Hi everyone! My current insurance plan doesn't cover bariatric options, so I'm paying out of pocket for my LAP-band surgery. My coverage ends on June 30th (less that a month from now) so I need to shop for new insurance. I've tried searching sites like Anthem and Humera, but I find them hard to navigate. I want to make sure my new plan covers bariatric and mental health. So what should I do/where should I go to find a personalized plan for myself? I'm 29 years old, no spouse, no dependants, I'm a student. I'm currently paying $375 a month for my plan. Which is rediculously high, and I'd like something lower, but if that's what I have to pay to have it covered, than so be it. I work student jobs, so my employer doesn't cover any insurance. Do you guys know of any sites or specialty plans that I could look into?

I'll be banded next Thursday, June 5th. Super nervous, but excited! I'm going out today to stock up on post-surgery food. My surgeon doesn't require any type of pre-surgery diet. I had planned on being good, eating Protein and low carbs. But I haven't done very well with this. It's so hard to say good-bye to foods I won't be eating for awhile!! What should I stock up on? My list so far is pedialyte, ensure, Protein shakes, V8. That's all I can think of. What do you guys recommend for the first 2 weeks? Especially the first 2 days?

Pre & Post surgery food

I'm sorry, I didn't think about different doctor requirements post-surgery. Mine requires 2 days of Clear liquids (and I think broth is included here.) Then 2 weeks of just liquids Then 2 weeks of pureed. I'm not so worried about the pureed part yet. I'm sure I will be in 3 weeks, but for now, I'm just trying to stock up for the first 16 days. -
