Can you get stuck on fluids?

I got "stuck" on protien shakes 5 days out...it was painful... I must have been really swollen. My surgeon told me it was normal to swell the most 4-6 days out from surgery. I just had a fill yesterday and am swollen again... Nothing has gotten stuck like before, thank goodness. Just sip slowly...try a warm tea. Warm liquids seem to help.

    skinny jeans

I love it! That rocks! :-). So did you buy the skinny jeans?!

    Stay the course

    So motivating! You look amazing!
  6. So, this morning was rough...took me an hour to get my protein shake down. Soup tonight was easier...but still feel the swelling...or is this how it will feel from now on? Hmmm. Not sure what is normal after a fill.
  7. @@brendan2014 I have noticed I can no longer gulp :-( I have been sipping protien shake all night...taking forever to drink the dang thing. But, I know this will pass...I'm feeling good..and hungry still..lol. @@Weeviegurl I was wondering how you have been! So glad to hear your fill went well too! Sounds like you still have natural restriction. You may be in the green zone with one fill! I didn't notice a thing...until I got to the car...swallowing started to become a bit difficult, not bad, but noticeable...and I could feel my throat constrict a bit. I sipped on cool Water, and it helped...had to take little sips, though. So are you okay now? I'm hoping the worst of the swelling is only on the day of, and it will calm down tomorrow. *fingers crossed*
  8. I still put too much on my plate, and end up either taking it back to the kitchen for left overs, or feeding the dog...the dog loves my band, btw. lol

    meal plan needed

I went and logged back into fitclick..put my required calories, protien and carbs..and selected meals..it gave me a meal plan, so it still works! It also has workout plans as well. I may start using it again myself..lol!

    meal plan needed

I used to get free meal plans off a site called fitclick. You can customize protien levels. carb levels, calorie levels...and it will create a meal plan according to what you selected..and a shopping list! I may go there again myself...but I am just newly banded and don't feel I need it. It could help develop a structure for you...not sure if all food it suggests will be band friendly, though...but might be worth a try? You could always sub in band friendly food.

    Are We Worth It?

I love, love, love, this analogy! We are worth more and last longer than any material thing out there. If we don't take care of ourselves...who will? Its amazing how much money someone will put into a vehicle to make it look pristine..they will add modifications on the inside and out...yet the same person will turn and scoff at someone..an actual human being, who wants to improve themselves and their health by doing the same thing...as if they are not worth as much as some material thing on wheels. I see a WLS/plastics commercial in this scenario. It would make people think, anyway...lol!

    Generating Inspiration

I found inspiration in pinterest...pinning cute outfits, and thinking.."I might actually be able to pull these outfits off a year from now!" I also find inspiration in wanting to be the best mom and wife I can be! I now have more energy since surgery...and that in itself generates motivation. I honestly believe hormonal changes happen as you lose weight...like it affects your emotions..the ones that are making you feel "in a rut", or "ho-hum"...you start to feel better emotionally as well as physically as each pound drops. I was constantly feeling 'in the dumps' prior to getting banded...even when I was approved, I felt just like you...I think I was worried it wouldn't make a difference in my life or in general...weight or otherwise. I had been through so many diets, workouts, detoxes...why should this be any different, and did it even matter? I mean, here I am pushing 40..this is just what aging is all about, right? Well, I can tell you..at least for me, it is changing my moods... my every day life seems easier and more fulfilling..maybe because I am finally taking care of me? My husband has noticed a big change in my old "ho-hum" attitude. I find I am more positive about life in general, and all these inner physical changes are being reflected in my everyday mood. There needs to be more studies done on how weight affects emotions/feelings. I swear there is a connection there, and it is more than just a mental process. Point is...things will change as you get closer to the date...and really change afterwards...in the meantime...get on pinterest and pin some future outfits for the new you! :-) I also have been getting excited about doing things like roller skating or ice skating...not having to stop on a hike...running with my daughter, and not tiring out so easily...riding bikes with the family...just "living" life in general instead of watching it...these things motivate me daily :-) Age is just a number...I was starting to let it define me...who says I cant do all these things and more for years to come? Start thinking about what you would love to do for fun...what would weight loss make possible for you that isn't as doable now? Just let your imagination run wild with the possibilities...and you will get excited about it all! :-)

    July Challenge-Summer Challenge

7/9/2014 Completed organizing office weight: 220 (3 lb loss)
  14. I had my first fill today too! I feel swollen, but was able to drink a Protein shake for dinner. How do you feel?
  15. I'm a month out, and for the first time in my life, I am actually satisfied with small portions...I mean feeling like I could not eat another bite satisfied. For me this has been an incredible freeing experience. I was worried too, and grieving over food I thought I would miss. I have found cravings extremely diminished since getting the band. I have no desire for the things I used to obsess over. Its really strange and great at the same time. I can focus on other things during the day, where as before...I was always hungry. I am a month out and 25 pounds lighter...I feel great, and have more energy, I actually enjoy working out..this is the first thing I've done for myself that is actually working, and I literally feel the results daily. Trust me, this surgery forces you to say "no" to over indulging once you have had your "fill"..pun intended? lol To me, right now...it feels like a blessing.

    first fill in a year

Oh my goodness, look at how much you lost! 138 pounds is a great accomplishment! I keep hearing the last 20 something pounds are the hardest, and the ones you really have to work for. You have not failed...you just reached your challenge. Take that challenge head on! You will get there...just don't give up :-)
  17. So I did it! I lived through my first fill! It really was quick and painless! Didn't feel the needle at all. I was given .5 CCs for a grand total of 5.5CCs in my band. I was able to drink afterwards...although I can really feel the swelling. I am on liquids for 2 days then mushies for 2 days. I am hungry :-( But! my surgeon said I am on par with where I need to be and losing as much as his sleevers, so I'm excited about that! He tells me weight loss will slow this month..to about 8 pounds a month. Still really good, IMO. On to month 2! thank you guys for the support!
  18. I went to check out your prior post..you have a bunch of comments...might want to check it out again :-)
  19. I drink about the same...one 32 oz sized bottle of Water...and 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning. I do drink some green tea as well. I have never had a problem with re-flux...but, I did eat tomato Soup a couple weeks ago, and it was so acidic it messed my throat up for a bit. So no tomato soup for me! Are you suffering symptoms of dehydration? (fatigue, constipation, etc)? How many oz of water do you drink?
  20. @@plopez just realized you changed your pic! lol I'll keep you posted!
  21. I'm going in this afternoon. I lost another pound today..so curious what the doctor will say. I was told no solids this morning...then no liquids 1 hour prior. Then liquids for the next couple days after. @@brendan2014 Thank you for the tip about the pillow! I never would have thought to bring one. I remember feeling awkward with the seat belt after surgery...so it will help! How long were you all swollen for after your fill? I really don't want to be so tight I have to regurgitate. I have had a couple episodes you talk about where warm Water helped...so I already have restriction. I have 5CC in my band right now. (It was put in at surgery.)
  22. I had bad swelling about 5 days after surgery...I got Protein shake sips stuck...yes stuck. It hurt sooo bad. Later my surgeon tells me the worst swelling happens about 5 days out..completely normal. Soo..fast forward to now...I can eat chicken, tender steak, vegetables, toast, etc. It will come down. I'm about to get my first fill today, and scared of that initial painful restriction I had right out of surgery...but, it does go down..you will get better :-)
  23. I have the same problem...seems like I'm always waiting to drink something...then cant get a whole lot down once i can.
