    Newbie from Georgia

I just checked her profile and she hasn't posted since 12-31-07. I hope she's okay. Buttercup, let us know how you're doing. Atlspeedy, good luck with the appointment and keep us posted about your surgery.

    Wondering....

If you're worried about getting it stuck and PBing, maybe you could get some pancake mix and try one in the privacy of your home first, that way you'll know whether or not you can handle it. I've never PBed or slimed either, so I don't usually try new things in public. I also try to limit carbs but I think it's okay to eat treat myself every now and then. Go, have fun, and enjoy!

I have a HUGE favor to ask of YOU ALL!!! :o)

Baby Ruth, your animated trampoline lady made me laugh, it's really cute!!!
  4. I buy the Family Sized package in the frozen section that has the beef already in it, so yes, it does save time for me. I don't know that it saves money, though. I also know that hamburger helper isn't that good for you, but it's great for the fam when we need to eat in a hurry.

I voted for you too Sherri, I just hope that if you win, you are eligible for some sort of prize because you deserve it. Good luck and congratulations on your success!

    Websites for logging food intake

I also use The Daily Plate. It's free, and it has a lot of foods stored to choose from. There has only been a couple of foods I couldn't find listed. You can also log your exercise too.
  7. Shortgal, I agree with you and I do try to watch my sodium, but my husband.......NO WAY. Believe me I have tried. He salts everything before he even tastes it. After he graduated from high school, he moved out of his parents house for about 3 years prior to us getting married. He lived on frozen pizza and hamburger helper and "boxed foods" for 3 years and I'm still trying to undo that damage. It has gotten a lot better since we first got married, but it's still pretty bad. I am trying my hardest to not let my son develop those eating habbits.

Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits

I'm terrible with directions so, how long of a drive is it to Tifton? How long to Albany? I'm still hoping that Dr. Bagnato's office will put together support group meetings soon. I don't know for sure, but I would think when they do, it will probably be at Palmyra. I really think we need this and I hope it happens soon. I think I like Bagnato Bandits too! What about everyone else?

Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits

Hey Kat, I'm glad to hear you're doing well. I really didn't have much trouble with gas, so I don't know exactly what to tell you. I had major swelling issues and could barely even sip every 15 minutes until the swelling went down. Mine was more like pressure and sharp pain between my breast, my breast bone area I guess? Are you drinking your drinks really cold? Elizabeth told me that you can have esophagus spasms and it helps to drink your beverage at room temperature, if you are having them. I hope whatever it is, it gets better soon. If it is gas, I've heard that walking really helps, so you are doing the right things.
  10. I started losing my hair about 3 months after being banded. That was way before I started this atkins challenge. I''ve actually noticed I'm losing less since I started this. I've definitely been getting more protein since starting. I'm not doing atkins induction or the atkins diet long term. I started this to kickstart my plateau and get over my sugar addiction, which for the most part, excluding last night, I have. I don't think this diet is for everyone, just as your way isn't for everyone. I think people should find what works best for them and stick to it.
  11. Bloo, you're my hero! You are doing so good. I really need to start doing better. Losing and Renewed, I'm in, let's start strong tomorrow. I went to Wal-mart tonight, to pick up some more of those stuffed chicken breast, and what do I see..........Valentine chocolates EVERYWHERE!:party: So I picked up the smallest box of Whitman's chocolates and ate all 7 pieces. I feel like such a freak today, I don't know what has gotten into me. I seriously need to get back on track.
  12. Vessa, I am in the same boat! I am also a SAHM with a 2 year old. My husbands income is all we have to live on, and sometimes it's a stretch. Unfortunately, I can't get my husband to any kind of healthy meal. He's very picky and very stubborn (but I love him anyway). So usually I end up cooking 2 meals. Usually I can cook large enough meals for me to freeze and I just heat them up for dinner. My son is not hard to please, so between both meals, he's pretty happy. My husband is perfectly happy with hamburger helper and Totino's frozen pizza (like $1.00 for a whole one). I am the one who spends most of the money for food. Unfortunately it does cost more to eat healthy, but fortunately I don't eat near as much as I used to. Try cooking Breakfast foods on some nights. eggs, grits, and a meat of your choice is pretty inexpensive, or even omelets. Here's some recipes I found that may help you. Not all of these meals are "band friendly" but there may be some good ones for your husband. Beef Stroganof 1 pound ground beef 1 onion salt, pepper and garlic powder 1 can of cream of soup Saute beef and onions, then drain off the grease. Add 1 can cream of mushroom soup. Add seasoning to taste. Cook 1 bag egg noodles or some whole wheat Pasta and add that. Mix together and enjoy Cheap chicken and Tortillas 9x13 pan 1 package flour or whole wheat tortillias (10 count) 3 bone in chicken breasts 1 can 98% FF cream of chicken soup 2 cups Reduced Fat grated cheese (1 pkg) 3 tbs salsa or taco sauce Boil chicken breasts & take off bone then shread Put back in pot - stir in salsa or taco sauce - mix well so chicken is coated Put 2 spoonful of chicken in tortilla and sprinkle with grated cheese then roll and put in pan. Continue until all tortillas are filled. In a bowl mix 1 can of cream of chicken soup and 1/2 can of Water together to make a "gravy" Pour over the rolled chicken tortillas Sprinkle grated cheese over the top. Bake in 350 oven for about 30 minutes Let set for 5 minutes You could serve this with a lettuce salad, salsa and sour cream on the side. This also freezes well and for 2 people can be split and frozen for up to 2 weeks although the tortillas do have a tendency to get a little soggy. I am not a huge fan of canned chicken but if you like it, you could substitute it for the chicken breast and it's a lot cheaper. Scrambled Egg Stir Fry 6 eggs scrambled and set aside 2 bags frozen vegetables of your choice Cook the veggies in wok or large skillet till tender with a little bit of water to steam. Then add the eggs in and some garlic powder, onion powder, or however you want to season. You could also add a little cheese if you want and voila, your done! Delicious and healthy. Oven Roasted Tomatoes This is a good inexpensive side dish! 6 or 7 Roma tomatoes Italian dressing Parmesan cheese Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Slice the tomatoes about 1/4 inch thick and line on cookie sheet in a single layer. Baste each tomato generously with the dressing and sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese on each one. Bake for about 15 minutes. If you love tomatoes, you will love this recipe!!! 5 Can Mexican Soup 1 (14.5 oz) can Mexican Tomatoes 1 (8 oz.) can Mexican-style corn 1 (18.5 oz.) can Fat-Free Vegetable Soup (ready to serve) 1 (4 oz.) can chopped green chiles 1 (14.5 oz.) can black Beans, drained and rinsed Mix all the ingredients together in a pot and heat on med-high until hot. Serve alone or with tortilla chips and FF sour cream. Taco Salad I don't really have measurements for this one I just eyeball it. Lettuce lean ground beef or turkey Taco sauce Shredded cheese (regular or reduced-fat) sour cream (regular or fat-free) FF refried beans Cook meat and drain. Add taco sauce to your taste. Mix all the ingredients together and enjoy. Crockpot Chicken Boneless skinless chicken breasts 1 can 98% FF cream of mushroom soup 1 envelope dry onion soup mix Mix mushroom soup and onion soup mix and 2 tbsp of water together. Place chicken in crockpot and pour soup mixture over it. Cook on low all day and enjoy. These recipes are by no means gourmet, but they taste good and they're pretty cheap. I hope this helps.

