Hi, I found Bariatric Pal on Google search and it was helpful to read a few posts & info prior to my gastric sleeve surgery 2 days ago on June 3, 2014.
I spent one night in the hospital on ice chips then progressing to sips of water. My upper GI the next morning showed that all my staples were intact so I continued sipping my water throughout the day to make sure I was tolerating my fluids. I was released later that afternoon and have progressed well.
My one advice is to walk the halls as soon as you're able to release the bloated gassy feeling you'll have & sip,sip, sip!
The only real problem I've had is with diarreah, which surprises me since I haven't had any solid food for quite awhile.
