Hi ladies my surgery us scheduled for October 7th. I am a bit older, but raising my two granddaughters on my own. They are 9 and soon to be 3. After 16 years I recently lost my job in August but decided to have the surgery. My oldest daughter is flying in to stay with the girls for 1 week. I am both very excited and nervous but I know this is what I need to do to be the support the girls need and not be a spectator in life.

Much better to have it done and be on the road to recovery even without the daVinci I will not be disappointed if it ends up that they cannot use the davinci as long as it gets done.

My surgeon uses a baritric coordinator who told me exactly what tests were required and I needed to have them scheduled before I met with the surgeon along with having the psy eval and third nutrition class completed. At my first meeting he then gave me the weight I needed to get down to before surgery would be scheduled. -
I CANT DECIDE BETWEEN BYPASS OR THE SLEEVE.
joy59 replied to UrCaliGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My understsnding is that the rny cuts out the hormone the same as the sleeve. But I believe the added benefit to the RNY is because there is a difference between head hunger and stomach hunger there is additional consequences to making the wrong choices. I had totally decided on the sleeve until I read all the posts of sleevers to bypassers and when I did talk to my surgeon he recommended the bypass because of my type2 diabetes. It is a very hard and personal decision. Good luck and remember no matter which one you choose you have given yourself a gift. -
I received my approval on monday as well for my october 7th surgery I was so overwhelmed to think that everything is coming together and after all the obstacles and delays it is really going to happen. Yea for us all!!!!!!

My insurance company required one and required it to be within the normal range either with or without medication. -
Final approval for my Oct 7th RNY received today! I was so nervous that I would be rejected because I had to go onto COBRA after loosing my job of 16 years in August. Things are coming together and I cant wait to join all of you on the loosers bench.

Happy Birthday!! -
Two weeks out seems soon to be eating that type of food since you are still in the healing phase. But I know all doctors have their own eating plans. It maybe a normal new feeling of being too full but I would suggest anytime you have a question or concern talk to your team they would rather here from you. It sounds like you are doing really well.

Maybe the pressure needs to be adjusted. I would talk to the sleep clinic they may have suggestions perhaps a different type of mask. -
Need help with protein

I am still preop but something to try is to further dilute with water or almond milk. Make sure you drink slow sips and try taking half the amount no more then 4 ounces but may need to start or go back to 2 ounces and then try more in a few days. My NUT had touched a little on this. -
Recovery..... do you really need someone the first few weeks?
joy59 replied to bluedreams86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am glad I have been reading this thread. I kept going back and fourth about bringing her here away from her family but decided for peace of mind one week would be best for the kids. -
. Do something nice for yourself, you deserve it. I will be thinking of you and please keep us informed.
