  1. That's fine if that's what you want but I don't agree with your thoughts. I had the surgery to get a second chance on training myself how to do things the right way "portion control". Sure, I have made some changes food wise but it may not be as easy as you think. I wish you well on your surgery and new way of eating.

    So exhausted

Hi..I was reading your post and I had a similar experience. My doctor admonished me to get my protein in 60-80 grams a day advising I would be tired beyond compare if I don't. I was drinking less than 40 grams a day. I ordered unflavored protein whey isolate ( it's supposed to be a finer consistency) so I can add it to anything..yogurt...drinks and food I cook...I learned that from another person who had gastric bypass and my nutritionist. Protein is essential ..I'm doing better...and I wish you the best during your recovery.

ways to doctor up your protein drinks

I NEED THAT!!! @ unflavored protein....I am taking in much less than I should. Thanks for that suggestion, I'm going to look for it online right now!!! BTW I love a high protein diet ...my doc did the liquid to shrink my liver. Just think 10 days before and I'm still on liquid..I have one more week of liquid...looking forward to mashed food!!

ways to doctor up your protein drinks

The premixed are sweet...I add Water to mine to thin it out ....the isopure zero Carb drinks come in a lot of flavors and they're not too sweet. If u like water enhancers you can split the bottle of isopure in half and mix it with water and the enhancer. I find the isopure drinks are not the best tasting on their own. The grape frost is OK without an inhancer. I'm excited for you!! I'm only two weeks post op Wishing you well!!!!

ways to doctor up your protein drinks

Sounds good...I just couldn't do the thickness so the ice helped me thin it out. Is the meal replacement also protein?
  6. OK so I had my surgery May 21st and the Protein drinks I had were not working for me (I wasn't able to stomach them). I loved them prior to surgery but had to make some changes. I was taking in 40 grams or less of protein and would have surges of energy then get super tired (and I'm just a newbie). Here's what worked for me: Isopure zero Carb fruit punch Pour half the bottle in with half bottle of Water and use a decaf ice tea with lemon Water Enhancer....delicious ice cold! Premier ready made Protein Drinks : vanilla : pour out into blender cup, put spoonful of decaf instant coffee, ice, and a packet of splender and blend....its like coffee ice cream with protein!! What you don't finish ..freeze and when you're ready to drink the rest thaw a bit in your microwave...reblend and enjoy. I could stomach the icey Protein Drink versus the thick drink...you can also eat with a spoon. chocolate premiere protein : You can use coffee like the vanilla and make an ice mocha Protein shake or just add it to blender with ice a splenda maybe some SF chocolate pudding and blend. I hope you try it and enjoy. I also hope this helps someone who needs to up their protein too. Its helped me a lot.

    post op pain

Yes!!! That's the area! Wow! Thanks for responding. Fortunately I did not have problems with the strips and my incisions are healing so nicely ...but that area appeared a bit swollen today. On Thursday I'm going to my doctors office to attend a class on eating after surgery. I'll ask if he can check on it. Thanks again!!!

    post op pain

I had my surgery on the 21st of May. I've ready had an appointment with my wonderful surgeon (Marc Rickford) and all was well. However, since Saturday I've been having some serious pains around one of my incisions ...it is tender to the touch and hurts when I bend down etc. Has anyone had this experience? Any advice? I'm following the liquid diet..but why is this one area bothering me?

6 week post op and bad pain on left side

I would try some gas x and see if it moves. Gas pains can be scary. Did u have an IVC filter placed before surgery to prevent blood clots? Not trying to scare you but its something I would inquire about with the surgeon. Wishing u the best.
  10. I asked the same question when I has my surgery on the 21st. The gas pains were out of this world!!!! After about a week I started to feel relief...I couldn't drink a lot because I was so afraid of more gas pains!! Now I can drink with a bit more comfort....Congrats on your surgery!!

    new and scared

I think it's natural to be afraid. I had my sleeve Done on the 21st of May and I told the anesthesiologist I was scared and I started crying. He said let me give you something to make you feel better ..in seconds I looked at him and said that worked fast!!! LOL..then the mask came on and I was out like a light!! Fear is a part of life and when we are about to change what we've known all our life it can overwhelm us....I'm looking forward to reading about your upcoming success!! Wishing you well tomorrow!! The incisions don't hurt..the biggest thing you'll have to deal with is the gas pains right after surgery!! In advance I want to wish you well and Congratulations!!! Here's to our health!!

    Just sleeved!

I had my sleeve done on the 21st of May and due to them blowing up the abdomen...the gas pains are awful.....you have to walk them out.....now after about a week it subsides...however we have to adjust to the new gas pains that come with drinking. P.s...with my one week follow up....doc said I'm not getting enough Protein..make sure to get your protein in because you will be very tired. We need protein!!! Wishing you the best!!!!
