  1. My relationship with food, which consisted of me binge eating because it gave me sensory pleasure, changed because now if I overeat, I feel so sick it feels like I'm gonna die. A couple of those episodes are the best behavior modification you could wish for. Your sleeve will require that you modify your behavior and that will become the new norm. There is nothing more I have needed to do and I feel no hunger and no desire to binge. I guess my brain has caught up with my body. Don't worry. The sleeve restrictions will work for you.
  2. Perfectly normal. Your body has a huge adjustment to make and there are hormone changes to deal with as well. 30 days out I began to feel good about it. 3.5 months out, I know my choice was correct. Be patient with yourself and rest. The first 30 days are the toughest.
  3. My Nut said unless I am lifting a lot of weights, extra protein is just extra calories I don't need. She said to keep it 60-80 and that is hard enough for me to do.

    Never Hungry

I am 3.5 months out. I never get hungry but I do know if I have gone too long without nourishment as I start feeling weak. Some nuts or a protein shake and I'm good again.

When did you try Steak again?

I was a huge steak fan. I am 14 weeks out. I've had ground beef and it was a bad experience. I'll probably will never eat beef again. More and more foods I've tried have gone on my NO list.
  6. Yes I notice it and it boggles my mind now. And food commercials are just revolting. I am 14 weeks out. Just under 60 lbs down.
  7. I've eaten a pie at one sitting many times. When I think about that now, it hardly seems real!
  8. I used to gulp water now it makes me nauseous too. Decaf tea works better, and decaf coffee, gatorade, and crystal light. I don't get why that is either.
  9. I'm not a guy but as mentioned above, scales are not your best measurement! You will have more energy, sleep better, be able to be more active, you'll drop clothing sizes, and your lab results will improve. Those are the real wins!

    Soooo gross!

My husband guilted me into taking a couple of bites of the buttermilk pie he made on Thanksgiving. Got so sick I spent the rest of the day in bed.
  11. It would be very hard to do. You'd have to be a very serious food addict willing to be horribly sick to do it. For me, the restriction is fool proof.
  12. I would just tell them that you'll pass their opinions on to your nutritionist since they are such experts because cheese IS on the sleeve plan. My Nut wants me eating it all the time. People just need to shut their mouths.
  13. I have always been hot natured. I am now down 50 lbs and am anemic. I am cold all the time. I just carry a fleece throw with me.

    What happens if...

Don't panic. It is normal in the early stages but please try your best as dehydration can be very serious and protein and vitamins will give you energy and help you heal. A few months out, a lack of protein and vitamins will make your hair loss worse.

    Food tastes SO good!

In no time, your head will relent, I promise. Now when I see an ad for a big burger, or eat out and see the giant portions, I feel kind of repulsed by it. Your whole attitude will change. Don't worry! Give it time.

    ONEderland!

Onederland is my goal now too! 19 lbs to go! I am excited as my loss has been moving along. Congratulations! I can't wait!

    Excited for the gym!

I joined at 2 months. It was hard to get going but now I love it! I am down 52 lbs in 3 months and have pep in my step. The gym does wonders!
  18. I am alone. I stocked up on my food and did my laundry beforehand. I really mostly slept the first week. You will be tired, in pain, and have limited mobility. Let someone else cook for the family, and wash dishes and clothes. It's easy to overdo. Don't do it. It will delay your recovery.

    Chinese Food

Man, I've been dying for chinese.... Sesame chicken... But I can eat so little at a time, I know I would end up eating a little then wasting it. Maybe later down the road...
  20. I am 3 months out. My husband cooked for the two of us. It was enough for an army. Poor guy! I ate 3 times that day.., each time a tiny bowl of a few bites of turkey and mashed potatoes. (First carbs I've had.) That all went fine. He pleaded with me to try the buttermilk pie he made. A few bites ... I threw up. Never again! All in all, a good day though, and I didn't feel deprived in the least.
  21. Don't fret! A year out you will have much more flexibility in what you eat. You are not going to waste away, if you prefer curves, find the right way of eating to support that by experimenting. Even though we are sleeved and our stomach is smaller, we have the option to eat different foods and more often if we choose. You will be in control. Don't worry! Congratulations on this great positive step for your life and health!
  22. God bless you! Just know you are going to feel like crap for a while! But you will start dropping weight! In s month, things will be very different! So don't worry and get lots of rest!

    Help....please

Lovebuggie, how much do you eat at a meal? Are you feeling the restriction? I am only 9 months out but am really restricted on portions. (If I eat too much, I get sick as a dog.) fluids are a problem for me too but you are not getting nearly enough. Dehydration is going to throw your body way out of whack. What are you able to eat? I drink one protein shake a day (30g protein), usually something like a small can of tuna or chicken, and I snack on almonds and cheese. I also mix yogurt and milk in my travel cup. Between them all I get protein and fluid. It is hard. I plateaued at 2 months and started exercising. Weight is coming off now. I think your best bet is to join a local support group but I see you mention there are none. We will be your support group. You need guidance and help! Try keeping a food log for a week. Get lots of rest. Go for a walk when you can. Please keep us posted. We all understand.
  25. I think around day 10 I started swallowing my meds. (They are not huge.) i was having to gag the crushed ones down, too. I have had no problems since I stopped crushing them. I still don't care for the chewable vitamins but it's not s bug deal.
