When did you start taking vitamins?
bluesclues replied to bluesclues's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bufflehead, no need to be sarcastic/rude. I know I won't get anything but just trying to be cautious. Since everyone's diet plans are different, just wanted to hear when others started, that's all. -
How long should we wait to drive?
bluesclues posted a topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I really want to go buy some Soup at Souplantation lol i bought boxes of broth and they were absolutely revolting! i'm 5 days out of surgery...not sure if I should drive yet? and also if you have ANY recs for broth/soup that's clear, plmk! Thanks -
Might be a stupid question but I've ordered samples from Syntrax and chike. Not sure how much Protein powder I should be using to make a Protein shake? How much do you guys use? A few tablespoons or teaspoons? And I've read that it's good to use almond milk for the shakes instead of regular milk. Just trying to figure this out before I start full liquids next week (CAN NOT WAIT) Thanks!

self medicated injections?
bluesclues replied to Amarie812's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got sleeved on 7/5 and have to give one to myself everyday for 6 days total. I'm diabetic type 1 and have never taken blood thinners before. I take shots all the time but honestly, this $#%^ hurts! The needle isn't small like the ones I've used for my insulin shots, and it stings after. I couldn't handle it on my stomach b/c of all the bandaging and stuff so have been giving it in my leg and liek someone posted above to go slow...DEF GO SLOW! I have a bruise on my right thigh....and my left one hurts as well when I try to turn over a bit Btw mine is called Fragmin (prolly just a different in Mexico I'm assuming like for some of the other meds) SIGH few more days to go for me! -
Pills...crush or just swallow?
bluesclues replied to bluesclues's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone! I was bad and tried taking Omeprazole just as a capsule and it went down fine. It was stuck in my throat for a bit but its okay now I think I do need to get some juice and mix it with the nasty tablet I've mixed it with Vitamin Water and still was repulsive. sigh -
How long should we wait to drive?

Cupcake, I used a small comforter in between my stomach and the seat belt when we were going home but my mother was driving. I'll do the same when I drive Thanks everyone! <3 -
Hi travelmego, Yeah, there were a lot of problems getting my blood sugars under control for 4 days, but I'm back on my pump and doing good! Turns out I didn't wear anything underneath the gown and glad i didn't lol too many bathroom trips!
-
So random question, but do you wear anything under the hospital gown? I mean for the few days your are in the hospital. I'm asking because I'm diabetic and wear an insulin pump and need something with pockets to put it on/in so was thinking of taking shorts to wear underneath the gown? I don't know...any suggestions? When I had my gallbladder taken out years ago, I wasn't on the pump so it wasn't an issue. And I can't remember wearing anything underneath. Help? I have surgery tomorrow and am trying to pack :/ Thanks!

Kayleena, How was the after care for your friend? I'm looking into Dr. Corvala as well, but have seen some people have trouble getting in touch with him and his office after their sugery is done. Please let me know.

Dr. Ariel Ortiz at the OCC
bluesclues replied to Kindle's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I understand that. I wouldn't base your decision on who has been doing them longest though. Make sure they are honest too. I know of specifics about experienced surgeons there and how they have ripped off patients. One woman I met went there for a band revision to sleeve. The surgeon only removed her band and led her to believe she had a sleeve too. Dr Ortiz "fixed" her by performing her sleeve surgery and documented things to assist with her lawsuit against the other group/surgeon who cheated her. Others up-charge for hernia repairs that were not really done. It's very sad but we are vulnerable there as patients. I can testify to Dr Ortiz' integrity. My best to you with your decision and surgery. Oh absolutely! Sorry, I didn't write in detail that I'm looking at everything. Been reading forums, joined FB groups, etc. It's basically between 2 surgeons and I'm not sure which one to choose. Wow, that's crazy! It's sad how we have no idea. -
Same here. I'm hoping it cuts down my insulin requirements and hopefully Glucophage as well.

The reason why I'm asking is because I'm comparing him to another surgeon, and of course more years of experience is what I'm looking for, specifically in GSV. Thanks for the feedback everyone! -

Random question...but does anyone know how many surgeries Dr. Ortiz has done? I'm sure the info on his website is not the current number. Thanks. -

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie here and have been doing tons of research and have narrowed my choices down to these 2 surgeons. I'm still indecisive about which one to go with. I've read forums, blogs, etc. and still can't decide. Can anyone help by giving feedback on either of these surgeons? I've read the long post on Dr. Ortiz...but still am not sure. I'm worried about complications because I'm diabetic as well (type 1). Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks. -

Does anyone know how many surgeries Dr. Ortiz has done? Checked his website and even asked Lori, the coordinator, and can't seem to find an answer. Trying to decide between him and another surgeon in TJ.
