10 lbs pre-op (liquids) 17 lbs first 2 weeks (liquids) 4 lbs second (soft) I was freaked out! But my doctor and nut said it is perfectly normal, I will start losing again soon, and these plateaus will happen. Didn't expect it so soon but they are the experts. Anyway, that's 31 down in 6 weeks and I've never done that before! Not going to weigh until my next appt in 2 months. That won't be 4 lbs!

Crap I hope surgery can be moved up

Good luck! It's to their advantage to get you in! -
I haven't had any and maybe will never again. I will be glad to have coffee again someday though.

Sense of taste - Definitely not something I was warned about
JCP replied to JCP's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ann, the Nut (who has worked for my surgeon for years) told me that the taste thing is not understood and that for some people, it is short-lived. For some, it is long-lived and perhaps permanent. Yes, it's better than being obese and the plus side is anything sweet is nauseating to me, at least for now. We'll see... Really hoping it is temporary. -
Mine was bad. But it varies by surgeon and by person. Some say their surgery was not painful at all. Take your pain meds and rest and don't overdo after surgery.

Anger & Aggression After Surgery!
JCP replied to Amour.de.lionne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am short-tempered and I cry a LOT. I was seeing a psych before and still am. I think it is just an adjustment, at least I hope so. This surgery is hard on the whole body and the mind. -
Is it an illusion?
JCP replied to jackie's journey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think some people don't know if they should comment. I've lost 30 and not many gave commented. But know what? That's 1/3 done! -
I am so worried about this as my hair was already thinning due to genetics. Does it grow back? I am 56, one month out, trying hard to get nutrition and am on a lot of vitamins my Nut recommended.

I live in the south. We live on tex mex and southern comfort food. I was and still am willing to give it all up to be healthy. I was sleeved on Wed. But I am curious. Will I ever be able to eat a small taco or a chicken wing again ever?

Sense of taste - Definitely not something I was warned about
JCP replied to JCP's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hope you are right, Jamie! So far, literally everything tastes bad. I'm trying to be positive but it's getting to me and making me worry that this will be the way it is going forward. I hope not. -
Can't tolerate Protein Shakes post op
JCP replied to caitiebrady's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Me, too. GAG. I am just doing the best I can. -
Not sure but I think many do. I did. Easy and painless!

I am one month out. When does this return to normal? (Please tell me it does.) Does anyone know why this happens?
-
I did the meatballs too. Very small frozen turkey meatballs, heated in the microwave with a little cottage cheese and marinara. It agreed with me and tasted decent. But I am also having trouble finding things that set well with me and taste ok. My sense of taste is way off.

Two week post op. Lower back pain and incision area burning
JCP replied to auntjanny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a bad pain for two weeks, then it started to subside. Extreme pain at the main site that extended through to my lower back. In my case, it felt like something was being tugged or pulled. My surgeon said it was internal stitches in the abdominal wall at the main incision. Mine are not dissolvable so it took some time to scar over (and for swelling to go down). I have seen the same post on here several times. Ask your surgeon or his nurse for certain but I suspect you have the same situation. I took a lot of pain meds but then it went away almost overnight! -
Crockpot use helps to stop taste testing issues!

HOW DO PEOPLE NOT NOTICE MY WEIGHT LOSS?
JCP replied to sherripark's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
And Ann is right. Some people notice nothing! I know that from my many haircuts and colors. -
HOW DO PEOPLE NOT NOTICE MY WEIGHT LOSS?
JCP replied to sherripark's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think some people are afraid to say something although I don't know why. I've had a few fall all over me praising my 30 lb loss while others seem not to notice. Oh well! It's for US, not them! -
Hydrocodone (liquid) after surgery. And liquid Tylenol which I have used while at work but it seems to do no good. Taking a short walk seems to help me more. I still use the Hydrocodone at night if I need it but my pain is rapidly going away at this point.

Oh man. How do you feel? Are your labs ok? That is a lot of weight loss very quickly. I am one month out and am pretty food-phobic too. Everything tastes awful! I hope that changes..,

One week before surgery...getting really nervous
JCP replied to Lesile65's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This week will fly by. Before you know it, you'll be in pre-op and they'll be putting you under with those great meds. You'll wake up freaking miserable but it won't last long as they'll give you pain meds again. (Take them.) You'll sleep most of the next few days, then before you know it, you are one week out, then two. My recovery was pretty bad pain-wise but I would do it all over again. Congratulations!! -
Vnessa, poor thing. I am on month out as of Wed and when I was at your point, I was so miserable, I cried all the time. Some people have an easier recovery than others. I don't know why. Mine was awful but it is so much better now. You will be on soft foods soon and then before you know it, you will be back on regular food and your body will be recovered. Right now is the worst part. Please try to rest as much as you can, sleep if you can, take pain meds, and try to get your liquids down. That's all you need to do to get through it. You will be fine. I hope you turn the corner real soon.

Three weeks ago, I was in a hospital bed, on morphine, wondering what the hell I did to myself! (I asked myself that every day for two weeks!) now, I am feeling better every day! Still sore, walking a little slow, but seeing a difference! I am down 30 lbs (with preop). My start weight was 271. I am 56. My face is slimmed down quite a bit. (Hello, old friend! Thought you were gone for good!) My neck is slimmer. (Please God don't let me develop a wattle!) My hands and lower arms are way slimmer. And my tummy is smaller. No change is sizes yet though. Still in my 2x knit pants and shirts. What changes are yall seeing?

Dear Cher, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I am 56 and was really scared, too. I won't lie: I had a tough time my first two weeks pain-wise but I would still do it again. I am now one month out, 30 lbs down, and re-learning how to eat. I am on regular food now. It sounds like you have a lot of stress in your life. I'm glad you are doing this for yourself. It will be tough but you will get through it and start feeling better and more positive soon. Please keep us posted. Love from Texas in the USA.
