This happened to me twice the first two weeks, then never again. Your mind has to adjust.

Vegetarian/Vegan RNY Oct. 2014 surgery
JCP replied to CafeCathey's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My Nut said it is perfectly fine. Focus on beans, peas, tofu, etc. There are also vegetarian and vegan protein supplements. She was very supportive. I am an animal rescuer so have thought about this for a while. Now that meat no longer agrees with me, I am moving that direction and am excited about it. -
You will no longer be tempted whatsoever by those comfort foods. Your body will strictly control what you can and cannot eat and how much. It sounds scary and unappealing but I am so glad to be done with cravings and binge eating. Food is fuel now. It no longer controls me.

Then there are the chipper sales clerks who ask "when are you due?" I wish I had a nickel for each time. One time my dear mom was sitting on a park bench and a young boy walked over and said "why are you so ugly? You're the ugliest thing I've ever seen." She cried all night. 95% of people are no damn good. You are in the 5% of people with feelings and sensitivity. You are brave for doing this and you are going to do great. We all must try to forget those cruel insults. Hanging on to them only hurts us. We are going to fly high.

I have experienced symptoms like this with other non-sugar/sugar-free foods. It could be that your tummy just really did not tolerate that well at all. There are a few things I've tried that made me feel so sick, I will never be able to eat them again. The best behavior modification ever!

It has turned cold and rainy out. I am 8 weeks. I have the worst craving for a hot cup of gumbo!

What do you see when you look in the mirror?
JCP replied to Lacowgirl72's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I should add that I told my hubby, "hey, look, my bra cup is looser". He kind of frowned and said "that's not good". LOL! -
I'm chicken!

I see that my face is thinner, my bras are looser, and I have a bit of a waist now. But I still see a huge person when I look in the mirror... -
Does anyone else hate the way they feel after they eat
JCP replied to Momma_D's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
8 weeks for me and eating is not pleasant. I can judge pretty well when to stop now but am having trouble finding things that agree with me. I can't just live on cheese and nuts but so many things either upset my stomach or taste horrible to me. Just trying to suck it up and make myself eat right. Hopefully it will become less of a chore soon! -
I saw a cousin today for the first time since my pre-op and surgery. He said he was very impressed with my weight loss (40 lbs). He said I actually don't look like the michelin man anymore. Wow. I just said thank you and changed the subject.

Nah, if you knew my cousin you'd just shake your head and blow it off. Every family has one!

This is such a cute story! Love it.

second thoughts about the surgery :(
JCP replied to crazystacy81's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just want to add one thing: my amazing, beautiful, intelligent mother faced obesity her whole life. She was diabetic, had congestive heart failure, her knees were so gone that she was confined to a wheelchair. She was totally disabled. She needed help with basic care. Strangers made cruel comments to her. She meant the world to me. I don't ever want to endure what my beloved mother faced. Her life was hell. Please don't let it happen to you. -
Yes, best of luck! We are all on the journey together, just at different points on the path. This group is very kind, supportive, and welcoming... Just what is needed when facing this decision and surgery. Knowing so many others succeeded and don't look back was so helpful to me. God bless you as you start this new chapter!

Haleytrim nailed it! Will you be better off with or without it? Don't let fear make your decision for you. -
Yall are so funny. I still am amazed he said that! It really didn't hurt my feelings because I was too busy thinking he was an idiot! Lol!
-
I would add that for my first month I was short tempered and weepy. I felt bad, I think my body was saying WTH and I know hormone changes are involved. At two months, my mood is more stable. Don't underestimate the effects of surgery.

Prayers for all having surgery this week! Keep your eye on the prize! God bless!

I am 7 weeks out and 40 lbs down. In Nov 2015, we are renewing our vows on a beach in Galveston, a place where I spent much of my childhood and is very special. So I took a chance and on a whim bought a dress that I have no idea will fit. But it is a vintage 1940s dress, and in today's sizing, a large. I could not pass it up. I have all the faith that I can make it as I have gone from size 22 pants to size 16. It was crazy and impulsive. But I can't contain my excitement so I went for it. Spread your wings and fly, everyone! Love to all of you from Texas!

You look awesome! So proud of you!

I lived on beef bouillon and protein shakes and lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks on my pre-op. Days 1-4 were tough then it got much easier. You will be fine. Just keep reminding yourself that it is a necessary step!

Nuts and cheese and those definitely were not my faves before! It was red meat and sugar!

What do you order when you go out to eat with your family?
JCP replied to S(he) be(lie)ve(d)'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't throw up any until 6 weeks and it seems to be just things that don't settle with me. It feels like my tummy is very sensitive. Chicken ( baked, grilled) makes me ill. Many soups do, too. Seems like cheese, nuts, eggs, and yogurt work best. Deli sliced turkey is ok too in very small portions. I have to take my aunt to lunch tomorrow and I may just drink water and say I'm not hungry...
