Oh Angela, I understand. Don't worry about feeling emotional or losing 3 lbs. Your body has been through a very major surgery and is dealing with it. Please take a deep breath and try to sleep and rest. It's all going to be great.
-
No no! Stop beating yourself up! Our bodies are all different. Our lives are all different. I am 56. I don't expect to lose weight quickly but I WILL lose and so will you! Think where you will be next summer...You will be a new woman!
-
Congratulations! Get plenty of rest! Sleep sleep sleep all you can!
-
Mbrinmn, I think we are all in different situations: ages, lifestyles, health, and Lord knows it seems every surgeon and Nut have their own special guidelines for us. I think we need to be careful about comparing our results. I lost 17 lbs in 2 weeks post op but I was so sick all I could handle was broth and tiny glasses of water. I expect to lose a lot slower now. Sounds like you are making great progress. You are going to be great!

Holy moly!! Please don't worry... That is freaking amazing! I think your body may need a rest!

SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
JCP replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Angela, I didn't weigh either. I am only weighing at my dr appts. I lost 10 lbs pre-op and 17 lbs post-op (2 weeks each). I was shocked! I really had no idea. I think you will be happy when you get 2 or 3 weeks out. You are at the very hardest part right now. -
SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
JCP replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Angela, when were you sleeved? I was 9/10 and am just now feeling more normal. I too felt depression and cried a lot the first week to 10 days. Don't fear... Give yourself lots of time and rest. -
I was alone so had no help. I had gotten everything stocked up and my laundry done. There wasn't much anyone could do. I slept a lot and took pain meds. (Had substantial pain for 2 weeks.) Sipped water and shakes.
-
This is going great. Tonight I had turkey meatballs cooked with cottage cheese and marinara. All mashed up. Just some very tiny bites. Yum!
-
I would be so scared to eat anything fried. Maybe if you oven bake with some light bread crumb topping and olive oil instead...
-
I'm with scrap basket! Get a gown made! Cheaper and so personal! Love it.
-
I sure don't know the answer to this but you might want to talk to a bridal shop and ask to see gowns that could be easily taken in. Then just be conservative in your guesses and have it fitted for you! This is so exciting! Yay for you!

SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
JCP replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Back at work today. Chair is not great... A little pain but nothing too bad. Every day gets a bit better. -
I make mind with carrots and celery. I would think it would be ok to add a small amount of noodles for flavor. I would just blend it all though.

I was considering lap band, have been convinced sleeve is a better choice. Any thoughts?
JCP replied to Ready 4 Changes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just keep in mind, with the sleeve, what's done is done! I chose it because my surgeon recommended it over the other procedures for me, and I did not want a foreign object like the band in my body. I have staples and sutures now but to me it is different. I also didn't want that port. I am good with the path I chose. Go to a bariatric support group and talk to everyone. That's my best suggestion. And read, read, read! God bless!! -
SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
JCP replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Secrets, God bless you tomorrow! It won't be fun at all but just sip that water and sleep all you can! Sleep, sleep, sleep! Take those pain meds! You will get through it and be happy! I am down almost 30 pounds between pre op and post op. Congratulations!! -
SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
JCP replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Three weeks out as of Wed and doing really well. Am eating solid but mushy moist food with no problems of any kind....poached egg and cheese, tuna and mayo and egg, turkey meatball with cooked cottage cheese. Teeny tiny bites! Feeling almost normal! Back to work tomorrow. Last hurdle: want to sleep on my stomach! -
After surgery, I had NO hunger. I am 3 weeks out and am just now finding food appealing and getting any appetite. Still no hunger pangs whatsoever.
-
Get lots of rest and take your pain meds! Don't let that pain overwhelm you. Sleep!
-
Oh I also bought a bag of small frozen pre-cooked turkey meatballs. In a few days, I'll try them mushed up with some marinara and cooked cottage cheese. Easy to do small portions! And like you, I also bought some refried beans. I plan to poach an egg, add a spoon of beans, a little velveeta, and a tiny bit of extra mild picante. Voila! It will be too much to eat at once but you can go back for bites later.

Hi Dame, I went from liquids (2 weeks pre-op, 2 weeks post-op) to stage 3 as I was tolerating the shakes well and not having problems (except pain and some diarrhea ... TMI sorry!) I am able to have eggs, yogurt, cottage cheese, beans, soups, chicken, etc. As long as it is soft and moist and easy to digest, I can have it. If it needs to go in the blender I can do that to make it easier to digest. So there is a lot of variety there if you consider that almost anything can be cooked to a very soft stage and put it in the blender if it needs to be. My poached egg with velveeta cheese was great today, and a little tuna and mayo later. Just teeny bites but it lasts longer that way! So far, I'm very encouraged! Tomorrow I'll try some cottage cheese cooked with a little marinara and later in the day more tuna. As long as we get those protein shakes in, the rest is pretty flexible! I'm excited about it! I hope you feel really good soon!

I think I'm regretting the sleeve
JCP replied to Huggies123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My experience has been very similar. My pain was way more than I expected and for much longer. Liquids were such a struggle and those horrible shakes.... Gag. And the powder made me sick. I was way below compliance with everything I needed to be doing. Had to sleep a lot and take pain meds. Then one day, I felt like I had turned a corner. Pain was reduced out of the blue. Even so, still had to gag down liquids. I was kicking myself and crying a lot for what I had done to myself. It is much better though now and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And having 30 lbs off feels great. Please hang in there and know you are not alone. This surgery is hard!! -
Having surgery is still sinking in.

It is so weird! There will be some days when you get frustrated and say WTH did I do?? But I promise you will be ok and you will get through those days. Just know they happen. Keep that great attitude, get LOTS of rest, and take take good care of yourself !
