Will I ever be able to have a peanut butter cup after VSG?
JCP replied to beingfree's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Of course! And the great news is, you will be completely satisfied with one! I promise... Everything changes! -
I ate and often still eat a small can of chicken mixed with a little mayo for lunch. Just a few ounces, good protein, settles well on my tummy, and is completely satisfying. Just right for me.

This NSV caught me by surprise
JCP replied to borg/assimilated's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I sleep with one leg pulled up to my chest like I did as a teenager. It feels so good!! -
Sleeve NSV >>> Walking Improvement
JCP replied to RaginCajun's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Walking is so much easier! Trips to the store, etc, are really a joy. It always makes me smile to think how it feels now versus how it felt a year ago. -
Any young guys who have lost weight?
JCP replied to CRNA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Crna, that pre-op is tough but it will end soon and you will lose a ton of weight on it. Between my two week pre-op and two week post-op, I lost 27 lbs. Plus you know you are helping to prepare your body for surgery. It'll be great! You will be so glad you did this! Be excited! -
1 year post-op today down 125lbs
JCP replied to Rovobay's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yay!! I too am one year out today. Down 110 lbs. I would like to lose 20 more but that is also a self-made goal. I've gone from a 2XL to a M. I don't snore, was able to get off anxiety meds, have energy and hope, and physically I have not felt this good in decades. My life is back. I am so grateful to my surgeon and his team and for the support of people here. God bless. -
I am in the pre-op phase but so far I am very impressed with my surgeon, Dr. Richard Peterson, and his staff. He is a University of Texas Health Science Center (UT Health) doc. The program is a joint venture of UT Health and CHRISTUS Santa Rosa (where I work). His staff is very efficient, and he is a wonderful listener and takes a lot of time talking with you about the surgery. He also did two tours in Iraq, which makes me respect him all the more. If you are thinking of SA as your surgery location, I recommend you consider Dr. Peterson. You can find him via google and they also have some videos about the program on youtube.

What Amount Can You Eat After Sleeve?
JCP replied to JentryB2020's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
9 months out... A comfortable meal size for me is 4 bites, depending on what I eat. But I eat often. I am never hungry. 115 lbs down. About 25 to go. I feel great. -
You know you lost weight when
JCP replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
When you bathe and your face and body feel like a stranger's. I forgot what it felt like to feel bones under my skin! :-0 -
Delightfully, let your sleeve do the heavy lifting. Many foods, including flour and soda made me sick as a dog for months after surgery. I never went back to them. Your habits will change whether you want them to or not. Don't worry. Just relax and know it's going to be fine.

New swimsuit.. From 2x to 10. Nine months and still trucking. Love my sleeve!

At 8 Months Out I Ate...
JCP replied to june13sleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
10 months out. I love my sleeve more than ever! I can pretty much eat normal food now (can't be real spicy, rich, dense, or greasy of course). I can eat one small chicken leg. Or cut a piece of my husband's steak off (4-5 small bites). I can have one small fajita taco. All of these were my favorites and are again only in much smaller portions. I never feel deprived or hungry. God bless my awesome surgeon! -
Bought this dress last year and have been saving it. Wearing it for the first time today.

Hi all. Well, I am now down 100 lbs (171). My surgery date was 9/10. I'm very pleased. I still have more to go of course but am not stressing about it. The only issue I am having (and I'm thankful to have it) is that my body shape is out of proportion. I am much smaller all over but continue to carry weight in my abdomen. I think that I have 25 lbs or so there. It's like carrying a huge frozen thanksgiving turkey in a pouch. I know I will lose more and likely will always have the dreaded apron (I am 57) and I am not pinning any hopes on plastic surgery. It is just hard to find clothes that fit now! I wear a lot of leggings and tunics as they cover me well but don't bind my tummy... That is terribly uncomfortable. But skirts and dresses for work are tough and forget about dressy work pants. I don't guess there is anything I can do but press forward and hope exercise may mitigate the damage I did to my shape through obesity. Are others dealing with this? Thanks.
-
Thanks Jenn. That's what I'm thinking too. I don't think I would want the plastics even if I had the funds. I hear it's very tough surgery. I'm glad to hear your situation improved. Maybe mine will also. God bless.

My changed tastes made things tough for me also. I snack on cheese and nuts mostly. Sometimes I still have a protein shake. Sliced deli turkey (fresh) does well for me. Peanut butter works very well. Yogurt. I love little carrots and any fresh fruit but only in small amounts.

I went to a party today and people asked me when I am going to stop losing. They said, please don't lose any more weight! God bless you and your husband. Prayers for you both!

The Worst Foods to Eat Post Op. . . . .
JCP replied to thesweetone's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Anything sugary makes me retch. I can't handle bread or pasta I cannot tolerate chicken breast in any form. Hamburger makes me feel pretty sick. -
Please give it more time. Do not drink it now. Caffeine dehydrates you and will not be good for you. Your intestines will not know how to handle it. I started drinking a small cup of black decaf at a month. I then switched to regular after a few more weeks. At 9 months, I drink a cup of regular coffee every morning. I use a little milk but no sweeteners. No problems. I love my coffee. But it is too soon for you. Let that tummy heal. And obey thy surgeon.

I am 9 months. My restriction still varies and is so dependent on what I am eating.

Is WLS the easy way out or the only way out?
JCP replied to *Lexie*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
"Easy" is so ridiculous, it really doesn't even merit acknowledgement. Ignore anyone who says something so uninformed. That's all I'll say. -
Corn does fine for me in small amounts. I think I started at about 6 months. I do not have discomfort but most all veggies wreak a little havoc on my digestion though.
-
I had it, too. And it was awful! I was told I had an abdominal stitch that was pulling. The good news is it went away but it did take 2 weeks. No further problems since.
