Thanks, it's been really hard but I am so pleased with my results so far. Now that I have some restriction I hope will get a little easier.

Welcome Summer! I was fortunate to have my husband for a whole week so he could take care of our son, who was 18 months at the time. He was a big help. Take it easy for a while and don't over do it. I know that's easier said than done when you have a little one. Just be careful and let your little guy climb up on you. Good luck and hope you have a speedy recovery. -

Slimshady, tomorrow is the BIG day, right? I wish you luck and a quick recovery. How's the liquid diet going? -
I love eggnog, so I'm sure I will love the vanilla chai. I usually only drink eggnog around christmas time, so it will be a wonderful replacement for eggnog that is healthier and has more Protein. Traditional eggnog has about 343 calories and 19g of fat per 8 oz. That's a lot of fat. Thanks.

Celebrate the half way point. *****

Hey...whatever makes you happy. For me, cleaning house would be more of a punishment than a reward. Grrrr.....I hate to clean. -
I just tried the mocha Cappuccino one and it is really good. I found these at Wal*Mart. I bought the 32 ounce bottle for $3.38 and I can get 4 shakes out of it. I think I will try the vanilla chai next. I usually use the Pro Performace whey protein powder (chocolate caramel) but I ran out and I have to go out of town to purchase it, so I saw these while grocery shopping and decided to give it a go. I think the Bolthouse farms shakes cost less than the powder so I may continue to use them. It costs about $0.84 per shake if you buy the big bottle.

Chronic diaphram pain - 7 weeks post op - HELP!!
georgia girl replied to Rastis100's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you waiting at least 2 hours to lie down after eating? Other than that, I'm not sure what it could be. You should definitely call your doctor and ask their opinion. Hope it gets better. -
I had my 1st fill at 6 weeks post-op. My doctor evaluates me every 2 weeks. If I have not lost 2lbs per week, I will get another fill. 1st fill - 2cc's 2nd fill - 2cc's

Why's my band tighter at different times?
georgia girl replied to chubster808's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am especially tight in the mornings too. It's probably because we go so long without eating anything, while we sleep, and it just gets tight because there is no movement going through the band. Usually by late afternoon, I can eat without feeling too much restriction. I wouldn't think water would have anything to do with it, but what do I know, I'm just taking a quess. -
I hear ya, until I had my 2nd fill, I wondered if the band was even in me at all..lol. For me, I start to feel a tightness in my chest. That's when I know it's time to stop. I am really tight in the mornings, I can only drink my Protein shake and even that takes a while. But by evening I can eat just about anything.

I haven't had a problem getting my water in. I used to hate water and only drank it with the SF flavor packets. I guess my tastes have changed since surgery because now I hate the flavor packets and I love plain water. Carbonated drinks are on my list of things to avoid, although I'm not sure what the reason is behind it. Have you tried Stevia (it's a natural sweetener). If you like it, maybe you could add some fresh lemon juice and Stevia to your water and make your own lemonade.

I didn't feel any different after my 1st fill. I just got my 2nd fill last thursday and I do feel some restriction. Restriction can feel many different ways. For me, I get a tightness in my chest. Once I feel this, I stop because I do not want to PB. I've been lucky so far (knock on wood). I just hope this restriction lasts a while lol.

I had my 2nd fill last thursday and I can feel a BIG difference. I didn't feel any different after my 1st but now I can. I can really feel it in the mornings. I even have a hard time drinking my Protein shake, but by the evening I can eat pretty much whatever and not feel much restriction. I just hope it lasts for a while. Good luck with your fill, hope it does the trick!

lap band vs. bypass
georgia girl replied to teebutterfly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have been really happy with my results. I've lost over 40 lbs and I haven't had any complications. I just had my 2nd fill last week, and I finally have some restriction. The main reason I chose lap band (i forgot to list it previously.....duh) is that the lap band is something that can stay with me for life. Even after I reach goal, it can still be used to maintain. I know a girl that had the bypass about 8 years ago, she did pretty good with it, but over the years she has put it all back on, plus some. I guess she stretched her stomach back to normal. I am so pleased with my results so far. Good luck. -
What type of scale do you all recommend?
georgia girl replied to aubrie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep, that's it. I love my scales. I really like that it can program up to 4 different people on it and I love seeing and recording my progress every week. The BMI is pretty close to what the doctors scales say, I'm not that sure about the hydration part of it, I don't even pay attention to that part. There is only about a pound difference in my scales and the doctors scales. -
Hi Lyn, Welcome to LBT. I'm 27, and like you, I have yo-yo dieted for years. I lose, gain, lose, gain, etc. This is the best decision I've ever made. I hope everything works out for you. Good luck.
