From the album: Post-Op RNY 6/26/2014
Although I am in the pureed stages now, I am able to eat these because as soon as I chew it once, it turns to puree. <--chew with discretion, know yourself! Directions: Place a sheet of parchment paper on a large oven pan. tear/cut cheese into postage-stamp size pieces and space them at least an inch apart on the parchment paper. Add your favorite spices (black pepper, chopped onions, olives) and bake on 450 for less than five minutes. Check every minute to see when it puffs up. The moment it does, it will turn brown in the next minute. Grab it and place it in the fridge to cool and preserve the 'bubble'. When it settles, it will be crispy. Store in the fridge or in the freezer in ziploc bags for a quick snack. It will defrost in less than an hour for traveling protein. -
Keep it coming, I'm headed there on Tuesday. This is so exciting!

Oh, it's soft and creamy (I added broth and greek yogurt, pureed onions, eggs, zucchini....) it's been fine the first two weeks. I guess today was an 'off' day for me.
-
I cooked before my surgery and prepared many 2 oz food portions in advance. I ate my special "chicken zucchini souffle" many times, but today my body was not happy. I wonder if it was underlying anxiety just making me reject anything (I did wake up without an appetite). I wonder though if the vengeance that it passed with... if that is considered dumping? Or is dumping only for fat and sugar? I'm so confused. I don't know this body yet!

Well, I did a six week pre-op diet and reached the required weight loss after three weeks. I was then cleared for surgery. What haunts me is that I starved myself (painfully!) while waiting for the surgery, when I could've bid farewell to some sporadic unwise choices, just for old times sakes.

RNY 4/2009 Now frustrated!
latido replied to xlxsparkzxlx's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Not having a team on your side is going to continue to make you miserable. Is moving out of the question? Also, is it financially smart to consider flying rather than driving (once a month) so that it can be your 'treat day' and still remain living where you are now? -
Week 3 post RNY, GERD and Crohn's seem to have vanished!

How old do you think I am?
latido replied to AutumnPunkin's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Being that I look at least ten years younger than I really am.... I'll go with 37 -
Thursday I was two weeks post op, and had totaled to 19 lbs since the surgery. It feels so slow and painstaking, but upon reflection, it does add up to more than a pound a day. In my previous life, if I lost a pound after one week of weight watchers, I was ecstatic. So when you put the two lifestyles side by side, there is no way one can become sad about this new version.
-
I'd eat myself to exhaustion so that it wouldn't haunt me today.
-
What the heck is wrong with me? I lose almost 20 lbs pre-op, have a final weigh-in on Monday, and I just sat down for my first facestuffing contest with chips, licorice, and soda? Who is this person? I've been going so strong for a month now! JITTERSSSSSSSSS

Week two, and I just finish my 4 oz pureed dinner after working through it slowly for an hour. Realizing that I needed 6 more grams of Protein to close out my day, I sat down with a yogurt. I realize that unlike last week where I couldn't get in a sip without feeling like I'd explode, I can now actually work through a yogurt, even after a 4 oz dinner. I'm not okay with this. Is this allowed?!

I have been craving salty foods the last few days (I am 3 weeks post op today). I finally looked the the pirate's booty cheddar puffs and they have 2 grams of Protein per ounce serving. I dropped one piece into my chicken broth and it melted. I wonder if that can be motivation to work through the broth for liquid Protein. It doesn't even need to be chewed

I've been on purees for a week. I've had some saltyish foods, but it has hit me so hard that I needed to satisfy it. It honestly helped. -
Pain on left side, 13 days post-op
latido replied to Summit105's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Last night I finally went out for the first time, and was to play a game with some friends. We laughed so so hard, for so many hours. I did clutch a pillow the entire time, but boy am I sore there. It feels like I delivered a cow between two of the incisions. Two of them had WLS and assured me that I will NOT pop a staple from laughing. Scary stuff. -
I lost 18 lbs since RNY 13 days ago. I am okay with the pace of my weight loss. Prior to RNY I was a dry-toast-crispy-crunchy person. Now, I am resigning to a life of mush. Eeeow
-
I never considered anything besides for gastric bypass. I am on day 13 and lost 18 pounds since the surgery, 36 lbs total.
-
That's how I am coping for now. I chew everything until it becomes puréed (not blending the cottage cheese, for example)
-
Yes, my tastes changed too. I use the foods to create new dishes, and they are such a blessing to me now. I am 13 days post op.

Before RNY, I prepared portions of tuna blended with pickle juice and greek yogurt. It totaled to 10g of protein per 2 oz portion. Today, I used one portion to make an 'omelette' by mixing it up in a pot with 1 tablespoon of shredded cheese and one ounce eggbeaters. The results: A yummy pureed meal with 16.5 grams of protein!

I used the chopper blade in the food processor. You can also use a blender. I cooked all my foods 6 weeks before my surgery and froze them in 2 oz condiment containers.

My knee dislocates when I do stairs. I can literally feel the bones grinding. My yoga instructor showed me how to pop it back in. Stand up against the wall, press your lower back into the wall as you gently slide down to a mock sitting position. Hold. It will look like you are sitting on a chair. The key is to keep pressing your lower back into the wall. After a few seconds, slide back up. Repeat if necessary.

Am I being too sensitive?
latido replied to *Lexie*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we all had at least one person who asked us that same question. I chose NOT to share with people, but I did share with several after the fact. Three made that comment. I must say, doing the first most important and totally selfish thing for myself ever, has empowered me to a point where I have such a tough skin now, nothing they say can make a dent. I fully embraced that I am tough as nails, stronger than those who chose to run for the hills. I've done it, and I'm proud of my tenacity. Words are for fraidycats. I hope you can find your inner strength soon. -
Bronchitis feels like when you touch a burn, a deep pain when you cough. You feel it in the rounded 'cupped' bottom-most area of your lungs. You can feel the pain from the inside of your chest all the way to your back. I highly recommend you take a teaspoon every hour of liquid Pantothenic Acid (B6). It stops coughs and drainage instantly. I have been able to avoid serious infections with this very cheap and accessible Vitamin.
