Nice! I'm glad it all came together, congrats!

Thank you so much for your responses, ladies. I'll need to find a gyno and discuss my options. I promise I'll get on it after the band. I have enough to worry about right now. That would actually be my preference, but I've read that you're an ideal candidate if you have had at least one child. I remember hearing that it makes it a WHOLE lot easier for the doctor to place because your cervix has been opened due to giving birth. I've never had any kids. Oh, now that's cool. That would work for me. I can't do condoms. Seriously. We got some for use during my fertile time last month to avoid getting pregnant and screw up being able to get banded. Rather than using them, I just avoided sex altogether. I HATED it, but I dreaded the idea of messing with the dang condom even more. But there's no way I can do that for 18 months. I have zero self control. Hence my weight. LOL I know I need to get to the gyno. Every visit became a huge emotional disappointment, so it's hard to not see it that way when I make an appointment. And we've moved so many times, I don't even have a gyno in this area. I have to find one. :nervous When I was pregnant, I had to take my pre-natals and I did force myself to remember, but every once in awhile I'd miss a day or two. Can't you possibly get pregnant if you miss even one pill? Haha! Refrigerated?? Weird. I could do that, though.

Pain in the chest area at night
steph_co replied to Carla Hart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd talk to your doctor. It's not a good idea at all to start solid foods so early. They don't keep you on liquids just to torture you - it's so that your band actually has a chance to succeed for you. The point of liquids is so that your stomach (that just went through TRAUMA, simply speaking) has time to rest and heal. Liquids are easy to go through and don't take much churning. But when you eat foods, it does not matter if you chew it 100 times, your stomach still has to put a good deal of work into digesting it - more so than it would with liquid. You could tear your stitches and cause the band to slip. I'd be calling the doc ASAP! -

What does 2.8 cc's of food look like???
steph_co replied to Ms. NYC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your doctor should give you parameters to follow as far as how much food to eat. 2.8cc just means how much saline has been pumped into your band's "balloon" around your stomach. -
Feeling of restriction will start when you get fills. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f13/how-lap-band-actually-works-fills-refills-41738/#post572910

You've already been added, Diva.

I feel ya, Andie. I had my emotional breakdown this morning. Poor DH has been putting up with my oversensitivity the past couple of days and it came to a peak this morning and I realized how much everything is hitting me. Having AF isn't helping much, but I'm just really glad she's here BEFORE my surgery rather than after. We can do this!

They recommend you wear it on your waist as opposed to your arm because that's in the center of your body. I tucked it on the inside of my waist band and hardly noticed it while working last night. It doesn't have to be touching your skin, just needs to be snug against your body. DH wore it today (you can put up to 5 users on it) while he was in a tactical driving class (think screeching tires) and he hardly noticed it. I know it looks kind of huge on their website, but I want to say it's about the size of a pack of Extra gum...maybe a bit longer (I don't have it on me - I'm trying to remember, exactly). Denise - I like it because it shows you all of the information as it's logging it. You can choose what to show: beats per min, avg beats per min, peak beats per min, speed, pace, distance traveled, steps taken, calories. You don't have to get on the computer to see your info. It gave me a good idea of what I burn on an average night at my job and is making me think of ways I can burn a bit more. But, if you want to do the sleep analyzation you need to have the virtual trainer. I'm antsy to get it, but things need to slow down before it'll be worth it to sign up for it. We got a 15-day trial for the Virtual Trainer, but I think it would go to waste right now because there's just too much LIFE going on. Once things start to slow (after the band), I'll set it up.

I searched on these boards for Actitrainer because I was wondering if anybody had one (I got mine today) and found a thread from May titled very similar to your thread: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f81/acti-trainer-like-bodybugg-34505/ It's a pretty cool little device. I'm wearing the chest strap heart monitor with the actitrainer while I'm at work. I'm curious to know how many calories I'm burning and what a difference a little bit of activity might make. I work security doing driving and foot patrols, so I get a fair bit of activity...but I can choose how lazy to be by taking either the stairs or the elevator. I'm also interested to see the sleep monitoring portion of this. I know that'll be good for DH - something's screwy about the way he sleeps - he hardly ever feels very rested. I haven't set up my free 15-day trial of the Virtual Trainer, yet. I'm waiting until after I get banded and DH gets into his own losing-weight groove before doing that so that it can be most effective for the both of us and we can decide if it's worth it. I hope to see more ActiTrainers in the future on here!

Come on over to our November support group! There are several of us right around your surgery time. I'm learning a lot from people that have just barely been through it, but then also get to hang out in my anxiousness with those waiting to have it done!
-
I didn't follow that thread, but I would think the bodybugg would be more of a longterm solution. I'd rather learn how to exercise for my caloric intake than learn how to avoid even the HEALTHIEST of fats to include lean fish cooked in olive oil. That was what turned me off of Alli when it first came out. BTW - you can look into Actitrainer - it's similar to the Bodybugg, but cheaper. I got one. Just starting to learn how to use it.

Glad to hear things went well, Renee!

I'm self pay. Had my initial consult October 18th and my surgery scheduled for November 15th. So, just under a month. Good luck with your journey!

Yay, Zippykat! I'm excited for you. -
starry - Congrats on the band! Yeah, dieting is rough, I know! I know you can make it, though. Keep up the good work! 20 lbs is awesome!

Approved!!! And wondering if I can go through with this...
steph_co replied to nymoosic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go back and forth and my surgery is in a week. I wonder if I can really do this and achieve what I have seen others do. But I KNOW that I can and I know this is right for me because I look at all of my attempts in the past that have been unsuccessful and I just can't face that anymore. Besides the statistic about 98% or something like that that try to lose the weight on their own end up gaining it back in the long term. I need something that's going to keep me accountable to myself for life. Good luck with your decision! -
I'm pretty sure I got mine at a regular grocery store. I can't remember - I actually bought it awhile ago.

LOL!! :pound:

Am I the only bandster not losing?

Sounds to me like you need another fill. -
I don't know about you guys, but apple juice works REALLY well for me as a natural laxative. I had no idea of this until I got the flu, started downing tons of apple juice as my Fluid and developed another problem that wasn't part of the original illness. LOL Once I stopped drinking it, the problem cleared up. You could try that to get things moving. I know it's a lot of sugar, but they do have the light variety and I think a little bit of sugar wouldn't upset me too much if I wanted to get moving that bad. How cool to get to see your band! I'm jealous. LOL
