Pain along right side of rib cage?

I've never heard of gallbladders being removed with WLS, but I have heard that some people had hernias repaired with WLS.

Dr. John Bagnato - Bagnato Bandits

Hey everyone! I think I may be having gallbladder attacks. I knew that obese people were at high risk for gallbladder problems, but I didn't know that rapid weight loss could cause it. I think I have had 2 gallbladder attacks. Both happened at night. The first one was a stabbing, cramping, sharp pain in my lower back that lasted about 30-45 minutes. The second one was a stabbing, sharp pain right under my ribcage on my right side and it lasted about 30 minutes. Has anyone had their gallbladder removed and were the attacks similar to mine? I posted about this in a couple of different places, but didn't get much of a response. Any information would be appreciated.

    Gall stones...anyone?

I think I may be having some gallbladder attacks. So far, I've had 2 episodes. One was a stabbing, cramping, sharp pain in my lower back, it started right after I started eating one night and lasted for about 30-45 minutes. The other night, I had another stabbing, sharp pain right around my ribcage on my right side, it lasted for about 30 minutes. I was trying to figure out if I need to wait and see if I have another episode or go ahead and make an appointment. How do they know if it is gallbladder attacks?

Pain along right side of rib cage?

Laurend, this is soooo weird............first the ear infection, now this. I'm begining to think we were seperated at birth, lol! I am having the same problem....kinda. I had an episode last Saturday night, a very sharp, cramping, stabbing pain in back started and lasted for about 30-45 minutes. It went away, so I didn't think much about it. Then last night, I had the same sharp, stabbing pain right around my ribcage on my right side, it lasted for about 30 minutes. I couldn't hardly move and it hurt worse when I tried to. I did some research and I was thinking it could be gallbladder. I never knew that losing weight could cause gallbladder problems, I always heard that obese people were at high risk, but not weight loss. I guess I'll wait it out and see if I have another attack......

    Big Medicine

I saw it! They usually don't have to many lap band patients, mostly Gastric Bypass patients. He really did do a good job explaining what he was doing and how it would work. I was sooo proud of Tiffany. I really hope she sticks to it and has good success. I could really tell a difference in her face after she lost some weight.

    "Green" Day Challenge

Hazeleyegrl- I have been having major sweet tooth attacks too! I think it's because I had stopped taking my meds, but I started back taking them today, so I don't have any more excuses, lol! chocolate Snaps- no loss is better than a gain, I haven't lost either. I guess I'm going through another plateau, and I'm hoping to bust through it soon!

    For those who have PCOS

It could be because I am only taking 500mg a day. My Endo started me out low and wants to continue doing bloodwork and adjust as necessary. How many mg are you taking?

Severe pain in side and back

Thanks for your response. What tests have to been ran in order to find out if it is in fact a gall bladder problem? I've only had two episodes, so should I wait it out and see if it happens again?

    For those who have PCOS

I must be the only one that does not have that nasty side effect of diarrhea from taking metformin. Do you guys think it may be because my metformin is mixed with Actos? Idk, I'm just glad it hasn't affected me in that way. Smsmithart- you brought up a good point about craving sweets. I've been off my actos metformin since my fill last Tuesday because I wasn't able to eat solid food and I was getting light-headed and sluggish. Ever since I stopped taking it, I've only wanted sweets and junk food. I wouldn't have thought there was a connection until I heard you point that out. I'm definitely going to start back taking it today.

    Sooo, yeah. Bad week.

Sorry you are having a rough time. I know all about the ear infections. I've been battling one for a few days and it's not getting much better. I actually get them fairly often and thank goodness, this one hasn't gotten as bad as most of my others. I think I may have caught it early enough. Now my throat is getting sore too! My niece and nephew had strep throat and I was around both of them. I hope it's just ear or sinus drainage and not strep throat. I feel you pain, it hasn't been the best week for me either. Hope you feel better soon!

    This is great!!

