Why am I craving chocolate every day?!?!
georgia girl replied to mandi78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
See, I am the complete opposite. Before I had surgery, I craved sweets all the time, especially chocolate. Since surgery, I haven't craved any sweets at all. It's strange........hmmmm......I guess I should consider it a blessing. -
Why am I craving chocolate every day?!?!
georgia girl replied to mandi78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
chocolate is not always a bad thing. Milk chocolate will never be good for us, but dark chocolate can be good for you, if used in moderation with your daily diet (60% cacoa or higher is the best, IMO). Here is an article that may help Health Benefits of Chocolate - Tifa Chocolate I don't know why you're craving it so much, but if you like dark chocolate, try eating a small piece daily, and see if it helps. I, personally really like dark chocolate, and occasionally have a small piece. -
Hi Julie! I had never heard of acanthosis before so I looked it up on the medical dictionary website. Hopefully, as you loose weight, it will get better for you. As far as the weight loss goes, people lose at different rates, so try not to get discouraged. What type of foods are you eating now? Did your nutritionist give you a specific food guideline to follow?

Spent the night in the hospital...(not band related)
georgia girl replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That was quite an experience. I'm glad you are okay. Did they refer you to a heart specialist? It sounds strange, and I would go to a specialist, just to be on the safe side. Hope you feel better soon. -
I know what you mean, I have a son, who is almost 2, and before I was banded, there was no way I could play in the floor with him. It's getting easier everyday. Good luck and I hope your insurance goes through quickly.

Not Banded Yet..waiting for insurance OK
georgia girl replied to addJ0y's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
:welcomeB: Hi Joyaddison! Welcome to LBT! Being hungry after surgery is very common. After your swelling goes down, you may start to feel hungry again, at least until you get some fills. It varies from person to person. I did start getting hungry a couple of weeks after surgery. I have had 2 fills, and I only had decent restriction for about a week after my 2nd fill. Don't get me wrong, it's still a lot better than before, I just have to have some willpower until I get good restriction. Believe me, it has been well worth it. Good luck and I wish you the best! -

georgia girl replied to bandpal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc says anywhere from 30 min -1 hour (that goes for both before and after a meal). I usually try to wait an hour if possible. -
Port incision size
georgia girl replied to TxArcher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Mine are really small too. All of mine are just about 1/2 inch long. They are very thin too, except for one (a stitch must have popped loose, so it has almost a circular shape on one end.) -

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I've had a really great experience with my band, and I can already see that it is helping with the PCOS. I am now having regular periods every month!!!! It's really great that you were able to have 2 daughters. It took me and DH about 6 years to have our beautiful baby boy. I wish you the best of luck and take care. -

Newly banded in Richmond VA
georgia girl replied to jmaynard207's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome and Congrats on getting banded! Glad to hear you are doing well. The hunger part gets better after you get a couple of fills. Where did your surgeon place your port? I didn't have much pain in my port area. Hope it gets better soon. 17 lbs is amazing, keep up the good work. -
I love everything about Christmas, except for the shopping. I really hate getting out into the crowd, so this year, I bought everything online and I hardly had to lift a finger. I'm probably one of those people who irritate most of you, because I love the Christmas music :lalala:. I start listening to all my Christmas music the day after Thanksgiving.

Hi Lish! It's nice to meet you. It seems like you have everything in order for your upcoming surgery. It's good that you are prepared. I know you are probably getting a little nervous, but honestly, recovery really wasn't that bad. You'll be sore for a while, but just take it easy and be sure to follow your surgeons instructions. Walking really helps if you have a lot of gas pain after surgery. Good luck and I hope you have a speedy recovery!

New, EXCITED, cant wait...date for band 12-18 (my sons birthday)
georgia girl replied to judyblue0125's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome Judyblue! It's nice to meet you. I have a son about the same age as your grandaughter, so I know exactly what you mean when you say you want to have this surgery so you can keep up with her. I realized it wasn't fair to my son, that I couldn't do things with him that required a lot of physical activity. I'm sure that you will do great with your band and I wish you the best of luck on your way to a new, healthier life. -
I was wondering if it would be possible to move a few of the threads from this forum to the FAQ and References forum (or just add another one to the other forum, leaving them here also). Many newbies do not scroll down this far, so the threads like: Avatars and Custom Title Issues, Ticker TUTORIAL (WITH PICTURES), and How To Attach a Picture to a Post could maybe be moved to the other forum with the Abreviations and Shopping lists, etc. It's just a thought, but if these were in the first forum, as you come in, maybe there wouldn't be so many ticker post in the other forums. It may not make a difference anyway, just a suggestion though. I'm not trying to be difficult, I just get tired of seeing all the ticker posts. Thanks.

Any Medical Transcriptionists Out There????
georgia girl replied to georgia girl's topic in The Lounge
Thanks for the info. I just signed up at Penn Foster Career School to go through the program and hopefully I will have my diploma in 6 to 8 months. I checked the school out with the Better Business Bureau and they are in good standing and have been around since 1962. Did your daughter get her training through the company or did she go through a career school? Thanks for all the info, I really appreciate it. -
I am looking into online training for Medical Transcriptionist. Just wondering if there is anyone in this career that could answer some questions. I want to work from home, so my questions are: 1. Did you get your training online? If so, which training program did you go through and were you happy with the institute. 2. If you have completed your courses, how long did it take you to find a job? 3. Were you able to pretty much set your own hours? (I have a son who's almost 2 and he keeps me very busy) Thanks in advance!

I agree, I would love to see a girl win it this year.