    The Sweetheart Goal!

Hazeleyegrl, I'm glad you're feeling better. I'm not even gonna bother posting my food today. It was not a good day for me. I was out of town and had to eat lunch on the go, so I did fast food today. Anyway, I'm starting back strong tomorrow. Hazeleye, I know exactly what you mean about the exercise. I haven't done it in so long, I just can't get back in the swing of it. The scales haven't moved for me in a couple of days either.

    MMMMmmm.. Edamame

I received my lightly salted dry roasted edamame from Seapoint Farms today! I've already tried some and they are very good. They are very crunchy and taste kinda like peanuts to me. The only bad thing was, they were a little dry and I was dying to drink something. But other than that, they are awesome!

I have a HUGE favor to ask of YOU ALL!!! :o)

I have a question, are you eligible to win any of the prizes? I know you stated in your story that because you had lapband, you were not eligible for the grand prize. I was just wondering if there are going to be any other prizes you are eligible for?
  16. Welcome Luluc, glad to have you! I can't believe I'm posting this, but here's my menu for today. I am going to drink a low carb slim fast for dinner to make up for my screw up today. B'fast- low carb slim fast Lunch- chicken nuggets from wendy's and about 10 french fries (had to kinda guess on this one) Dinner- low carb slim fast Snack- 1/4 c. lightly salted dry roasted edamame Calories- 943 Fat- 48g Net carbs- 36g :frown: Protein- 73g
  17. Thanks Renewed! That is really weird about the pop tarts. I bought the strawberry milkshake kind for my husband and he didn't like them. I should have thrown them away immediately, I usually don't keep things like that in the house and from now on, I definitely won't. I think my restriction is getting more and more relaxed, but it will be a while before I get a fill because I think I've lost too much. Anyway, I'm just going to focus on meeting my Valentine Goal and then worry about a fill. Great job on the 2 pounds, Renewed!!!!

    The Sweetheart Goal!

Chocolate snaps and Carol, great job on the weight loss!
  19. Everyone is doing great, except me. Today hasn't been very good so far. I had a doctor's appointment out of town (2 hours away) and I had to eat lunch on the go. I ate some chicken nuggets from Wendy's and I ate about 10 of my son's french fries :frown:. I also slipped up last night and ate a pop tart. I'm going to do good for the rest of the day and be back on track for tomorrow. I went to see my Endo today and apparently the reason I'm so tired and fatigued is because of my low DHEA levels. I almost feel like I've been drugged or something. It cause depression too. I haven't really been depressed but I have noticed I'm not as upbeat lately. I just want this straightened out so I will have the energy to exercise again. My insulin levels were high too, I hope all these medicines I'm on now will level all this out. Anyway, I'm getting back on track, I promise.

  21. Thanks Renewed! I'm glad you liked the chicken, like I said, it's my new favorite meal. Do you feel more restriction since your fill? I hope this one gets you where you need to be.
  22. I am so sorry to hear this. I think the most important thing is to get healthy first. If it were me, I wouldn't even consider the lapband until I was healthy again. Do you know if you will have to take treatments? What is the next step for you? I am really sorry this happened to you. You are definitely in my prayers. ((HUGS))
