TMI - Forgive me...Bowel Movement
bluesclues replied to RammerJammer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think I went for awhile because I was on only liquids the first couple of weeks. I think you'll be able to go once you include proper food. Now I add benefiber to my shakes/drinks to make sure I go regularly and having Fiber as well. -
I was crushing the pills one day after surgery and almost threw up because it was so digusting. After doing that for 2 days I just started taking the pills as a whole. Been fine since then

Better than sugar free ice pops
bluesclues replied to Jaimianna79's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How many ounces of Water did you use to make the pops? I mix a scoop with greek yogurt and its really good. -
Wow...I can relate to so much of this! I dated a guy that was like #3 and that ended because he was upset/pissed that I didn't tell him about my surgery when we first started dating (seriously? that's not something you bring up on the first few dates) and also was judging me the same way (how did you let yourself get so fat, etc?). He was a hardcore gymmer and always working out. Glad that ended because he criticized me on so many other things as well....was a jerk, and found out how he was a bigger jerk :/ The guy I'm dating now doesn't care and is very supportive....seen my scars as well. Let's see how this goes *fingers crossed*

Anyone taking zinc for their hair? I'm bout 8 months out and lost a lot of hair, and then it was okay, and now again I'm a losing a lot Got back blood work/reports and everything is fine as well. Thought I'd ask...emailed my nutrionist and she rec'd taking zinc but not how much (got surgery done in Mexico and I'm living abroad, so not easy to just call). Thanks.

Still insulin dependent?!
bluesclues replied to mama0297's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It takes time for your body to adjust. I'm taking half the insulin I used to take but the weight loss has been slow but its steady. I'm still taking other meds as well and probably will have to continue but you need to be patient. plus when I'm sick my BS levels rocket...also after surgery, they wouldn't go down either. Everyone is different.... -
If you went to mexico for your gastric sleeve surgery, who was your doctor and how much did it cost?
bluesclues replied to BackToBeautiful's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went with Dr. Juan Corvala at Hospital Angeles, paid $6500...def recommend him...stayed extra days at the hospital b/c of my diabetes and a day at the hotel as well. So happy I went with him, the nurses and doctors, everything was top notch. My mom and I were super impressed, never have gotten this kind of care in the US...ever! -
Rocky, I don't want to take biotin because I'll grow hair everywhere else as well I'll check how much zinc I'm getting in my multivit. Thanks, I'll look into those! I'm going back to LA in a couple of weeks and can pick those up. Thanks Elode for the suggestion!! Has it made a difference in your opinion?

It's difficult on first dates...coffee dates are good but when it's a meal, and I usually get something Protein based and just say I eat smaller portions now. One guy I was dating for a couple of months always commented and when I told him, he was okay with it but was judgmental. Needless to say, not dating him anymore (there were other reasons as well). Even when out with friends they have noticed, and it's fine. I just take half of it home. Everyone has noticed my appetite is less = weight loss lol win win Good luck! I'm going out next week with a guy and am going to have to deal with the same thing :S

Since this one was misleading, any rec's for a powder that has no flavor/taste and has a good amount of protein? -

Again, with the diabetes
bluesclues replied to mama0297's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm type 1 and my blood sugars (bs) were ridiculous when I was at the hospital and I got off my pump and they couldn't control it. I had to get back on it like the 2nd day out of surgery and had to adjust it myself. My endocrinologist kinda gave me a guideline to cut everything in half and that helped. Right after surgery since it was liquids only, I didn't need insulin and stopped taking Glucophage and Victoza. The bs do get better and I take half of the insulin I take. Not sure if I'm much help, but feel free to message me if you have any other questions or need someone to talk to -
I agree with eating every few hours, otherwise I'd be in trouble. I start my day off with a Protein shake. Then a couple of hours later cottage cheese mixed with walnuts and a few berries (or just use cinnamon). Then for lunch turkey cheese roll up. If I'm still hungry, I have bell peppers with ranch dressing (I use ranch powder and mix with greek yogurt and add unflavored Protein Powder to it) or a tiny guava after the protein. Everything starts with protein and then veggies....I barely have fruit. I've just started to have apples with PB2 and a dash of cinnamon if I want something sweet. Also, what others have said....if I'm hungry, usually have some Water. Hope that gives you some ideas

Vegetables after weight loss surgery
bluesclues replied to Shannon Piper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The only veggies I have on a daily basis is bell peppers or cucumbers. I can have salad and did like a month out. I can't do carrots AT ALL! once they got stuck and I felt I was going to die (and happened at work and couldn't throw it up either). -
I started having fruit maybe after 6 months. I can have raspberries, strawberries, guava, pomegranate, canteloupe, pears, peaches, apples.....pretty good but I stay away from fruit.....i mix the berries into my cottage cheese daily (little amount). Bananas are too heavy for me though.

syntha 6 isolate in vanilla cake (i think something along the lines of that name), 3/4 tsp instant coffee, 6 oz milk, 4 ice cubes, 1 tsp sf cool whip or replace coffee with PB2 and take out cool whip when i was able to buy premier Protein shakes, loved them! i'd add some milk to it and not use the whole box and add 1 tbsp of Torani SF hazelnut syrup...so lovely -
Random question, but did you stop at your goal weight or continue losing weight? I didn't really have a goal weight set with my doctor, but have a goal set for myself. Saw a bariatric doctor after my surgery (different one, not my surgeon) and he said I would get to 120 lbs by the summer time. I'm at like 147 right now and have started receiving comments that I shouldn't lose more weight, and that I look too skinny :s I thought we lose weight until our body decides to stop? Like I still have extra fat on my stomach and etc. so I still have weight to lose Not sure if I'm making sense :/

Calcium...getting it from milk is enough?
bluesclues replied to bluesclues's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I still have a Protein shake made with milk everyday and forgot that I also have cheese daily lol I do use MFP but only for tracking weight loss. I've had a complete blood work done at 6 months and everything was fine, but I see posts on calcium citrate and people taking calcium chews and etc. which got me thinking if I was getting enough or not. I guess I should start tracking food. Thanks for the link! -
Calcium...getting it from milk is enough?
bluesclues posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Question for everyone I have milk (about 6 oz) and about 100 gm of cottage cheese everyday. Should I be taking Calcium supplements? Currently I'm taking: 1 Centrum Multivitamin B12 Vit D Iron (due to low levels) Any suggestions/advice? I got sleeved in Mexico and they only said to take Centrum and B12 daily, that's it. -

When Can You Eat Lettuce?
bluesclues replied to jiggyjen1982@yahoo.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had it about a month out and was fine. Focused more on eating chicken with the salad (like if I had to go out and eat something) Now I am about 7 months out but can't eat carrots...they don't sit well. I eat bell peppers and cucumbers daily though.
