at all. I called the doctor's office and told them. I go back on the 15th for another fill, so hopefull i will get some restriction soon.
-
Hi Judithbill, welcome! 35 lbs is awesome! You've heard the expression "Slow and steady wins the race", well I think that is appropriate in this situation. It is better to lose slowly rather than fast. No one can eat perfect all the time. What is it that you're having a hard time giving up? Do you have good restriction right now? Have you tried the bottled Water flavor packages? Don't be too hard on yourself and just try to refocus on why you had this surgery.

Welcome Hotdogpriss! Glad to hear your doing well. As far as the gas goes...walk, walk, and walk some more. Gas-X didn't work for me either. Walk as much as you can and it should help tremendously. Good luck on your lap-band journey!
