Mia- I don't think it's going to matter until you start eating soft foods. I was so swollen for so long, I really didn't think about it. I basically had to take a teeny tiny sip every 15 minutes until week 2. One of the other ladies might be able to tell you more, but I don't think it matters right now. -
chocolate snaps, I'm not nearly as tight as I was a week ago. I was able to eat 8 chicken nuggets last night and that is very unusual. I could just kick myself for eating that much. I have 6cc in my 10cc band and think 1 more cc might put me at my sweet spot. I did something about a week ago that really helped me out. I participated in the 2 day no carb challenge (in the general support forum) and I ended up doing it for 5 days. It really calmed my cravings and really made me examine my "hunger". It's funny because out of the 5 days I did nothing but Water and low carb Protein shakes, I was never actually hungry. I know this won't work for everyone, but it worked for me. Even though I didn't lose any weight during the no carb challenge, I feel like it helped me a lot. I also started taking a new medicine for PCOS this past Monday, and I think it is helping me lose weight too. Don't feel bad, I just went a whole month without losing anything and now it seems that it is coming off pretty fast. I was really beginning to worry, but my nutritionist assured me that is was just a plateau. I've also been watching my carbs, I haven't really been counting calories or carbs, just trying to eat as few carbs as possible, and I've only been eating when I get hungry. The best thing that has helped me is cutting out ALL of my night-time snacking. That was my biggest problem. I've vowed not to eat anything after my dinner anymore. This Sweetheart Goal has really motivated me to try to do better.

Mia- I had a very hard time getting in my fluids the first week. Dr. B seemed to think that I probably swell more than most people. I did get dehydrated which caused me to be very nauseous for the whole entire week. As long as you are not dehydrated, just keep trying to get in as much as you can. I agree with nip, stay on the clear liquids for a week, then move to protein drinks. I didn't use ensure, it's loaded with calories and sugar. Try the low carb slim fast, that's what I'm using now.........I think it has 20 grams of protein per can. -
Okay, I finally got some cardio in this morning. I did 20 minutes of step aerobics. Now, if I can just get through the eating part of all these parties I have to go to, I'll be doing good.
-
You're very welcome.

That's a really good one!!! I can't wait until I can wear some........well, sexier undies. I've been wearing the same kind of white cotton full coverage panties for as long as I can remember. I'm sure hubby will be glad too!!!

It stands for Non scale Victory.

I think the reason I could eat so many is because it is processed chicken. I don't think I am at my sweet spot yet, but I do think I am very close. When I first got this last fill, I really thought I had hit it, but it has relaxed a lot. Right after my fill, I even had a hard time drinking my morning shake, but in the last couple of days, I haven't even been that tight in the mornings. I hope I'm not losing Fluid. My husband weighs 238 and I can't wait to weigh less than him. I don't think there is a fashion bug in Moultrie, but there is probably one in Tifton, which is 30 minutes away.

whoooo hoooooo! Congrats! I wish I had taken my measurements too.
-
Hazeleyegrl, how's the new scales workin out?
-
Well, I started off at 275 and I now weigh 272, so I have 11 pounds to go. I'm not going to weight again until Monday, it had gotten to the point that I was weighing almost every day and I was getting very frustrated. I've been gone out of town again today, so I didn't do any cardio, but I did do some light weight lifting this morning. Unfortunately, the rest of my weekend is going to be just as busy. I have 2 birthday parties to go to and a family get together on Sunday, along with Church that morning and evening, so my weekend is packed. I'm going to try my best to get some cardio in tomorrow morning. I ended up taking my elliptical back to the store today for a refund. It started squeeking and wabbling yesterday. I ended up just buying a step platform and a step aerobics video. Hazeleyegrl, I didn't make the best food choices today either. It's so hard to eat a healthy meal when you are on the run all day. Anyway, here's what I ate: Breakfast: Low carb Protein shake Lunch: individual size crust-less spinach quiche (equals about 1/4 cup) Snack: 1 oz muenster cheese Dinner: 8 chicken nuggets from McDonalds Late night snack: cup of chai tea

Maybe I'll be one of few that don't have a problem with it. Can't hurt to hope. I was tested for Cushing's disease before I was banded. It really is amazing how close in relation the symptoms are. My cortisol level came back normal. See, I have most of the side effects of PCOS, but I DO have a regular cylcle (which has been regular for about 3 years now), and it has been confirmed that I DON'T have any cysts on my ovaries. That's why I thought I may have cushings. Bandster_1007, it's always a good idea to have a full hormonal work up done if you are having problems. I finally went to an Endocrinologist and found out that I have more than just PCOS related hormone problems.

That's exactly what I was thinking as I was reading!

Well, guys...........I think I finally got past my plateau! I've dropped 3 lbs since Monday and I am soooo excited. Late night snacking is a real problem for me, so I've cut that out completely and also bumped up my exercise. I also started taking Actos plus Metformin on Monday, so maybe that has helped some. -

Hi Dr. JLo and welcome to LBT! I'm a huge fan of Big Medicine and I have seen your work on the show. Thanks for your willingness to answer our questions. I still have a long way to go, but I know I am going to need skin removed. How close to goal weight should I be before considering plastic surgery? I am definitely leaning towards the LBL. Does the LBL take care of the inner thighs and pubic area too? Also, can you take fat from one part of the body and implant it into another, such as the buttocks? Thanks for your time, I really appreciate it!

Hey Laurend! Did Metformin bother you immediately after you began taking it? I've been taking the Actos plus Metformin pill since Monday and I've not had any problems. I've also dropped 3 lbs since Monday, which is a big relief because it has been over a month since I lost anything. I'm hoping this medicine had helped me get past my plateau.