Renewedhope I'm sorry about your foster kids, I know you miss them, but at least they are with family. It really is a challenge being a SAHM, financially speaking. My husband and I have made a lot of changes in order to make it work. I've been a SAHM for almost 2 years now and I just can't imagine it any other way. I am truly blessed for the opportunity to do this. We had actually thought about about homeschooling our son, but I think we have decided against it for now. I'm actually taking some online courses to become a medical transcriptionist so I can work from home. I'm not sure what the future holds for us in regards to having another baby. We decided it would be a good idea for me to work from home in case we do decide to have another kiddo (after I reach my goal weight). Speaking of goal weight, I'm really having a rough time right now with food. I just got a fill and I think I may be at my sweet spot, but I keep eating all this junk food. I've actually gained a couple of pounds. It's really depressing. I hope once I start feeling better, I will make this weight loss happen. Sorry for rambling, but it's nice to have someone to talk to about this. My husband just doesn't understand. Don't get me wrong, he's great and supportive of my weight loss.......it's just hard because he keeps junk food in the house. I keep telling him he needs to start eating healthy and try to lose weight with me, but you can't make someone do it. It would be so much easier if he would do this with me. He probably needs to lose about 60 lbs. I worry about his health because his bloodwork came back that his "good cholestorol" is low and is "bad cholestorol" is high. The doctor put him on a diet a few months ago and he just wouldn't stick to it. The new bloodwork from a few days ago came back even worse. Again, sorry to ramble, just needed to vent a little. Thanks for listening. How have you been doing with the dieting?

I don't see why you couldn't use eggbeaters, I've never used it, so I don't know how much. Let us know how it turns out if you try it!

    Restaurant Traps

Well, I just called the Subway in my town and they don't serve soup . Man, I was soooo excited too............oh well.

    Restaurant Traps

I had no idea that subway served soup! I used to love subway and I haven't been there since being banded. My husband loves it too and we never go because I didn't think there was anything I can eat. I know they serve salads, but I'm not a huge salad fan and I'm a little scared to eat lettuce. I've heard a lot of people say they can't eat it. I'll have to try salad at home first! I will definitely be willing to go now since I know they serve soup! Thnaks for sharing!

    Cheesy Tuna

Thanks for the Parmesan tip Frustrated! I made some canned chicken with a little bit of ranch dressing (just enough to make it a little creamy) and parmesan cheese and it was delicious!
  22. I used the weight when I weighed at my first lapband appointment, which was about 1 month before my actual surgery. It just so happens that it was my highest weight ever. I used that weight because that's when I actually started my process with the pre-op diet and I was very proud of myself for sticking to it.

    Biggest Loser

I'm not feeling Bob either! I was really disappointed in his decision for picking his team. I thought he simply only cared about winning, not the feelings of the contestants. I think he just wants to beat Jillian, at all cost. I mean, he could have mixed the teams up to be fair. I could be wrong, but I really think Jillian would NOT have picked only the heaviest ones that could drop the most weight. In all honesty though, I think they are better off with Jillian, even if they don't win. Brittany and Bernie were pretty upset because they had been representing the blue team all along, it was sad. I really like Brittany and Bernie too! They are my favorite.

    This is great!!

Good luck with the fill, I hope it's "the one". I can tell a huge difference since my last fill, I just hope it lasts this time. My scales haven't been moving either, but it's mostly because of me. I haven't been able to exercise and I've been eating crappy food. As soon as this ear infection is better, I am going to start really working on my exercising. Does the Metformin make you feel drained? I have enough hormone issues as it is and I haven't had any energy in months, but I have noticed since I've been taking my new medications, I have even less energy. It's depressing because I just want to feel good again. I think one of my biggest problems is sleep deprivation. I just ordered a relaxation CD that's supposed to help you go to sleep a few days ago. I really think I have insomnia, I usually stay up till at least 2 am, sometimes 3 am and I don't take naps during the day either (Except today, I was up all night with my ear hurting, so when my son takes his nap, so am I).

    I can see my ribs!!!

Congrats, great NSV! I don't think it's crazy at all to make a big deal about it (because it is a big deal), it's these crazy NSV's that help us get our confidence back and feel good about what we have accomplished. I can feel mine when I'm laying down, but I can't see them yet.........I'll be sooo excited when I can!
