Curiosity. .how long is everyone's 1st phase
JCP replied to nonnax2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Two week full liquid pre-op. Two week clear liquid post-op. (Surgery was 9/10.) Two more weeks pureed, then I think it's a month of soft. I have had no desire for food until today. Now I can't stop thinking of fried chicken Gotta cut that out! -
I've been in a lot of pain since leaving the hospital but today it has lessened somewhat. It was not as hard to get out of bed. Took a dose of liquid tylenol, a shower, took a longer morning walk. Working on a Protein shake. I think I am turning the corner... How about everyone else? How is your pain level? Do yall want to set up Sept 10 thread under post surgery?

Amazed at some day one or two post op recovery stories
JCP replied to gregthegroove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 days out and my pain is pretty debilitating at this point. Struggling with fluid intake and taking a few short walks a day. Cried tonight, wondering WTH I did to myself. But hopefully pain will lessen soon. So looking forward to being able to get up and down without grimacing or yelping when I twist my torso. Come on body, heal! -
Can the nerve issue be addressed once you have this surgery behind you? I too have had several foot surgeries for a congenital issue. I know how it hurts. God bless you. I hope you are able to be helped soon.
-
I too relied on advil previously. My doc says it will be tylenol from now on. I am 4 days out. I am taking liquid tylenol during the day, which only helps a little. I take liquid hydrocodone before bed. I am told the pain will diminish soon. Hoping to not need any meds much longer.

I was sleeved Wed. Sent home Friday. Struggling to get my required liquids in. The pain is getting worse. Maybe it does before it gets better. Hoping to turn my corner soon. God bless.

Later this morning will be 36 hours since surgery. As long as I am still, it's an ache. Whole I walk, it hurts but nothing I can't tolerate. When I get up from a chair or bed, it really hurts. How long until that bad pain subsides?

I had no plans to do it as I guess I admit I feel a little ashamed I have not been able to "fix" myself. But I have had so many doctor appts (e.g. the mammogram turned into 2 mammograms then a breast ultrasound... Negative... Whew!) and now this surgery. A couple of my coworkers were concerned, I could tell. They were dancing around the question. So I sent them all an email and said, ok, here's the deal... I got the most loving, supportive responses a person could receive. I am blessed.

I just want to say No Regrets! Sure I am sore but I have a sense of hope that I haven't felt in a very long time. I am proud of all of us! God bless!

Not having support from partner
JCP replied to capiccirillo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's time for a calm, honest discussion if you have not had one on this. You need to express that these comments are hurtful and not healthy for your relationship. If she refuses to support you, you may need to take stock and see if this relationship is in your best interest. Hard to do, I know. But this is a brave step you are taking, worthy of support, not criticism. If she does not believe what the professionals say, she could attend a support group with you and ask questions herself. I wish you the best. This is not an easy choice. We need positive support, not people who will cause us to be filled with doubt and fear. That's not love. -
Leaving the hospital shortly. Have had excellent care. All of the staff are wonderful. Still seems like I am in dream. Only real pain is when I get up or twist my torso. Rest is fine. My surgeon has been by every day and twice today. Will be glad when the pain is subsided. I have no desire for foid. No more doubts. I know this was the right step for me. Rest well, everyone!

Sore today but getting liquids in. No morphine until just a bit ago. One last lap then sleep. Goid night all.

Mine was pushed back month due to anemia. I was very disappointed but had no choice. I was sleeved yesterday. It all worked out finally. I'm sorry yours is being delayed. It will be ok.

Mine was today. All fears gone. Doing fine. God bless! -
Surgery was late due to an emergency appendectomy. Got out of pacu at 1. Last morphine was 2:50. Have had 3 laps around the floor, waiting to do my last one. Then a dose of morphine and bed. Very sore in pacu. Getting more sore again now but not unbearable. Looking forward to sleep. All in all, not half bad at all for such surgery. Staff has been awesome. Sleep well, everyone. Prayers for you.

Well, at the hospital in Admitting. No longer nervous. Said prayers, just putting this in the Lord's hands. Don 't think I slept much but it won't matter soon! Prayers for everyone today.

Wanted: September Sleevers!
JCP replied to Liberianne_Gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
9 hours, 47 mins. I am so scared I am going to sleep through my alarm! And I'm hungry. Come on tomorrow, get here already!! -
Took my shower with that special soap. Guess what... No hot water! Oh well, I was so tired I didn't care. Taxi is picking me up at 5. Surgery supposedly at 7:30. I sure hope this is the right thing to do. Just too tired to be psyched. Looking forward to those Don't Give A Crap meds though! God bless you all and check in when you can! Sweet dreams!

NERVOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's the best thing to mix protein powder with soon after surgery? I prefer vanilla powder.

At the end of this 2 week liquid diet. Had an argument with my husband last night and I drove off in a thunderstorm. (We hardly ever fight.) Just feel so irritable and tired. Have felt very optimistic through all the steps up to this but I think this diet and anxiety are getting to me. Sorry to be such a debbie downer. I should be excited, right?

Not losing weight on PreOp diet
JCP replied to Change it up's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think I have lost any either but have no scales. I cheated once while on my 2 week liquid diet. I am so sedentary though. I feel lousy. My body feels weak and I'm getting irritable. But just have to wait for Wed am. Hopefully it will all be worth it. -
My sister had surgery recently and developed MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus...very bad). Anyone had any experience with a bad infection? This is the one thing I am nervous about.
