Slim Fast and fullness in my chest

Wantitbad, maybe there is something in the slim fast that just isn't agreeing with you. You might want to try switching to a different shake for a while and see if it does the same thing, then go from there. Hope it gets better for you soon!

    Papaya and Enzymes Tablets?

I ordered some from Puritan's Pride a while ago and I haven't had to use them yet. I have them just in case I ever get stuck. I've also heard that you can sip on pineapple juice if something gets stuck. I have both but never had to use either, I'd rather be safe than sorry though.

    This is great!!

Renewed, did you ever start back taking Metformin? I've been off of my Actos Metformin since my fill last Tuesday. I wasn't able to eat enough food and I was feeling light-headed and drugged all the time. I've just started to eat a little bit of meat and more textured foods, so I'll probably start back taking it tomorrow. I was just wondering if it was working okay for you if you are taking it.
  4. Bloo, edamame is basically a soy bean. It's very high in protein and fiber and low in net carbs. In the frozen section at walmart, there are some frozen vegetables by Green Giant called Healthy Weight Vegetables. It's a mixture of edamame, black beans, sugar snap peas, and carrots that you steam in the bag. That's how I got started eating them. FairyFacade posted that she ordered some lightly salted dry roasted edamame from snackaisle.com and I thought I would give them a try. The dry roasted ones almost taste like peanuts to me, very crunchy and they have a nutty taste. 1/4 of a cup has 130 cal., 4g of fat, 2 net carbs (10g total minus 8g of fiber) and 14g of protein. The only qualm I have is that they are a little dry since we can't drink while eating them. I have a hard time waiting 30-60 minutes afterwards, but they are very good and it's a good way to get in some low carb protein. I know at Sam's you can buy them in the frozen section, but they are still in the pods, so after you cook them, you have to pick the beans out of the pod. My sister eats them that way all the time. I like them best in the Healthy weight vegetables brand, cooked.
  5. Jachut, I had to google ryvitas, lol. The ryvitas sound good, and the sultanas are just raisins right?
  6. Have you tried walking or chewable gas-x? I didn't have a lot of gas, but I read that walking and chewable gas-x worked well for some. Hope it gets better soon.

    Weight Loss post op

1 to 2 lbs is what my surgeon said to expect. Remember, it's not supposed to be fast. That being said, I do think it can come off a little faster, depending on your determination. I've lost a total of 66 pounds in about 21 weeks, that averages out to about 3 pounds per week. I think you'll find that once you are banded, you probably won't lose consistantly every week. I go through spurts, I may not lose for a few weeks........then BAM! I've lost 5 pounds. It's strange.
  8. Thanks Bloo! I got my doctor to call me in some drops, so hopefully I'll get better soon. Here's what I had today, I don't have the numbers though: Breakfast- low carb slim fast Lunch- 1/3 cup canned chicken mixed with melted cheese and ranch dressing Snack- a handful of dry roasted edamame Dinner- 1 cup pumpkin chili

The crazy way my husband handles tel a marketing call.

My sister gives the phone to her 2 year old son when telemarketers call. He loves to talk on the phone and eventually the telemarketer just hangs up on him. He can talk your ears off, lol! Fortunately, I don't have to deal with them. We got rid of our land line phone and now we just use our cell phones. I'm sure there are some telemarketers out there with some outrageous stories about how people handle their calls.

    Cheesy Tuna

I tried canned chicken mixed with melted cheese and ranch dressing today......it was really good. I didn't think I liked canned chicken very much, but it was surprisingly good, very tender and it went down pretty good.

    Eating like a child again

You know, I was thinking about this a few weeks ago. I'm always cutting up my son's meat and I was looking at his plate, then looked at my plate......... and my pieces were cut up smaller than his, lol! It sounds weird to say that my 2 year old can eat more than me........

    Ryan's Steak House

I rarely ask to eat off of the kids menu, I have a few times and I've never had a problem with any of the restaurants and I've never showed a card. I try to avoid buffets because I refuse to pay $15 for 1/2 cup of food. I can understand why they wouldn't give you a child's rate and portion at a buffet, but other places where you order from a menu should work with you. Most of the time I order off of the appetizer menu or if I want a full meal, I take leftovers home.

Slim Fast and fullness in my chest

I drink a slim fast every morning for Breakfast. I am usually pretty tight in the mornings (especially since my fill last week), and I find that I have pressure in my chest as I am drinking it. It usually takes me longer than 20 minutes to drink it, probably around 30 minutes. I just take really, really small sips and wait a few minutes in between sips. Since Slim Fast is much thicker than regular Clear liquids, maybe you should try slowing down a little more and see if it helps. I seriously doubt you've stretched your pouch on liquids. I think it's harder to stretch the pouch than most people think. I'm no doctor, but just from reading other posts, I don't think you've stretched it. Try slowing down and see what happens. Hope this helps.

    Self Pay vs Insurance Timeline/process

It really depends on the insurance and the surgeon. I have BCBS Federal Employee Program insurance and it only took about a month from my first visit (they sent the claim to the insurance company right after my 1st visit) to surgery day. I was very lucky because some insurance companys require a monitored diet for months. Have you met with a surgeon yet? If the surgeon doesn't require a bunch of pre-op stuff, you can probably get the surgery pretty quick going self-pay.
  15. I think many surgeons have different requirements on fills. My surgeon requires no eating/drinking for 2 hours before a fill, then liquids for 3 days following a fill. Not sure if this helps, but I've had 5 fills and I follow the 2 hour rule and haven't had any problems. Good luck with your fill!
  16. Bloo, I'm glad your son is feeling better. Today is a new day for me too! I am starting back with low carb. I'm still pretty tight from my fill, so I don't know if I will be able to handle meat yet, but I'm still going to try to keep it as low carb as possible. I really planned on starting back exercising too, but that isn't going to happen. My leg finally feels a little better unless I squat, but now I have an ear infection. I get them quite often and they really hurt . Anyway, at least I can control the eating part.

    Crushing pills question

I don't crush my pills but I cut them into pieces (about 4 pieces). I've never had anything to really get stuck and I've never PB'ed. Maybe I'm too cautious, but I don't want to run the risk of one getting stuck.
  20. My doctor doesn't mind if I drink ONE protein shake a day. I drink one for breakfast every morning because I am very tight in the mornings. Believe it or not, it does keep me full for a good 3 hours.

Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits

Welcome Brina! I'm so glad you found us! I know exactly how you feel, I went through the same thing. The day before my surgery I started second guessing my decision. I knew deep down this was the right thing for me, but I was still scared. Once you get there and get the "drugs", it will be over with before you know it. You'll just feel like you took a short nap. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer what I can.

    "Green" Day Challenge

Hazeleyegrl I've been doing good with the "green" foods. I've been eating a lot of spinach and green Beans. I'm still pretty restricted from my fill, so I haven't been able to eat any meat yet. Spinach dip is pretty low carb and it goes down easy, so that's what I've been eating for the past couple of days. I'm really having fun with this challenge too! I've been trying to "go green" by using a lot less energy by opening up the blinds during the day instead of turning on the lights, making sure the TV is turned off when we are not watching (I've always been bad about leaving the TV on when we leave the house too!), washing clothes with cold Water and only drying them for about 10 minutes (long enough to fluff them and get wrinkles out) then hanging them up to finish drying. I'm excited to see how much less our electricity bill is going to be! How is everyone else doing?
