Thanks for the ideas. I have tried the frozen meatballs and they go down pretty good and are easy to chew, they are just so high in calories and fat. I don't really count every calorie I eat, I just try to chose things with lower calories and fat. I've really never been a big "meat" fan anyway. I can tolerate it, it's just not my favorite thing to eat. Thanks again.

I feel like such a fool! Warning this post contains a "break-up" email*
georgia girl replied to cookielover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
All I can say is....... it's HER loss. Hang in there. I hope you can find a friend who appreciates you and supports you. I've been through a similar situation (related to pregnacy, not weight loss). It's tough but maybe it's for the best. You really don't need negativity right now.....we've all had enough of that to last a lifetime. -
Welcome to LBT and good luck on your weight loss journey!

Banded in 2 weeks, got questions
georgia girl replied to swstacey1977's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did clear liquid the first week and then moved to full liquid for 2 weeks, then mushies for 3 weeks. I use Pro Performance whey Protein powder (chocolate caramel) and mix it with skim milk. It's really good to me. I lost around 10-12 lbs the first week after surgery and then a few pounds here and there until my fill. It varies with each person, so don't get discouraged if you do not lose or even gain to start with. Good luck -

Also you could visit http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f12/ (cosmetic and reconstructive surgery) and ask someone there about your insurance coverage. -
Plastic surgery after lapband......?
georgia girl replied to swstacey1977's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm not sure about your insurance coverage guidelines but maybe this thread will help http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f12/plastic-surgery-terms-weight-loss-patients-5195/ -
Celebrate the half way point. *****
georgia girl replied to want2beme's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I think any weight loss is appropriate to celebrate. Every pound contributes to the ultimate goal. (Can you tell....I'll use any excuse to reward myself) lol. I can't wait until I reach the halfway mark. Congrats on your halfway point. You should do something really nice for yourself. Maybe you should splurge and spend a whole day at the spa pampering yourself. You deserve it. Keep up the good work. -
Yep, I have trouble with meat. I haven't had any pain or anything, I just get a little impatient with the chewing. I've been trying to find other foods with protein to substitute for meat. I do love Bocca Burgers, they are quite a bit softer than a regular hamburger patty.

I just had it, and I am starving
georgia girl replied to marieee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To be completely honest, it will probably be a little while before you feel full (it could be a totally different "full" than you are used to - for me it is more of a tightness in the chest area). I didn't start feeling any restriction untill my 2nd fill and who knows how long it will last. Some people only need one fill to feel restriction and for others it may take 5 or 6. It varies, but just hang in there. -
I was very fortunate to have my husband for 1&1/2 weeks. We planned the surgery around his vacation. I agree with everyone else, you will probably need someone to help you. You will definitely need to take it easy for a while. My son was 19 months old at the time of my surgery and my doctor did not want me picking him up for about 2 weeks (I actually did a little before then).Good luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

georgia girl replied to marieee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different so if I were you, I would not worry unless you are having other problems. It is possible that you did not have a lot of swelling. -
I had to work up to the 64 oz of fluids. It was a few days, maybe even a week, before I could drink anywhere close to that amount. The amount you're having is probably okay, but I would still try to sip as much water as possible.

georgia girl replied to marieee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wasn't hungry for at least a week, maybe longer. It could be that you are a fast healer, because as your swelling goes down, your stomach starts to feel normal again. I was on clear liquids for a week and didn't get hungry at all. Hope you have a speedy recovery. -

newly banded and feeling the depression/frustrations
georgia girl replied to mynewlife_22's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome! I was banded 9-20-07 and like you, I was also having trouble with real hunger and head hunger. I am still working on this but it is a lot better now. I just had my 2nd fill and I am starting to feel restriction...finally lol. Have you had any fills yet? Things will get better once you start feeling restriction. Sometimes it can take a few fills before you feel a difference. Good luck and it was nice to meet you! -
lap band vs. bypass
georgia girl replied to teebutterfly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Why I chose the band: Lower mortality rate, only 1 in 2000 versus 1 in 200 for Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery Fully reversible, stomach returns to normal if the band is removed No cutting or stapling of the stomach Short hospital stay Quick recovery Adjustable without additional surgery No malabsorption issues (because no intestines are bypassed) Fewer life threatening complications -

I am so glad you are doing well. I can remember being more sore on the left side than anywhere else. It will take a few days but you'll be as good as new in no time. Keep us posted on your progress. Take it easy. -

Please let us know how it goes as soon as you feel up to it. -
Yes, they do suck. LOL. If the laser hair removal works good for you, I will probably start saving up and have it done. I would love to get pretty much my whole body done. LOL.

Same with my husband, he can go without shaving longer than me. I shave it in the morning and sometimes (if we have evening plans) I have to shave it again. It is sooo irritating. Even though it's more expensive, I have found that the intuition razor (sensitive skin refills) work the best for me. It leaves my skin less irritated. I did "Nair" for a while but with my sensitive skin, the chemicals started burning my skin.

Laurend, I can really relate to you. I have PCOS too and I have to shave my neck and chin area everyday (basically all the same places men have to shave) and it is sooo embarassing. I also have very dark hair and pale skin. I am sooo tired of the hair. And I'm not talking about just a little stubble either, if I couldn't shave, I would not be able to leave home. Please let me know how it works, because I want to have this done so bad. Good luck on Monday and I hope it's not painful.
