joy59 replied to AshleePage's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just bought the super advanced whey protein mix in strawberry from Walmart has 30gms of protein if mixed with water and not bad at all. -
Music what great accomplishments you will need a new bucket list soon.

Wow only 11 days I can't even imagine how that will feel. I went to B&N and bought weight loss for dummies and ordered the other book and have started reading a lot of information. Good luck with your surgery and these last days of planning.

I too would love to take a dancing class and get lessons on a standup paddle board and maybe kayaking. Fun to dream and how great to actually make it happen......can't wait.

Glad to hear you are doing well right after surgery. You are starting the journey over and I give you a lot of credit and wishing the very best for you.

Carbs: aka, the crack cocaine of foods
joy59 replied to TonyaNKy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon told me about a study in which refined carbs produce the same chemical reaction to the brain as heroine so yes it really is addictive. -

Wow that is fantastic! Makes me feel a little easier. I must admit I can't help but smile all the time, even though it is a ways off reading everyone's posts it seems to go fast.

He suggested it because I am insulin dependent and RNY has a higher rate of getting off of insulin. You are correct I have a while to start my research again snd wanted to start with personal experience and went right here. Thank you for the encouragement.

Anyone getting sleeved in July or August? Looking for buddies!
joy59 replied to abbyfran7's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor requires a 5% weight loss or no surgery. I have started working with the nutritionist now. Keeping a food diary using my fitness pal, started doing water arobics twice a week only eating 3 meals a day and an evening snack due to insulin. No sugar, no food from the avoid list. I still don't have a surgery date but I wanted to make these changes now because I figure after surgery there will a whole lot more stuff to get use to. -
Oops didn't finish can't wait to see the other responses.

I too have that same concern. I am preop but trying to change my behavior now. My worst time to just start eating is between 7-9pm. One small thing I am trying is to wait to clean the kitchen and dishes till about 730 (I can't clean and eat at the same time). Lol still really hard but so far a little better. I can't

joy59 replied to mnmlst's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

I agree with liveoakgal when I decided to go this direction in December I started splurging. -
Now I am "officially" on my way!
joy59 replied to musicmama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Musicmama I am on the same frame as you. I saw my nutritionist in May and also need 3 months of a multidisciplinary program. I see the surgeon on June 8th and hope to have more answers. Funny but I thought I was 100% sure in March when I went to the seminar now I am 85% sure but finding this forum had helped. I don't feel so alone. Anyway congratulations on getting your date and it seems like it has lined up very well. -
I am just starting this journey no surgery date yet but have seen the nutritionist and scheduled for my psy eval. Thought this challenge would be perfect. Starting weight 272 goal 268.
