    Pregnancy after rouxen y

Yes, thank you for sharing your experience. I'm so sorry you went through all of that. My first two pregnancies I threw up around the clock for 40 weeks and it was miserable. I am concerned about the nutrients for the baby and weight gain. I have an appointment with my bariatric surgeon next week to talk about my specific situation. Were hit able to eat enough before you got pregnant and then it stopped? Or were you not getting enough yet even before getting pregnant?
  2. I had my surgery last June. I'm at my goal weight and I've lost 85 pounds. My weight has been stable for 4 months. Starting in June my doc says it's safe to try and get pregnant. I'm sure I can take enough vitamins to keep the baby and myself nourished. How did your weight gain go? And of course I'm curious how the weight loss will go after I have the baby. Any stories or advice?

    Anyone booked for 10th June?

Best of luck to all of you scheduled for surgery today! Welcome to your new life!
  4. Judyk, Yes, forever connected! June 3rd, the day we got new lives. :-) I'm grateful to my doctor as well. Other than seeing him in the hospital to release me, I haven't seen him yet. My first post-op appointment is June 17th. I'm drinking more. I usually end up between 4-6 cups a day, but I think today was only 3. :-/ It's hard for me and I love Water. Lol

    18 days post-op

I know I how you feel! I, too, thought there was going to be no more hunger. Turns out that isn't the case with everyone. Once I left the hospital I was dying of real hunger. I called me doc and she said it was normal. Moved me to full liquids and it seems to be holding me. But, I need to put "food" in me every 2-3 hours. I can't take much in and by the end of the day I'm under 500 calories and I am diligent about keeping my Protein high. I think you're doing great! Everybody and every body are totally different. I even tried a quarter size bite of bread that I chewed up very well and didn't get sick. So, I doubt I'll have anything that I will never be able to have again. So, I know that I must do major portion control, eat slowly, and limit my sugar.
  6. Judy, I had my surgery on the 3rd too! I feel amazing, my swelling is gone and I think the fluids from surgery have been flushed out too. I did have hunger so they moved me to full liquids. I can only get in about 300 calories in 15 waking hours and only 3 ounces of a Protein contains liquid at a time. But with Clear Liquids only I was able to gulp 8 ounces of Water at a time and couldn't get satisfied. I struggle when I see donuts at the office (working today - military). And when I smell delicious coffee or I could go on and on. Only because it looks and smells so good. I'm so happy you are not having issues with that. I know we're only 5 days out but can't you just feel in your spirit how amazing our future is going to be?!

    Gain weight to qualify?

When you go to your doc's office, are you allowed to hold your purse while you weigh? My office was VERY liberal. They understand how valuable this is to people and deal with the frustrations of stupid insurance companies every day. The fight is a hard one for sure. I gained weight an carried a heavy purse. Putting on 19lbs can take longer than you think so be prepared to get creative. In 10 years I bet the BMI will be down to 30 with comorbidities and 35 without. This is such an amazing and life changing surgery!

    Hungry, 3 days out

I just posted the same thing! In 3 days out too! I called my doc about it. I told her I didn't think I could stay on Clear Liquids. She said, for me, that meant I was healing quickly with very little swelling. She moved me to the full liquid diet and said take it real slow. Like the prior post, I got told with actual food you'll be more satisfied. I'm just staying positive. Call your doc and see if they will let you go to at least Protein shakes.

2 days post op with hunger

Update: I called my doc and told her how easy the water and clear liquids were going down. She said that was a sign I was healing really fast. She said even after surgery I didn't show signs of swelling. So she took me off the clear liquids and moved me to fill liquids. So now I can have protein shakes and milk and such. We'll see how that goes. It's exciting though. I'm in good spirits and not craving too much junk. Lol
  10. I had my surgery on Tuesday. I'm on the clear liquid diet. I have been able to drink 64 ounces of water, sugar free Popsicles, jell-o, and water with bouillon cubes. I feel hungry and I can drink 8 ounces of soup at a time. I'm stopping at the recommended 4 ounces but I'm struggling. I though my hunger would be under control. I'm hoping when I move to full liquids and can have protein shakes this will get better. Does any one have any similar experience?

2 days post op with hunger

That's great news! You did RNY? That makes me hopeful. Also, I woke up this morning and didn't feel hungry like I did going to bed last night. I'm down 12 pounds since my surgery three days ago! I'm sure it's mostly Water weight, but still it's nice to see the scale moving. Keeps me motivated!

    Anyone booked for 10th June?

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I actually had surgery this past Tuesday on the 3rd. Even though I cheated Saturday and Sunday, my doc said the surgery went great. I'm not saying that would be the case for everyone. My I did make sure to only have water Sunday through Monday night, then completely fasted until surgery at 2 on Tuesday. Without you guys guilting me into sticking to the diet I may not have been as good as I was. Lol. Anyway, I'm feeling great and headed back to work today! It's mostly a desk job and I can leave if I get tired. Good luck to all of you on the 10th!!

2 days post op with hunger

I drink very slowly and as soon as I feel pressure I stop. Wait for it to away and resume drinking. My guess is maybe since it's all water that's why it's going down easier. I also recover very quickly from surgeries. I was up walking an hour after they got me to my room. I will call the doctor though and ask him. Thanks!

    Anyone booked for 10th June?

I'm having a really hard time with the liquid diet. I'm so hungry and the hunger pangs are so strong I can't say no to food. It's healthy food, but still... I'm scheduled for surgery this Tuesday (3rd). Does anyone know if it's a big deal to eat some and switch to liquids the day before?
