Amazing!!!!! Great job. I want to be just like you

One thing I learned tonight at the NUT class was that foamies can happen if you eat and then drink without waiting a long enough period. When on full liquids or purée need to wait at least 30 minutes before drinking any liquids. When food is more solid need to wait at least 60 minutes. Not sure if it's the same.

Congratulations and wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thank you I am really going to try everything to get this done.

Started on this journey in March. Had date for surgery September 9th. Then last month insurance changed requirements to 6 months of NUT visits from the original 4. Last week I heard the requirements were changed back to 4 so we were on for end of Sept. Then my position was eliminated after 16 years and now insurance ends Sept. 1st. I am having a harder time wondering what will happen with the surgery then having to look for another job. Bad day.

I have a call out to the coordinator I found out Copra will cost $2000 a month so I really hope and pray it will still happen in September. I kept going back and forth about waiting but i really need this for my health. I appreciate all your support.

You look fantastic. I appreciate your honesty about the tough changes. I am scheduled to have my surgery the later part October. -
It was for me, it's another tool.

I also didn't own a scale. I think I saw it as a reminder of my failure. But once I made the decision to have WLS I bought one and have used it in preparation for my surgery. My surgery will be the end of October and I am using the scale as another tool. I have also taken a before picture and my measurements as others have recommended. Every now and then I become obsessed with the scale and I have to stay away from it.

People over 60 and gastric bypass

Hi All, I am turning 60 in a few days and have a similar story. I also thought the sleeve was for me but my surgeon recommended the RNY because top goal is to get off my insulin. started my journey in January and finally got my first appointment with my NUT in May and was scheduled for RNY for 9/9 but found out my insurance changed the criteria and now need 6 visits. So surgery now is 10/22. I am glad to see this post because I thought I was too old for the surgery otherwise I may have considered it earlier. -
I have not had my surg yet but NUT said in the beginning shoot for 300-400 cal/day working up to 600 .

SBell I understand as I am going through almost the same. I feel that I am at times sabotaging my own weight loss so I won't get the surgery . The Dr gave me a goal of 261 I was 287. I reached 261 in about 3 weeks I received my surgery date September 9th (soonest insurance would cover) . Now I find myself going back to poor food choices. I have been trying to figure out what it is about and for me I believe I am very afraid I won't succeed even with wls and this is a way of making sure it won't happen. So I am resetting my negative thoughts with positive. I started back to the gym and do two meals of protein shake and have started using the fitness pal again. We will succeed one day at a time and we know that because we are strong women who have many things for others and now we will do this for ourselves. All the best to you.

Daron it does depend on the surgeon. My Dr gave me a goal to reach that I must keep off or he will cancel surgery prep is the same as the colonoscopy.

When I went to the general wls meeting there were several people there having a band to RNY revision and during the presentation it was brought up that this surgeon no longer recommends or does banding. Just thought it was interesting and with the posts here I can see why.

How much walking were you able to do before surgery? Walking around the block for me is very tough because of shortness if breath. I have started water exercises which seem a little easier on breathing and joints. I am still waiting for surgery not scheduled till Sept 9th.

I like it because it also helps you track your protein, carbs and fats. So it can help me plan my meals based on what I need. My nut gave me this as a homework assignment for preop and now I am recommending it to everyone. Also love that it shows you a graph as your weight is going down.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. From what I have been reading the diet and hospital stay does seem to be the same. Getting very excited again for the RNY.

Have been working towards a sleeve since February and finally was given a date for Sept 2nd but surg suggested bypass. I feel a little unprepared because all my research has been for the sleeve. What has been your experience for recovery? How many days in the hospital?

No question about it people do treat people differently even women do the same. But I also wonder if some of that is the increased confidence that can come from losing weight and feeling better on the inside that can make one more approachable. Just a thought.

Yes I do have good Resourses but I have to say what has really helped me the most is this site. Can't beat real life experiences. Thank you
