    packing/ prepping for hospital

PJ's that are large on you now. I say this because your tummy will be very swollen, and you will not be able to tolerate the waistband pressure. Also, you will be uncomfortable if your shirt sticks to the steristrips. I took my own chicken broth (6g of Protein per cup!) and sipped on that every hour, rather than just Water.
  4. Wow, I can't believe there's another human like me. I've had several surgeries and births, and my BP always freaked out. I did ask the surgeon yesterday about increasing the BP meds, and after one week of hell, I finally got a straight answer: "We do not manage blood pressure, speak to your Primary Care". Well duh! No wonder they haven't been addressing it. I was calling the wrong place. I will make an appointment to speak with the PCP. I cannot drive yet to get there (I keep fading in and out and am lightheaded from the BP). Thank you, @@TraciHade so much!
  5. I have been setting my timer to stop drinking before 'meals'. I have some blended Soup that i have been working on for the past hour. This means that for the four ounces of eventual intake, I will be off of my drinking for about 2-4 hours. In this heat, is it wise to eat, or wiser to just keep drinking? I'm 6 days post-op
  6. I went for my one week post-op today, and was cleared for purees. I came home and tried pureed, and it went down extremely easy. So far so good. I've been able to manage to get it in at around one hour. So it worked out well. I guess I'm just less swollen by now. Liquids bloat me instantly, food does not. Go figure.
  7. Okay, breathe! Start a word document for keeping track of your thoughts as you have sudden inspirations. Personally, I use Google Docs. Weeks before, I began to compile a list of foods that I *do* cook well. Then, when the list was long enough, I began to calculate the ingredients to see which one was most worth cooking. Finally, one day I made a shopping list. It took at least three weeks to actually go out, buy them, cook them, portion it, and freeze it. And THEN I got really excited, as I felt very empowered. That document turned out to be my lifesaver. Because, one day I learned from the site about refried Beans. I've never eaten them in my life. So I went out, bought a can, tasted it, loved it, portioned it and froze it! ... and added it to the document to my 'inventory'. Slowly I accumulated six weeks of food for post-op.

    Seitan Recipe (Vegetarians)

Any seitan recipes for the pureed stage? Thank you so much!
  9. Almond Milk has 1 gram of Protein per serving, and only 30 calories. It is packed with Vitamins. This is not a protein-intended drink, but motivation to get my fluids in post-op. There is no sugar in the almond milk, and 24 grams of sugar per cup of juice, but only 4 oz. was used in my entire Water bottle.
  10. I wonder if it shocks my system into metabolizing it, and causing distress. I've had it with Ensure, and with a protein gel. I will be seeing the surgeon today.
  11. Is it possible that my body now thinks that every pill is an entire bottle? I wonder if my new plumbing amplifies every medication because of the different acids. I ask because I wonder if the 1/2 tbs of coffee that I add to my almond milk can be making my body think it's drinking a whole pot (and dehydrating me). Just wondering.

    From waddle to wattle

I'm not fifty yet, but genetics has forewarned me to expect to gobblegobble as soon as the weight loss is extensive. I promised myself I will rip that flapper off the first opportunity I have. Ick. WILL NOT LOOK LIKE GRANDMA!

    Still not able to eat

I spent 9 hours in the ER yesterday for IV fluids. I finally decided today to keep pushing myself to drink even if I felt repulsed by swallowing. It's working. I finished an extra 10 oz more today.

    You're so vain...

My motto: "Soon soon, the skinny bitch that lives inside my imagination will come out to play"
  15. I'm 6 days post-op. As soon as I have someone else's size 16 or 1x stuff, I'd be happy to pass mine alone to you :-)

    Still not able to eat

I had to call the surgeon's office to ask if I should keep drinking and ignoring the 'full' feeling. They said absolutely. You might want to try to push yourself ever so gently.
  17. Oh, I love your pictures! I'm snickering here, thinking, "Why, that looks like one of those skinny people I'd never want to socialize with"!!!! LOL how my life will change now. I'm 6 days post-op, and am already feeling closer to onderland. Way to go!
  18. People are surprisingly non-queasy to see the port-sites post-op. I thought that was very interesting to discover.

    Pre op liquid diet

These shakes will pull a fast one on your blood sugar and blood pressure. Make sure to monitor those.
  20. This is so interesting. I'm headed for my post-op visit with the surgeon. I look forward to kicking this hypertension! Thanks.
  21. Hmmmm. So maybe that why my blood pressure is out of control? It was normal before the surgery, the medication was working well.
  22. Really? So the waiting rule doesn't apply yet?
  23. I figured I'd try Tylenol yesterday... and landed in the ER. I don't know what's going on.

    New-surgery was 6/23

day 6, still having obscene pains on the left-most spot. Otherwise, there is almost no pains left, other than the usual discomforts. I'm averaging 4 lbs a day, so no complaints!
