Thank you much! I received the dress today and it is so sweet. I think the person who made it put a lot of love into it. It is so special. I hope it works out. I would be honored to wear it.

Daily Multi Vitamin. What do you use ?

Celebrate. My nut prefers them and I feel a real difference. Online only. -
I will be 8 weeks this Wed. In my experience, I was pretty obsessed with food and hydration the first few weeks, and I think that is pretty much a necessity. But as you get further out, your attitudes will change and you will develop a different relationship with food. There is no overeating or eating the wrong things (unless you really enjoy getting very sick ). It's behavior modification to the max. I now see food as fuel. I eat when my body tells me to and I eat small amounts because it's what makes me feel best... Cheese, nuts, turkey, eggs mostly. I see an ad for a big hamburger and it repulses me. I expect most here will tell you the same thing. You are starting a brand new life. Just hang on through the rough ride at first. Then it's going to be great.

I think she was trying to determine my level of knowledge about the procedure (the risks, side-effects). And she wanted to know how I was prepared to face them. She asked about my history (how I had become overweight, what I had tried in the past to lose weight). In my case, I was fit most of my adult life but when my parents both became very ill, I became their caretaker. I stopped taking care of myself completely and just added more and more weight. Then they passed and I developed severe depression. Then I was laid off and it became worse. Exercise became impossible. I began treatment for depression but needed help with the weight. I told her I looked at the surgery as a kick-start to help me get going, and that once I lost enough weight to exercise without fear, I planned to resume. She said I was a perfect candidate. I think the key is be informed, be honest, have a plan. Don't be afraid! They are there to help you!

At 7 weeks out, I can take 3 swallows of water at a time but not anytime near eating. (I was a huge water chugger before.) Have not tried any alcohol.

Thank you, everyone! I feel so blessed! This is going to be a great year for all of us!

Sense of taste - Definitely not something I was warned about
JCP replied to JCP's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This is slowly getting better. Fortunately, anything sweet still tastes horrible and meat also tastes bad. Hope those both are permanent! What seems to really taste good is anything fresh. I took a small bite of spinach salad (I know, not really on my food program right now) this weekend and it was just bursting with wonderful flavor. I also ate some fresh lima beans and they were delicious. I guess it is temporary (yay) and that it is going to be a matter of experimentation. If more fresh foods taste great, then I am thrilled about that! -
Sense of taste - Definitely not something I was warned about

Everything tastes bad to me, even Water. I am now thinking this might be permanent. This article does not inspire confidence. This is very concerning to me. I'm glad to be losing weight but I wonder if I am going to have to gag down food for the rest of my life just to get proper nutrition. Would I have done this had I known? NO. I am one month out. http://bariatrictimes.com/taste-changes-after-bariatric-surgery-what-to-do-when-your-patients-cannot-stand-the-taste-of-their-food/ -
Aww thank you! I just thought it was so sweet and simple and perfect. And I love that it was made so long ago and by hand. Someone put love into it. How touching is that? I just hope I make it.

My husband cooks every night and eats out at lunch every day. He has asked me to go out and I just say no. So far he is not pressuring me but I would have a real problem with it if he did. I'm ok with it all as it stands. I have no desire anymore to eat what he eats. I hope he will also make an effort but it's all up to him.

You will not feel this way forever. My appetite is gone. Food is fuel. It is taking getting used to but it is so freeing. Maybe someday I will enjoy my comfort foods again in small portions. But right now I have no desire.

You look so confident. I love this. -
I am on the mobile app on an iPhone 4s. When I try to attach a pic, I get a message saying the app does not have access to do this and it can be set in privacy settings. I go to privacy settings in the app and no such option exists. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

The good news is the pre-op gets easier the longer you are on it AND you are gonna lose a good bit of weight from it! Congrats!

I can relate. Morning of my surgery, I could not shut up! I talked to the taxi driver, the admitting clerk, all of the nurses, non stop! They were probably glad to give me those magic meds to finally shut me up !

12 days to surgery and I'm scared to death
JCP replied to Tashabella's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also felt strange, as if I was butchering my body somehow... Defacing it. But obesity has done more damage to my body, my health, my appearance, my opportunities, and my life than any surgery could ever cause. Yes, I was afraid. Yes, recovery was hard. But I am now 7 weeks out now and 1/3 to my goal. It is a new life. Change is hard. But your life is worth it. -
Advice needed- sleeved 10/21/14

Fearfully, all pain will eventually go away. The only exception to that is if you eat way too much. Then you will hurt and throw up. But your tummy gives you plenty of warning before that as long as you are not wolfing down food. I promise, you are going to feel much better. At 8 weeks, you are going to feel like a new person. -

Perfectly normal. My doc said don't worry about fluids the first few days... Just do the best you can. Swelling makes it tough. The first week is a bear! Relax and do your best. Don't fret. Sleep! -
Who wants to come to a party?
JCP replied to *Lexie*'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep eating the right things, drinking fluids, exercising, and getting rest! Your body is going to take care of the rest on its schedule. Let it work and avoid those scales! Especially when working out, they are misleading. Keep up the great work! -
so my stomach still hates protein

How about scrambled eggs? I make mine with cheese and the tiniest bit of salsa for flavor. -
No you are not alone at all. I didn't realize I would feel so horrible either. It happens to a lot of people. Take pain meds and sleep. Get the dr to give you an anti-nausea med. It is very hard but about week 3 for me started getting much better. I am week 7 now and feeling much more normal. It is a traumatic surgery. Please try to rest and know you will soon be much better.

Sounds like your body needs fuel. How far out are you? What are you eating? Can you fit in a slice of deli turkey rolled up with a piece of cheese? Nuts? Some canned chicken with a couple of cracker? A boiled egg? I used to work out hard years ago before I got heavy. I would eat baked chicken, steamed spinach, and a tiny spoon of mashed potatoes about an hour before lifting, then a plum about 20 mins before.
