  1. You will get tired easy the first month but that's common after any surgery. I know the first couple weeks back at work I would come home exhausted & take a nap. But it went away after about 6 weeks out. I bet you will do great!!
  2. I used short term disability and was only out 4 weeks. Only because of the lifting requirements on my job.
  3. 2bullymom miller1109 You are absolutely correct on everything!! I did do this for myself and my health! I shouldn't allow catty jealous or just hateful people get me down! It took a lot of courage & tears to get where I am today! Thank you for your encouragement and support. I really needed it! ????. May you all have a blessed and wonderful week. Thank you again.

    Feeling hurt and empty

I don't do catty. I don't like mistreating others for their shape size or color. So it just shocks and hurts me for people to be that way with me. Thank you for your support. I needed some encouragement today. ????
  7. Anytime!! I wish you the best of luck and I'm here for you if you need anything!
  8. I used Barker in Dallas. My first appointment with him was February 22, 2014. And after all the requirements my insurance approved it by April 20,2014 and surgery was May 7, 2014. The staff, doctors and nurses at Forest Park were AMAZING!! Wish you the best!!!
  9. Hi. I used Barker Bariatric in Dallas for a sleeve. I was 242 when I first met with him. He also suggested the bypass because it's been around longer and has had more studies then the sleeve. I chose the Alene because of the malabsorption issues with having your intestines moved around. I love it. Haven't had any complications or issues. Will be one year may 7. Down 90lbs. Wish you all the best and I think it's totally up to you what procedure you decide on

    New Mexico, Anyone?

Hi ladies!! Just came across this thread. Love that there's a New Mexico group here. I had my VSG at Forrest Park Medical in Dallas on May 7 2014. Almost a year now. I was born and raised here in big city of Carlsbad. Look forward to reading more awesome posts from you all.

    Feeling hurt and empty

My mother in law had a fit when we told her I was having WLS in Dallas. And now all she says is I'm too skinny and need to not lose anymore weight. She points out that I don't eat much at family dinners I. Front of everyone. And I too have lost friends over losing weight. One of my closest friends before surgery won't even speak to me in public now. I understand how you are feeling because I'm feeling sad too. It's frustrating. My home life with my husband and kids has never been better. My health has never been better. I'm just heart broken at how the public and some family have treated me.
  13. I'm at loss. I'm almost a year out and down 90 pounds. I don't get out too much but when I do I've noticed I get treated differently by almost everyone! I've had grocery store clerks ask if I got a divorce. I've had people I've known my whole life tell me WLS is cheating & the easy way out. I've been asked if I was on drugs and if my husband was having an affair. One local doctor here told me he preferred me fat. One ex co worker went on & on I front of his wife of how skinny I was. I was embarrassed for once for being thin. Why can't people just be happy for me for losing weight? No matter how I did it!?! Obviously I qualified for it because of high blood pressure & signs of diabetes. Why can't people just say hi and go on with their life? Why do they feel the need to 20 question survey me & talk about me? I'm so frustrated and saddened by how I've been treated Especially by those I've called my friends. My dad died at 62 from complications of diabetes & my brother is 45 and totally blind from diabetes. Anyone have any suggestions on how to handle public humiliation for being thin from VSG? I'm heartbroken by how people are treating me! Not everyone is so negative but I have gotten more negative then positive. I used to be out going but have become very reserved & a hermit.

    Dont want to loose anymore

@finediva; I know I should ignore the haters it's just hard with some of the hateful things they say. Some of the girls I hung around with are now the ones who treat me different. I do love the feeling & way I look in cuter and smaller clothes. I mainly love that I feel better & don't have any more health issues. Thank you for your support. I needed it today. ????

    Dont want to loose anymore

I am 7 months post sleeve and the only bad thing I've had to deal with is how "friends" and co workers have treated me! I'm down 87 pounds from surgery day in a 6 jean and love that I feel better and feelers confident . I'm just having a hard time dealing with the "must be nice to be skinny" comments and talked about because I had surgery to help with weight loss. I did this for my health not for anyone else or for looks. It ssp heartbreaking to be treated different for losing weight
