Newbie from Georgia

Thanks sghatl and 4jin, I'll look for these things. There's not a Kroger here in Moultrie, but I'll check at Wal-Mart. -

Wow, sghatl, I can't believe how great you are doing, and the fact you had a hernia repaired at the same time, I'm just amazed. Being on liquids ,for so long, can get boring. I absolutely love chai tea. The other night I made some with low sugar apple juice and added a little splenda and it taste like hot apple cidar. What kind of SF apple cidar do you buy? I love drinking that at this time of year. I'm so glad you are doing well. -
That's great lapinND! Hope it happens for you soon. Sounds like you have everything under control. Keep up the good work.

Support forum for the positive aspect of banding only
georgia girl replied to rebandit's topic in Rants & Raves
I agree. I lurked around on this forum months before I became banded and some of the things I read scared me to death. In the end, I was willing to take the risk. -
Support forum for the positive aspect of banding only
georgia girl replied to rebandit's topic in Rants & Raves
Rebandit, I disagree. I have read threads and posts that describe the good, the bad, and the ugly experiences with the band. So far, I haven't had any problems with the band, who knows what the future holds, but I knew coming into this that it would not be easy and there were risks for complications and so forth. I read about many of them here on LBT. So, I do not think this forum is focusing ONLY on the postive. -
I agree with most of your post. Her being like a "chameleon" is very good for her success. Like I said earlier, I saw her Macon, Ga. show and the southern accent sounded really forced and unnatural to me. I have no problems with Oprah. There are many public figures that do the same thing. Oprah just happened to be the one that this thread was about.

I hate it when people post just to post.....
georgia girl replied to TerriDoodle's topic in The Lounge
All this talk about "penis pumps" has given me a mental picture of Austin Powers...............and that's NOT a good thing.............help! -
I'm totally excited about it! It's one of my all-time favorite shows. I love to sing and I am a reality tv junkie. I don't know why, but it's my favorite kind of tv show.

I think you need to re-read my post. Somehow you have turned my post into an Oprah hating discussion. Nothing I have said has been racist. I watch Oprah when I'm interested in the topic and I think she does a lot of good. My post stated that I don't care who she endorses. Just so you know, I like the Oprah Show a whole lot more than the Martha Stewart Show. The color of their skin has nothing to do with it. Anyone can be strong and professional, no matter what color - IMO, you are the only one that is making it an issue.

It is amazing how much a low-carb diet can help with weight loss. The one time (before being banded) I lost weight was on the Atkins diet. I lost about 50lbs on it, but once I came off the diet, I gained it all back plus some. I think the band is going to help me keep off the weight permanently. -

Hey glowdawn! Were you ever diagnosed with PCOS? If not, I think if I were you, I would have another test taken, just because you were having some symptoms when you were thin. Better to know for sure. Good luck to you. -
I grew up not very far from you. I lived in Norman Park for 19 years, then moved to Moultrie once I got married. It would be wonderful if Dr. B's office could get a support group started. Nice to meet you and good luck.

I don't deny that Oprah is a strong, professional woman at all, or that she probably makes more money than all of us put together. And I certainly don't think anyone here has said they hate Oprah. Personally, I don't care who she endorses, it won't sway my opinions at all. I understand where both sides of this agrument is coming from. On one hand, I don't care who Oprah endorses because I am perfectly capable of making an educated decision without her stamp of approval. On the other hand, there are many people who will not research for themselves and vote for Obama just because she endorses him, but that really isn't her fault that her followers do not think for themselves. I certainly have not been offended by anything Oprah has said. I agree with Transformers post, her chameleon-like skills are for ratings, but it still irritates me.

Welcome riotgrrl! I think you should go for it. I won't lie, it hard work, but think of the end results. It will help you be a much healthier person. Good luck to you on your lap band journey! -
So, just because I don't agree with every word you said, I am not decent or intelligent. If you read my post again, you'll see that nothing in my post stated anything about talking a color. I could be wrong, but I honestly don't think that Tits original post was meant to be a racist remark. I was simply commenting on her accent, period. BTW, listening to Paula Deen quote 50 cent lyrics would annoy me too.

SO NOW I am anorexic?? I hate people...
georgia girl replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in Rants & Raves
LJM- I know, it irritates the mess out me. No one has the right to tell me when I need to stop, but me. I feel really bad for those that have worked so hard to get where they are, and to deal with this stuff everyday.........I can't imagine. Hang in there Boo Boo Kitty, you look great! -
SO NOW I am anorexic?? I hate people...
georgia girl replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in Rants & Raves
I had someone comment to me the other day that I was looking good. I told them thank you and that I still had a long way to go. The other person said, "You don't need to lose too much more, you don't want to get too small." I just stood there in awe. I've got at least 130 more pounds to lose, I was speechless. I agree with what some of the others said about jealousy being a big part of it. People are just used to us being the "fat" one...........they wouldn't want us to actually start looking better than them. How superficial. Of course we want to look better, but I think it is safe to say that we're doing this mainly for our health. -
I did all my shopping online this year too. And I have to say........I am not nearly as stressed. I think this will be my new tradition!

Are you saying that just because I'm not offended that I'm not a decent or intelligent person? My point in posting that, is to say that we could pick each others comments to death and it would be a never ending cycle. The fact is, Oprah does change her accent, depending on her audience. I watched the "big giveaway" show, in Macon, Ga., and for most of the show, she spoke with a southern accent. It was sooooo fake. It didn't offend me, by any means (even though I am from Southern Georgia and I do have a southern accent). It was just fake, plain and simple. I don't try to change my accent when I am speaking to someone from, lets say...........New York, or California, or anywhere else. I think the question that Tits was trying to ask is, Why does she feel the need to change just to fit in with a certain audience?

Protein Shake ???????
georgia girl replied to tetelove69's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What kind of shakes are you having trouble with? If it is a powder, try mixing it with skim milk instead of water. I used the Pro Performance protein powder from GNC (chocolate caramel). For some reason, that particular flavor wasn't lumpy or thick. I mixed it with skim milk. -
I Just Got A Date For Surgery
georgia girl replied to clemonsceleste's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations! I'm not that experienced yet, but I've had really good results so far. Good luck to you! We Celebrate that southern tradition as well. We have all the traditional southern food. My grandmother was very superstitious, and would insist we have everything. And we could never wash clothes on New Years Day either, she said if we did, we would wash someone out of our lives that year. I sure do miss her. Anyways, Good luck to you as well! Congrats to you too! Good luck! -
Congratulations, Jalee! That is a wonderful Christmas present for yourself. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
